  1. Stop and breath!!! To be honest I cheated before surgery and i couldn't stick with the liquids. After surgery I have had success and stuck with my plan so don't be to hard on yourself. Try to have some portion control but trying to withold food is going to make you binge. Maybe you should go ahead and put in for the surgery to get your leave approved and then if you can't have surgery by then tell them you aren't going to need your vacation after all. I only took 2 days off and didn't tell my employer why but my best friend did it under FMLA and they couldnt deny her time off for all her follow up stuff. Good luck
  2. Yes mine does with excercise and also if my bowels are moving a lot. Not trying to be gross but honest
  3. You may be to tight. You will know by morning for sure. If you develop a cough, reflux, or back pain then you are too tight. Don't suffer through it just get some removed if it is too tight. It is amazing how a small amount can make such a difference. Are you getting things down okay? My band seems to tighten for a few days after a fill and then settle. Good luck
  4. So you have lost 15 pounds in less than two months and you think there is something wrong??? You sound like you are right on track. YAY you!!! You will hit that sweet spot and have a good month or two but your body always has to recover and adjust to weght loss. Remember your first few visits and I bet your doc or nurse said Lapband isn't for rapid weight loss. It is meant to be slow but steady to prepare your body for success. I didn't lose more then 5 pounds the first 3 months then the 3rd fill was a miracle and I dropped a lot. You are on the right track and doing great!!!
  5. Lulu.... It is not a miracle. It will take work and it is not easy. You still have to watch what you eat and how much you eat. The band is just another tool in your toolbox. I can tell you that it hasn't been easy. It has been as hard as trying to lose it without the band but I have a little more control with the band. If you are looking for something that you get and then just wait for "it" to make you lose weight then NO this will not work and will not be worth it. If you have made up your mind that you are changing your lifestyle FOREVER and this is just to help you then yes you will be successful and it will be worth it. For me it has been worth it but the weight loss has been slow and i have had to work hard at it.
  6. Seriously you can't fail at something in two weeks. Relax and let the band work. Most people including myself do not even feel any difference until their 3 to 4th fill. Most seem to gain weight the first few weeks but remember they put a lot of fluids in during surgery and there is a lot of swelling and your body is trying to figure out what to do. You will be hungry until you get to a certain point with your fills but it usually isn't after 1 fill. Try to stick with your program for food as best you can and quit trying so hard. I ate a lot of poscicles and still do to get over the humps when i can't seem to stay full. The main focus is portion control and protein. You will be ok.
  7. First of all start writting down your questions to make sure you get to ask all you want at your appointments. I can't tell you anything about the process because I was a cash pay patient and I had a consult and surgery within a month but could have had it a week after my consult. The doctors walk you through the process but I have read on here that it can take a while to clear insurance. I think if someone talks about a BMI that is to high then they mean for lap band but another weight loss surgery would be better. Lap band is meant for slow and steady weight loss and within a few years you should be at maintenance weight so sometimes a larger person might need to go with gastric bypass or something else but your doctor will help you decide that. Don't worry about your BMI because a lot of people lose a lot of weight on the presurgery diet. Each surgeon is different about their preop and criteria. Just relax and get the most out of your experince. God luck!!!
  8. If you are consuming enough calories in sliders to gain weight then I don't think you are really at your sweet spot. That is a classic sign of being overfilled. My best friend has a band to and she fights this battle but it is a mental battle. She gets fills to "fix" her eating problem and can't eat anything but drinks cokes, ice cream, chips, etc. Then she starts getting food like Tacos and nachos down but continues to say "I just can't get anything down except the foos I can't have". One day I went to lunch with her and she ate the entire plate of Mexican food then later was upset about her weight gain. I finally called her out on how much I watched her eat and that she is over filled. My advice would be the same to you as to her... go back to basics. Start back with day 1 post op and if you aren't mentally ready then for goodness sake get the band deflated (quit hurting yourself just to gain weight and get it filled when you are mentally ready to start back. You would probably stop gining if you get deflated and just eat normal for a while. It really does seem to be a mental thing with some people..... I hope you find your Mojo again
  9. I dont know if it is the fill or just timing but last time I went for a fill I got a horrible migraine. Since I fly to my surgeon I asked him if he could prescribe me a pill so I could make it back home. He said it is very common and prescribed me a nose spray. He said it knocks headaches right out and won't make the band tighten or stomache irritation. He was telling the truth!!! I carry it with me now. I can't say it was the fill because I fly there so there are a lot of changes with altitude, allergies, stress, etc but the spray is wonderful. I also didn't realize how much headache medicine (NSAIDS) was messing with my band until I stopped taking them.
