  1. I can relate to the pain at night when laying down on that side. mine feels as if the stomach fat maybe caught between the band, stomach, and ribs(weird) I have to toss and squirm a while to get comfortable and then be awakened by caughing and reflux. reflux is in the past now, but I still hurt in that area when exercising. The Dr. said
  2. Thanks guys, I am glad and I'm feeling better already. Slept wonderfully the past couple of nights without reflux or being propped up. my upper belly is slowly going down some and I'm burping out air. what a relief!
  3. After getting an unfill 6 mos. ago, My Dr. insisted that I get a small fill 6 weeks after. Againgst my better judement I did what I was told and again, the caughing started, the reflux was bad, and I had cricks in my neck due to being propped too high on pillows. I tried to deal with it for a couple of months before going back for unfill again. My Dr. said that he believed that I am where I needed to be and wouldn't give me an unfill. He said that he was soon leaving and maybe the new surgeon would :-(. Anyway, after his departure 6 weeks later I went back and had 5cc removed. Feeling much better now and may have to be converted :-(
  4. Thanks Guys, This makes sence
  5. Hello bandsters, I've been posting for a while now about not losing. banded nearly 3 yrs in August. I still have at least 45 more pounds to lose. I would like to know if there are any bandsters that have converted from the band to either the sleeve or gastric bypass. This is the option that my health care is asking of me. I really want to keep my band but if it's not working for me, and by me being diabetic, they want to remove the band and go with one of the other options. Let me know if you have converted and how that is working for you. I have 2 weeks to think about it!!
  6. Yes I'm having this pain now. You actually posted what I was getting ready to post..LOL Every 2-3 months I have this pain in that area and it sometimes worsen when I take deep breaths. I too have a lot of gas and was wondering if I should monitor what I eat more carefully. My Dr.says its a muscle strain due to that being a sensitive area near the port and it can be easily aggravated. After sitting, I have to slowly stand up straight and get that stiff cramp/pain in tact before walking. After 1-2 weeks it goes away. I worry about erosion and a slippage also. Hopefully I can have some tests run soon.
  7. 4 weeks post liqiuds here also. one of the toughest things I had to do. as everyone say, Hang in there because YOu KNOW WHAT? that was when I lost the most of my weight. As much as I hate to think about it, I may have to start anew(liqiuds again) pending on what Im told to do on my next visit. You wouldn't want to have to do it again.
  8. Doing a liquid diet? Have you been banded yet?
  9. find a plastic surgeon and let him evaluate your situation. If Insurance pay, you will need to have a history of documentation.
  10. If eating however much I want, then I would guess yes, I am having complications. Even after my tight fills I still get hungry and can eat how ever what. I don't know how it could be but thats how it is. It's been 2 yrs and 9 months since banding and I haven't lost any weight in the last 1 1/2 yrs. I make myself stop eating and try not to eat much. I haven't gained any weight either because I really do try by stopping myself and walking daily. I feel as though I'm trying hard by myself and and don't have a band at all. Im getting a new doctor soon and maybe this one will take tests to see if everything is ok. unlike my original doctor. I'm hoping to get a little help from my tool.
  11. OK, thanks for responding. I'm thinking that this is what my Doc is going to do and I just wanted to know if starting over would help me break this plateau.
  12. Has anyone ever had to be completely unfilled and then gradually start getting fills again? If so, How are you doing with it. Did you have better results and start nto lose again?
  13. are you self pay or will insurance help pay? I want it too
  14. ppl SHOULD be supportive of our weight loss and not jealous, and it is hurtful to feel shunned. One of my co-workers said YOU DON'T NEED TO LOSE ANYMORE BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO LOOK SICK. Well, I still have weight to lose and I'm determined not to give up. Thanks for all of the encouragement and support.
  15. @BamBam, Depressing? You're right. so in order for me to seek the true friendship that you mentioned, I suppose I have to start all over with a new set of people that never knew me before at all. Is that the answere?
  16. I was really hoping that jealousy wasn't the answer but truthfully, I believe it is also. I suppose it's been seen so much that the psych Dr. knew what she was talking about and what was ahead to come.
  17. Hello, I was banded in '09. Although I'm struggling now to get back on track, I remember what was said in my pre-op support meetings. They wanted to make sure that this is what you really want to do because people will treat you differently once you lose weight. I said I'm sure of what I wanted and needed to do,and that my family and friends would be happy and support me. Now I'm beginning to wonder. I still have weight to lose But I can feel a rift from my co-workers and bowling friends. At work, they're not talking as much and I catch them staring. At my bowling league, they do the same. The females walk by without speaking as they use to and they are no longer inviting me to go on tournaments out of town the way we used to. I can't think of a single thing that I may have done. I'm feeling a little abandoned and lonely at times, but I still have at least 20 more lbs to lose. What will happen then?
  18. Congrats to everyone that is getting back on track. I'm startint to do the same. I was banded in '09 and have lost around 50 lbs. I've been there a year now so it's time to start over and take control again. You all have inspired me. Thank you!
  19. everyone add me......Try (bunn3950y)
  20. Hey guys, 2 more lbs to go and I will hit onederland for the first time in 25 yrs. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. Thanks!
  21. It could be that your Dr. want you to be careful of becoming dehydrated. Some Dr.'s look at coffee as being a diuretic.
  22. I KNOW IT'S HARD TO STAY OFF THE SCALE. I WATCH IT EVERY MORNING AND FEEL BAD THE REST OF THE DAY. ONLY 6 LBS TO ONEDERLAND AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THERE FOR THE PAST YEAR. CONGRATS TO YOU. I HOPE TO JOIN YOU BY THE END OF THE MONTH := )
  23. That's good news. I've lost half that amount and I've been banded since Aug. of '09. At 205 right now and have been there for a yr. Cant get under that 200 mark.
  24. Aviatrix, I can understand your feelings of being down, but please try not to let it get you too down. You seem to have a lot of support here and I wish you the best. I'm struggling with the feeling of being too tight and losing no weight. I've had fills and unfills to the point that I feel hopeless. I want to see another Dr. to have myself fully checked out because as it's been said, Sometimes your Dr. can give you a hard time and make things seem as if it's your fault. I often wonder if my band was placed correcly. I only want the problem to be corrected if so. I love my band but hate the reflux at night when laying down. I don't know if this is a symptom of a hiatal hernia or not, but I have a large upper belly that protrudes and this is another reason why I think I need an endoscopy. Anyone else have this going on? Could it be a hiatal hernia?
  25. I know what you mean. I've had several fills and had to be unfilled too due to being too tight. Everything I ate if not eaten very slowly, had to come back out. After being unfilled, I felt a lot better but had no restriction and ended up gaining a couple of lbs. Next week I'll be filled again. (hopefully not too tight) I need to lose 15 more lbs by summer.
