Wow! You would think people in such a capacity to make a change would be a bit more sensitive. I guess no matter how long you go to school to obtain a degree, it doesn't change one's personality. What a but-hole!!!!! I'm glad he at least had the decency to suggest you see another surgeon. Glad it turned out well for you. Good luck.

I have an apple shape so my weight is on my belly which according to my doctor has caused my to have PCOS. One of the reason I want to have the lap band is to become fertile. My husband and I both want children. I so am looking forward to becoming a Dance and Pagent mom! Are there any other women on here having the lap band or has had it for this reason?

I did a search to figure out what you were talking about. You didn't come here looking for compassion and at no time were you belittled. You came here, never having posting before and have no relationship with anyone here, looking for votes for your contest.
I'm sorry but people reacted with caution and honesty. When a stranger comes out of the blue posting links and wanting our help with one of the zillion potential scams out there, a red flag goes up. We don't want a virus from a link and we don't want to be part of a scam. We don't know you so we don't trust you, either. You can't fault us for having a healthy dose of skepticism.
If you want our help, trying being a part of our community and getting to know us, not just coming here for votes. Otherwise, you're sure to get nowhere fast.

I threw out the junk I had, IM going to exercise today, I am going to my lapband doctor and if I gained, I will face the music and hopefully I will get a fill. I see my therapist today and will talk to her about how I am using food to deal. Onward and upward!

I've been using hypnotherapy techniques to get at my emotional eating -- breathing and relaxation. Was surprised to find a hypnotherapist on my list of preferred providers from our insurance company -- it seems to be working for me. Maybe try some deep breathing or mindful meditation? Good luck to you and please don't ever hesitate to post. We are all in this together and many if not all of us are here because of emotional eating and the results of that.

Kristi Twisti reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in How much Protein and water does everyone drink daily?
Water is recommended 64oz a day. I honestly don't measure Water, I just constantly sip on it all day long.
Protein is your weight times .3 for daily grams. So yours would be 322 x .3= 96.6 grams of Protein for a daily minimum.

There is an active PCOS thread elsewhere on lapbandtalk that is very informative.
I have the band 1.5 years and have lost 70 lbs. I would like to lose 25 lbs more to be 155 at 5 6 but am very happy with my progress to date. It has been slow and relatively easy to lose the weight until 190 lbs without exercise, but I realize to get to goal I really have to incorporate the exercise. I am on 1500 mg metformin and it really helps the weight loss. I am also on BC pills.
I must admit I am not that strict on limiting carb and sugar. I try to eat a well balanced diet but I do like a treat every day.
If you prefer to lose fast and lazy, gastric and its cousin the sleeve is better. The band you will have to work for success. But definitely not as hard as trying to lose without the band, which I couldn't ever do. I would try and try for nothing. I am very happy with my decision, particularly since my father in law had gastric and had crazy complications and looks "deflated." band people lose more gradually and look more normal to me.
    Good luck! .

Hey y'all! I've had pcos for 10 years now and was banded 5 months ago. It is the number 1 reason why I opted for the surgery. So far, I've lost 72 lbs!! I stopped taking my birth control pills 3 months ago, because I was getting horrible acne on my neck. I tried plenty of different kinds of birth control and it was in fact the reason why my acne was so bad. I'm super excited because I just finished my cycle for the 2nd month in a row. This is the first time in years that I've had a normal cycle that has lasted between 5-7 days and stopped.
I still want to lose 60 more lbs before I try to get pregnant.
stay away from sugar, eat small amounts (I still aim for 4 oz or less per meal per my dietitian), get 60-80 grams of Protein a day and get yourself addicted to working out at least 6 days a week. I started walking 1-2 miles at a pace i could handle 1 week after surgery and just tried to push myself a little harder every day.

As a rule I do not believe in telling people what they should or should not do....but what I do is to try to compare your experiences to mine and speak as to what I have experienced....
You say your band is super tight in the morning...so is mine, has been that way for a long time..I just accept it. And if your band is tight in the morning as mine is, then you know it is there doing something....
You say it opens up as the day goes on...I get it, mine does too...enabling me to eat easier...but it still does not let me over eat, or eat the wrong foods, or too fast.....if I did I would get as you describe "Stuck" and "Choking...nearly vomiting"
It sounds as if your band is working fine...but you are fighting it...not listening to the signs...forcing food when you should have stopped...
Is that uncontrollable hunger - cravings brought on by stress? Emotional eating even though you're not hungry? And yet the band is still trying to do it's job?
Kind of reminds me when I was kicking addictions....but I wasn't banded...that would not have been pretty.
I have an idea as to what would work, but it's not my place...speak with your Dr. about maybe too much anxiety....

Jor-el, just because someone posts BS from a website on the internet does not make it a fact. Just as what FoxNews or CNN or NBC posts on their sites or TV programs, we really don't know yet,(maybe your crystal ball is clearer than mine?)do we?
Relying on obamacarefacts.com as a clear reference source would be like relying on scientology as the only source for spiritual guidance.

everyone can buy their insurance now.. before Obama care... my insurance premium through my work is going up alot next year and so are my deductibles and Co pays.. basically we are all now going to pay for everyones insurance who can't afford it. they will get breaks on their premiums. maybe all of the people who think this is so great should actually sit down and figure out how much their rates and Co pays will go up. I figured my sons for 5 months.. and I will pay about 2000 more next year.