  10. You should use a vibrator just to make sure you still have your Mojo. The first few times will be weird but once you relax and go with it WOWZERS!! After I had a tummy tuck I had no feeling in my breast or abdomen for a few years because the nerves get damaged in surgery and take a while to "reroute" themselves so could that be the problem.
  11. Going through this now (at least i'm hoping thats the problem). i have gotten so tight I can't eat much and even cold liquids like ice tea are having a hard time. I choked on mashed potato yesterday and thought I was gonna die...lol.... I am also getting heartburn at night but none during the day. I have been living on very liquidy refried beans for a few days. I can't seem to get dairy products down so beans are my next source of protein. I was doing fine and then all of the sudden my band got tight and I should start this week so I hope thats the problem. The heartburn is the worst part of it.

I had got sick and they deflated my band and when I got well I started with .5ml fills every 30 days so I really didn't make good choices and ate larger portions. We are back on track now so I guess thats all that matters.
  13. I had that experience but I figured out it isn't necessarily the protein. It is because if most of your diet is liquid then your waste will be liquid. I would be careful with immodium because once u get to eating and it is high protein then you will probably have constipation.
  14. I found the best protein drinks at a place called weight loss zone here in Amarilo. They had about 20 flavors and most mix with water not milk. Most flavors only have 1-2grams carbs. Grape, Lemonfrazz, and cinamon hot chocolate are my favorites.
  15. If you could lose it without the band then why did you get banded? I personally had been working out at least 5 days a week for several hours a day and killing myself trying to diet. I would lose a few pounds but gain twice as much back. Since the band I have lost 20 pounds and I have not had to be at the gym several hours a week. I can go like a normal person and do a normal workout. It is a change that you have to adapt to but trust me it is working. I am confident that I will continue to lose weight so the band is definately worth it....... Nothing tastes as good as skinny is going to feel!!!!
  16. What pouch? You can eat ice cream....if you want. Cold foods tend to make the band tighter.
  17. banded 4 months and lost 23 pounds. Paid 100% of cost (insurance wouldn't cover) and don't regret it. Still trying to get it all figured out.
  18. My guess is everyone cheats. If we had that much will power we wouldn't be having this surgery. I cheated but I am a nurse and knew what would metabolize fast. I ate Salmon because I was starving and exhausted. The preop is to shrink the liver and carrots aren't going to make a difference on your liver. My advice would be to keep your cheating secret from now on .....
  19. remember men do tend to lose weight faster then women so try not to compare to him.
  20. I have the same problems. The burping is the band but IDK why it does that. My stomache growls most when my band is really restricted and I am consuming mostly liquids. My best friend has experienced the tight chest and everytime she has gone through that it was because her band was too tight or she was still eating too fast.
  21. It seems all the doctors have their own way of doing fills. My doctor makes us come in once a month for first four months for fills and then you just call when you feel you need one. I see some on here that have not had a fill even six months after surgery. I know you want to move this along but enjoy what you got in the moment also. Once you reach restiction it is constant adjusting..... to loose then too tight.
  22. My band has gotten so tight all of the sudden. I can't even get mashed potato down. I have been on liquids for 5 days and still no relief. All I can think of is the extreme heat here in Texas.
  23. mmmmm enchiladas...... I had to wait 4 weeks and they had deflated what was in it because I fly back and forth. I didn't feel a lot until my third fill and then WHOAAAA. I can't find a good comfort level.
  24. I am wondering the same thing but on the opposite extreme. I had a fill June 11 and had to go back about two weeks later and have some removed. I was doing great and eating a variety of foods and no more than a cup at a time. Then all of a sudden two weeks ago I started having problems. I can't eat anything!!! I have been on liquids for 5 days. I can't even eat pudding or mashed potatoes because I start PB it up. I burp when I have anything even liquids. I am not hungry for the most part so I think that means I am VERY restricted and not to loose. I have a hard time getting protein drinks down. I started feeling the effects like headache and extremely sensitive skin so I am now doubling my vitamins and the sensitive skin is resolving (sign of vitamin B deficiency). I dont' live close to my doctor office (6 hours) and I am getting into a new bariatric surgeon that just started practice here so I can't go in until Friday. I just don't understand what caused the sudden change and how to get it back.
  25. I have never heard of pineapple juice.. What is the reasoning? Can you actually drink anything when something is stuck?
