  2. My friends are great, except when we go out, "can you eat", "should we not do dinner this month"...my thought was you all eat to much anyway, and I am on a good path now, I exercise daily, I am careful about what I eat as I always have been but when in rome kind of thing......Anyway I tend to avoid things like that...makes me mad now....

I am now a llama, I spit when I get stuck and I get stuck 3-4 times a week. I eat mushies, like i am a toddler. I don't eat in front of people due to getting stuck and having to vomit. I make the most unhuman sounds when I am stuck. I miss chicken. I dislike eating at all anymore. I find myself drinking, protien shakes, water, and taking my vitamns. No one ever told me I was going to be a llama or a bulimic, I feel that way, no one ever told me before surgery that I would barf so often, and I HATE to barf, but for me it has to come up. I exercise, I do all I was told to and still I have issues, I wish I had known about this board before surgery and would have been able to ask people but I didn't, and I asked my doctor, DR MUPPETMAN is what I call him now. I am sad, and no one seems to get it... jeepy
  12. I can also work my stomach and get the stuck item out, I dont mean to sound negative, I guess I am, my only issue is i wish someone had been honest with me before surgery, I read and read and read , talked to my doctor and I was told, "sliming from getting stuck rarely happens"....BS!!!! I just feel like I was cheated on facts, whatever you choose you have the knowledge you need
  13. know I might be weird, but this is kind of the part that I am looking forward to. I like that eating will be just a chore. I am tired of food controlling my life. *I* should be controlling my life. I feel like overeating is an addiction to food. The hard thing is, you can't just give up food. Smokers can just quit cold turkey. We can't just not eat. This seems to be the biggest advantage to the band is it forces you to only eat out of necessity and to only eat small amounts of nutritious foods and then move along with your day. Eating is a social thing, but nothing says you can't still sit at the table with a glass of Water and enjoy the social company of those around you without eating a heaping plate full. I agree to a point, I do go out with friends and not eat, i find myself skipping meals or just opting for liquid due to the above i have stated, wait till you get banded, you will see the difference, and I actually hope you don't have this issue, it stinks and it's annoying, I have taken back my life, and I will continue but I do miss enjoying a simple piece of chicken, after a spin class, the simple things.
  14. I think getting banded changes how you look at food, I no longer look at it as a coping skill, perhaps it was getting stuck ALL THE TIME, I can't eat chicken, granted my doctor told me certain foods I would say good bye to and I was ok with that, but every damn thing I eat, so i am on liquid, dare I go off liquid I get stuck, I have asked my doctor about this and he thinks I eat to fast, don't chew enough, and I know it's not that.... I no longer enjoy food, I think of eating as a chore, as a pain in the ass due to getting stuck, if i am at work and I need to leave to throw up, or I start spitting to try and get it out, I tend to not eat around people due to fearing this...... Perhaps it will be different for you and I am only 3 months out but still.....
  15. I began going to the gym after work, I work in a hospital 2nd shift and my gym is 24 hours, no one there at that time, as I lost some weight I am still going and have even been going to spin class 2-3 times a week...I love it!!! it makes me cranky when I can't go, just do it once, and pretty soon it's habit forming....good luck
  16. Glad to see someone out there who has had some of the same issues, well not glad but I thought something was wrong with me...it made me sad, thinking I cant even do this right, down 52pds since Jan, my doctor thinks.."your ahead of the schedule"...I feel like to him I am a stat, and he dosent care that I miss food, I miss eating it and not barfing, today was a good day, nothing came back up, but these days are rare....... I am giving it till I am six months out and will decide, right now, i exercise 6 days a week, drink right....and we shall see..... Good luck
  17. I have 80 pds left to lose, give or take a pound or two, my lap band journey has been well not near like I was hoping, I had spoken to some people I knew and not one person said anything negative, only threw up once, was sick once, well what about being truthful.... I feel lied to, feed a line of crap by my doctor and all the people I spoke to, I eat, slow, I chew and I still throw up, one fill and I was throwing up before the fill, I am exercising, and taking back control of my life, band or no band, I was guilty I wanted a solution when in reality I was the solution, I can do this on my own, band or no band, I just wish I had learned this before I turned into a bulimic
  18. I am like you patty, I hate this thing, I hate that one day I am driving and puking into a plastic cup that I have to carry with me due to barfing all the time, I hate knowing that I cant go out to eat with friends because I may get "stuck" and "slim"......when I asked my DR before this thing, I was told.."you won't get sick often as long as you follow my instructions".....WRONG!!!!! I chew, I follow it to a T, and I get sick.... I have been banded since Jan and I am thinking of taking it out, I can do this with out a band, I have done it before and I can conqure this...... I should not have to go through this and feel like i am a bulimic....

i throw up a lot, slippage, if it happens it happens, no one should live being a bulimic which is what I feel like right now...
  20. See your the first person who has said this besides me, if one more person tells me it's due to not chewing I may just scream!!!!! I chew , I know how to eat and yet 90% of the time I am barfing, never in my sleep but always after meals, sometimes I am fine but at least 3-4 times a week, told my doctor and he told me "you aren't chewing well enough"...REALL!?????!!!! how about broths, I dislike my doctor a lot and I am re thinking this whole damn thing...... Good luck and let me know....
  21. I have a nipple piercing and my ear done ( up high)...the nipple I took out I knew it would not close in a day, and my earring up high I left in and signed a release......should be fine.
  22. gym, something in the gym everyday, start small, but go everyday until you find yourself wanting to go, driving there with out thinking.."gotta go to the gym"..I just added spin class, down 46 pds since january....good luck

I hate my band, tonight i ate soup, really and for no reason I barfed it up, I am sick of barfing, I am sticking to a "diet" which I am not hungry on, I eat slow, exercise yet I find I am barfing 3-4 times a week....
  24. I myself am not a super person, it took me 3-4 weeks of bruping, gas pains, throwing up, and feeling like utter crap, your normal... I have been banded since 1/14/11, and the same thing, the person i spoke to was all for it, described it as a "GREAT THING"... I want to shake that person and say.."YOU LIED"..... I personally feel like I was lied to and I hate this thing, BUT I am going to make the best of a POOR decsion......
