  • Popular Post

I threw out the junk I had, IM going to exercise today, I am going to my lapband doctor and if I gained, I will face the music and hopefully I will get a fill. I see my therapist today and will talk to her about how I am using food to deal. Onward and upward!

Thank you carolinagirl. You're saying stuff I should be telling myself. Thank you. Slow and steady wins the race.I can't expect to tell myself these things if IM not used to doing it, right? Isn't there a saying a journey starts with a single step? Well IM stepping

That's one good thing about the band is you can start over!! Get a fill and get in the green zone!! Good luck to you all!

Yippee! So happy you are finding this place of recommitment. Keg that switch in your head toggled in the right direction. I find fall is a good time for healing and hunkering down -- let's all work our you-know-what's off this winter and have something to celebrate in the spring. And Irish Eyes, it sounds like you are really lining it all up -- glad you're going in for a fill and weaving in the exercise component, too. I have a feeling this is the secret to success. Best wishes to all -- you, too Bulldog and Songstress (hey, that sounds like the name of a band or a children's book!).

I'm starting over too. This coming Tuesday I have an appt with a new surgeon that will hopefully be of more help to me . I hope everything will be ok with my band as I haven't had a fill in over a year but because of eating improperly I have gotten stuck a few times.

I would hate to do a revision but if given a choice I'd do lapband w/ plication.

I'm going to start over like I just got banded. Like someone up thread said I think this Fall & Winter will be a great time to get back to business and I'm going to do it .

What is plication?

What is plication?

It's sort of modified version of sleeve..no cutting or removal. The fold the stomach in on itself and stitch it. I had it and not in the green but am doing great. Some have band and plication and never any fills

Congrats, SandyM,

Yes, I had my surgery 3 years ago. At that time I hadn't heard of plication and was not offered that option. If I was I may have opted for that. I cannot see cutting off a piece of my stomach unless I was seriously ill. So I didn't want to do sleeve or bypass. Though I'm not putting them down it was just not for me. I have a friend that got the sleeve just this past June and she's already down over 60 lbs. I lost 50 lbs my first year and then it stopped & I maintained for over a year but because of stress & emotional eating & drinking I'm now on the regain . This is so sad.

My band is 5 yrs old!! I lost 140 pounds and have gained 80 of that back.. I'm so frustrated. I didn't get a fill for a year, too much emotional stuff and I use food for comfort. I lost my fill doctor *Dr. Garwood.. and now using Dr. Stephanie from Tyler.. I'm getting there, but have stretched out my pouch. Bad eating habits have creeped back in.. just extremely frustrated.. :-/

Just start over. I know it's so much easier said than done but it can be done. I saw my new surgeon on Tuesday and I'm already back down 5 lbs.

I know what it is to be frustrated and to eat out of stress and emotion.

Your not alone. There is a lot of help here that's why I came back. Some can be a little harsh. I was on the site earlier this morning and witnessed an e fight but most are very helpful. And ready to give sound advice to help.

Don't give up just go back for your fill, I was dreading it and embarrassed and ashamed but I bit the bullet and back on the losing track. You can do it.

You lost 140 lbs, you can do it again.

I'm doing the same thing. I didn't realize how much of a struggle it would still be after having the surgery, but we can't dwell on what we did wrong- let's accept it and change it! Best of luck!!

I am so with you and everyone posting. I'm trying to recommit myself. I have had a lot go on in the last 2 1/2 yrs, and because of it I have gained major. I can't get into the clothes that I worked so hard to get into. I am planning to schedule an appt with my new surgeon to get a fill. The last time I was checked my port was good, so I know its me. That's a hard pill to swallow, but acceptance is the key to moving forward. So that's where I am. I'm trying to get back on my workout schedule also. I swam today and it felt great. I'm in Zumba and Pilates. This weight will leave forever!
