  1. I just came in from driving bus, the kids, the noise and the others drivers out there, yuk!:faint: Then I go on my computer and all is forgotten. The posts on feeling guilty, were perfect, just what I needed to read about. I hadn't thought about WLS in the same way I do my pillls for blood pressure, depression and what ever else I have to take them for. Most definitly to save my life. Thanks
  2. Hi deb717, My date is the same as yours Feb 12th. My friends and family keep asking if I'm getting scared. No, I just wish I could have done it without WLS. I feel like I'm cheating. I know I'll still have to work at weight lose but I'll have something to help me now. So I'm going to think positive and work hard and pray that after 30 pounds or so I'll be able to walk with out my knees screaming at me. Take care
  3. Who would ever guess one could be excited about surgery. Congratulations to all who have gone so far. Keep us will-bees up todate on your progress. This is just to exciting!.!
  4. Devana, do I hear you, I'm 54 and no children at home, but I have 6 grand-children under the age of 5. I want to play with them, down on the floor without help getting up. Take them to the park (not by car) that is close enough to hear children playing at it from my house. When I watch them my biggest thrill is when they take a nap, so I can too! HOW SAD!!! But things will be different this summer when they come to Grandmom's camp!.!.!
  5. I think I'll start celabrating my birthday Feb 12th (Banding day). This is the begining of a new life. When the doctor asked me what I wanted to lose, I said to a size 12/14. Seems a long way from a 24/26. I had to go to my own doctors office yesterday because of an onging sore throat that didn't clear up with the last batch of antibiotics. The doctor I saw hasn't seen me in a while. So was so excited for me when I told her I was being banded this month. She hopes she will see me in 6 months, (No Problem there, I catch everything going around from the kids on my school bus)She was the first doctor I saw at that practice. So she knows of my weight issues. Will be 55 this summer. Thanks
  6. Good luck to those who "go first" on your banding. Will look forward to you letting us know how things are going for you. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
  7. Terriho What a lucky break for you. Jumping up a month. And, your banding on the same day as me. Good Luck:clap2:
  8. Anyone on here thats having or had surgery at U-Mass Worcester, MA. I went to the post-surgery meeting, but most there had the gastric bypass. Their issues all seemed to be different.
  9. I just got back from my pre-tests. Chest xray, blood work and a EKG. I hope everything is to their liking. I have to drink clear liquids the day before. Thats it! Now I just wait till Feb.12th. Good Luck to All.
  10. How fast is recovery? My surgery is on Monday Feb 12th, if every thing goes well will I be able to drive on Friday? (When I had my tubes tied I went shopping as soon as they let me out the door of the hospital.) I drive school bus, and the next week is school vacation, I don't want them to be able to say I'm out do to surgery and mess up my unemployment.
  11. I'm having him, he's doing my surgery Feb 12. Very pleasant
  12. Dear Marrakesh Before you do anything, you talk to your psychologist! Tell her how you are feeling. If you have your food issues under control I wouldn't think you would feel deprived because you can't have more. It takes along time to overcome problems, then add weight issues. . .a real bag of worms! Talk to your Doctor and psychologist.
  13. Hello Everyone, my pre-tests are Monday, I kind of wish they would say I have go on a liquid diet, I'm feeling like everyday is my "last supper", out of control or maybe food is just on my mind all the time right now. I never thought about food before, I just ate when I wanted to. Anybody else feel that way before the banding day?
  14. LouiseR. . . I hear you about wishing to do a pre-test diet, I don't have to either. Just Liquids the day before. It would be like practicing, having to do it for a while before. Then those who do get a head start on their weight loss. The Carnation Breakfast with 1 cup fat free milk is about 15 grams of protein. Just how many grams are we suppose to get aday.
  15. Just got my paper work with my appointments and all it says is no fasting for the pre-tests, then clear liquids and then nothing after 12:00 midnight the day before surgery. How can there be such a difference between Drs.?
  16. As I have said, I started this whole procedure in April 06 and finally have my date, Feb. 12. I have BCBS. This has taken along time, friends and family were asking do you have a date yet? When I started they said about 16 weeks. Some where along the way the time must have been changed, but nobody told me. But it is here now, so hopefully they don't cancel or postpone this.
  17. I am still excited about having my date for surgery, that I'm not sleeping good at night. I wake up thinking they'll call and say for some reason it's been cancelled. Anxiety? I had one attack that sent me to the hospital, Doctor's were sure it was a heart attack, after a night and all kinds of tests, it was nothing. Anxiety, I was to worked up about a test I had to take to keep my bus drivers license. The next one I just ignored, I wasn't going through all that crap again. The body certainly plays nasty games. Good Luck to you all. Bonnie
  18. I'm having Dr. Kelly, I met with him in Dec. My surgery date is for Feb 12. I didn't ask for anyone special, he was the next Doctor available. Very pleasant. I'm thrilled! My pre-surgery-tests appointment, is Jan 29.
  19. I just got a call from the hospital, to confirm my appointment (Jan,29th) for my pre-tests, EKG, chest x-ray, blood work and meet with the anesthesologist. I didn't dream it!!
  20. I was so forthcoming about myself that the psycologists had me seeing another psycologist (I hate being fat to the point I would rather be dead than have the health issues that my parents have). He didn't really understand why I was there. So we worked on my needle fear.
  21. Just came in from my bus run. Someday soon It will be alot easier checking those seats, fitting down that isle:cheer2:. My pre-tests are Jan.29th. I have to miss the morning run. I'm so excited, even these tests are looking good to me. I had to see a physiologist for my phobia of needles. He says I'm ready. I've had a few needles, one in the elbow, an IV, and blood drawing (can't exactly practice this). But I want it so bad that if I'm not ready they'll (Doctors) have to deal with it, or me. TracyinKS - thanks for adding me to the list
  22. not sure how I did this or will it how up again?
  23. :phanvan Can someone help me, I went to "tickerfactory". Everything went fine till I got to the cut and paste, I do not know how to do this. Help! I'm the only one here in this house who can use a computer. And I'm alittle sad in that department.:help:
  24. dedi717 Yes Feb.12 is the day of surgery. Pretests are Jan.29th. I'm scared, but I want a new life. I need to know there is life after 50. I have about 100lbs. to lose. BMI of 42. As for exercise, I use to walk, up untill my knees hurt so bad I thought I needed surgery. But I had to lose weight before they would except me for surgery(made no since to me, thats why I'm here). Anyway that 12lbs made my knees feel "some" better. So I might be able to walk after a few more pounds. I drive school bus, I go past the high school, so I use to leave early enough to walk the track. I even got another driver to meet me and walk. So thats where I want to start. thanks
  25. I got the call from my Doctor's office today, my insurance has excepted me. YES! YES! YES! were my exact words to the woman on the other end of the phone. From April 06, to Feb 12,07. I'm so excited and so up for this, I hope my 54 an half year old heart can stand the excitment. Thanks
