  1. So....CT brought it up and I have been thinking about if for a while....anyone have any good ideas for a group name? Let's throw out some ideas and then I'll compile and we can put it to a vote!! Here are some I was thinking of: October Optimists October Originals October Outlaws October Octolosers or Octosleevers? Anyone else have any ideas?? Need some creative juices around here!!
  2. Hey, Boo. I've added you to our roster. Welcome! So glad you're here! I totally know what you are going through about not telling anyone. People are SO judmental and can be condescening, even when they love us...in fact, I think it's worse when they love us and want to give advice (unwanted normally!) I have told almost everyone that i am having laparascopic hiatal hernia repair. It's almost the same type of surgery, the same routine, the same time, same recovery, etc, just what they do inside of us that's different! Maybe if you run into your aunt, etc, that would be a good cover story? Anyhoo, glad you're here with us - welcome to our family...we won't judge you or make you feel bad!!
  3. Hello, kygal1982, Terry H,. Bakomom, A New Day, Pixie Jen, Courtines, Angelica. Wanted to wish you guys a huge good luck today and let you know we're thinking about you! Feel free to share your experiences with us when you are feeling up to it and please at least drop a quick note to let us know you're safely on the other side so we don't worry about you! Take care, sip, sip, walk, rest, repeat!!
  4. Welcome, all our new October Sleevers! I have added GetInMyBelly, ButterflyTX, meohmy, AussiePatto, vf59, ~eclipse~, StLouisSarah and AnneAC. So glad you guys are here to share with us and be a part of our little family!!
  5. Wow, you guys are amazing, and giving me such hope that I will be just fine after surgery! I love that you took 'only' 4 naps, 5!! Heh heh... Yah, no more 5 hour shopping sprees, Mim...wow! So proud of you guys!!
  6. Yay, Shamrock! So glad everything went well and you are recuperating nicely.....keep us posted!
  7. How are you doing today, 5? Better luck with liquids??
  8. YAY! Yours is the same day as mine, Vegas......I'm nervous, too!
  9. LOL, Smokey! I love that. I have a little words saying on my kitchen wall that says "Never trust a skinny cook". I was also thinking the other day, I will have to change it!!!
  10. Yah, I can see that. My biggest fear is, why would the sleeve make me stop eating when I'm full??? I certainly don't stop now when I'm full....I eat all the time when I'm not hungry. Why would it be any different with the sleeve? Just a smaller tummy? Doesn't make sense to me.....that's my biggest fear. I just take into account what so many say on here, that it truly is different and you really don't want the food anymore.... We'll see. I just hope and pray that I won't be one of the ones who STAYS hungry all the time after the surgery
  11. Dang, CT!!! Somehow I missed this post, but I just caught it and added you to our little family! So GLAD you are here! Whoo hoo!!!

  13. K, Monty, you know I can't give advice, because I haven't had my surgery left, but I am cracking up over the ghrelin taking up permanent residence and going on a rampage comment....that was hilarious!!
  14. Hey, Laura....if you'd like, please come join us on the October 2011 sleevers board....we'd love to have you in our family! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/108-october-2011-sleevers/
  15. Kara, how far up in the Yukon are you? I am having my surgery in Seattle, too, but I live here, but I am originally from BC. Glad you will have good care when you get home since are up there a ways! How old are your boys? Mine's 2 1/2.
  16. Yukon!! No way....I almost went there! I work in Lynnwood, live in Marysville....hey, Neighbor! I've added you to the list, Sweets! Maybe someday we will have to meet and compare stories You are one day ahead of me!!
  17. Lol, okay, how weird is that! Two Stephanie's on the same day.....you two will definitely be Sleeve Sisters!! I have added you, SmallSteph New nickname, lol. I, for one, can't wait to read all your posts when you are off for 6 weeks!!
  18. Hey, everybody!! Since we're all moving right along and we've had a couple of our loved ones check back in after their surgery with their experiences, pain level, expectations, etc, I thought I'd post a thread where we can post as soon as we are able to after surgery to help those of us who have not had theirs yet. Please feel free to share how you're doing, how the surgery and afterwards went and how it was different, or the same, from your expectations. So proud of you guys, (all of us) for taking this huge step to a new life.....this takes lots of courage and strength and I love that we can all support each other through this! So, speak up, post your experience, and, please, any and all advice..... Love you guys :grouphug4:
  19. Monty! So glad you checked in!!! And so happy you had such a great, easy experience. I can only hope mine will go as smoothly as yours Stay hydrated and stay rested and check in when you can to let us know how you're doing. So proud of you!!
  20. Hey, Yukon! You're an October sleeve buddy!!! Come join us on the October 2011 sleeve board! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/108-october-2011-sleevers/ As to the whole, 'why don't you stay on this diet' question, there was a perfect answer on here a while back and I'll never forget it....can't remember if it was Papa Jack, Rootman, or?? But he said his reply was, "Can you hold your breath for 30 seconds?" And then after they reply yes, he asked, "Can you hold it for an hour"? Perfect come back. Another words, of course you can lose weight on a two week liquid diet, but can you do that for your whole life? Of COURSE NOT! People that ask that question annoy me so bad. Anyhoo, come and join us other October Sleevers on the loser's bench, Honey!
  21. We know you're probably recuperating and trying to find your way back to some semblance of normal, but check in when you can.....we're worried about you and want to be sure everyone is okay!!!:grouphug4: Hope all is well and remember, sip, sip, walk, rest, repeat!!! Love you guys! Be strong and heal fast!
  22. Beach!!! So glad you checked in!! Been thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way :huggie: How is the pain worse than your Csection? Is it in your incisions? Is it the gas? Is it your tummy? Member what they say, sip, sip, walk, rest, repeat. Hang in there. I am worried that I am underestimating the pain, too. I also had a Csection, but have a really high tolerance for pain and heal well. But I know that this surgery knocks some down as they weren't expecting it. Just get lots of rest  , drink lots (or as much as you can!) Keep us posted cause we're all worried about you and thinking about you!!!
  23. Hey, 5!! I was gonna check in with you!! How are you doing?? Nervous, excited, all of the above?? I am so freakin' excited for you....please post as soon as you can afterwards so we all know you're all right and home safe!! I'll be thinking about you all day tomorrow. Still haven't heard much from our 3rd siblings, but I'm sure they're still recuperating!
  24. Welcome, Honey! So glad you came to join us!! I have a little boy and my hubby works nights, so I'm sort-of by myself, but nothing like the valuable sacrifice you and your family make for our country! Look forward to sitting on the loser's bench with you!!