With all due respect, the last thing I need is a biased webinar. I've read the actual bill. It took me a couple months but I read all 1000+ pages of it. I doubt the people holding the webinar can say the same.
I am completely aware what it's really about, what's true, and what's not true. Because I've read the actual bill, I'm pretty confident in my opinion that it's complete crap. It may have been started with the best of intentions but fails miserably in execution.

Anytime you get a fill or even an unfill, it is good to do liquids for a day or two and then mushies for another day or two. Hope this helps!

Okay I've never been ideal weight in my whole life.....I mean NEVER! ALWAYS been overweight and always got in trouble every time I would go to the doctor....well the other day I went to the OBGYN and got on the scale and had lost 4lbs from what I was when I went to get a fill. The doc had no clue that I had lap band and I just knew I was going to get fussed at for being 366. So she came in asking about how I have been doing and I told her about my lap band and she just thought that was so awesome! She was so proud of me for taking the step to a healthier me and so glad that my weight was gradually coming off and at a slow pace. I never heard once "well you know you need to watch what you eat" or "you know you need to lose more weight that that" it was ALL positive things about my weight and I've literally never had that happen before. It was nice to hear something good from a doc :-)

I never step on my scale, don't like the numbers. Anyway this morning I decided to see how I was doing since my shirts and pants are feeling loose. The first time it showed I had gained 6 pounds, (WHAT) I knew that couldn't be right so I stepped off and zeroed it out and tried again, It now showed I had lost a pound. In all I tried 6 times got 6 different readings with a difference of 7 pounds. I should have stopped at the lowest reading and been happy not confused. I think I need a new scale or new batteries.

Kristi Twisti reacted to ASM in 3 year anniversary
I got a happy 3 year anniversary email today and since I haven't been on here in a very long time, I thought I would post.
I honestly thought it had been longer than 3 years. Life has been such a roller coaster.
I did very well for 10 months, I was down 70 lbs and doing great, then went for a fill which involves 10 hours of driving time. It was the first time the nurse did the fill instead of the Dr and by the time I was home I knew it was too much. But I hoped with time and liquid diet it wold settle down and be ok. That started a long time of frequent stuck episodes and a plateau that lasted for over a year. Then I found I had a tare in the meniscus of my right knee, while in the wait and see how it does phase with the Dr (I had been getting shots in it for 3 years then) I tore it so badly it required surgery. Over the next 6 months I gained 22 lbs and there I sit still.
Currently I am recovering from having my gallbladder removed last week, been diagnosed with GERD which seems to be responding to treatment. I guess I had that and gallbladder trouble for years before the lapband and didn't know it. I must say, some of what I thought was the overfill causing stuck problems now seems to be the GERD, (which the overfill probably made worse) because since following the instructions from that Dr, I have not been stuck.
Now that I can eat again without fear of getting stuck all the time, or running for the bathroom because the gallbladder was making me sick, I am going to get back with the program and take off what I gained and the other 30 lbs I still needed to lose!
    130 here I come!

This stuff is D E L I C I O U S! I try to plan my meals in advance, but sometimes I don't want what I've brought for lunch and today was one of those days. I was at Walmart anyway and decided to check out the frozen food section for new things to have at work. It's really hard finding frozen meals that aren't loaded with carbs - they all seem to have rice, Pasta or potatoes in them, argh! However, I thought since this was Atkins, I'd suck it up and have the small amount of pasta in the meal. I'm so happy I did. This tastes almost home-made and it's very filling. I think this could easilly be 3 meals for me, it's plenty of food.
    Here are the nutrition facts:
360 calories per serving (for bandsters the package is 2 or 3 meals - 120 or 240 calories)
    33g Protein (11 or 22g)
7g net carbs (avoid the pasta and erase that)
Anyway, I give this product two thumbs up...I can't wait to try their other varieties soon.

So Friday night I had two of my granddaughters overnight. One is 13 and the other is 9. Well I took them out to dinner, as grandma's house does not have much food! While sitting waiting for them to eat, I did not eat there, but my 9 year old granddaughter Jessica piped up and said "Grandma your butt's getting smaller!" After I got through laughing I thought well that's cool because kids speak such truth. My guy friend had told me I was losing my fine white a@@! But when my granddaughter commented I knew it must be!

Hi there. This is my second day after surgery. I think something that has helped me is walking. They had me up and around right after surgery. The night I came home after the surgery I went for a 30 minute walk and I am doing that everyday. I don't want to do it, I feel tired and sore but once I am out for the walk I feel so much better and the gas starts to dissapate.
I am trying to get in as much Water as I can and have also found hot tea to be very soothing. I also found a Protein Shake that I really like and can easily dring - Muscule Milk Light, chocolate.< /p>
I have noticed if I go too long with out the pain medication I get very cranky and irritated.
Hang in there, it will get better. Take your mind off of it, read a book, find a hobby, etc...
