  1. I KNOW THAT THEY WILL. THEN START HATING WHEN I CONTINUE TO LOSE. I've heard it once before ( You need to stop losing now) or (you're getting too small. You don't want to look sickly do you?)that was when I was banded, but I was still slightly over 200lbs. I have never been under 200lbs my whole adult life. It will feel good when i do.
  2. Thanks Elidh. I'm getting so many negative vibes but I know I need to do something.
  3. Thanks for your input. I chose sleeve because I weigh 230lbs. I hope the reflux wont be an issue for me I had the band b4 reflux is why I had it taken out 5 yrs. ago, I've learned from my mistakes.
  4. Hello! I have been wanting to get rid of my comorbidities as much as possible. Therefore; I chose to have sleeve surgery. I'm older now and afraid to have it . I feel it may be harder on me due to my age 67yrs old now. I don't want to have any amputations, bad heart and kidney failure like my parents and some of my siblings. I want to get healthier before these things start to happen to me. I've been having these issues a very long time now and blessed that I've avoided these things thus far. I just feel that I need to do this. I have been trying on my own for a long time and now I'm seriously needing this tool to jump start my new healthy life style that I want to do. I want to live a little longer and have a life.
  5. Any diabetics having or have had vsg? I'm in my 60's and still want to live. No heart issues yet.

I had all the same symptoms as you. Acid reflux was awful at night. I had to stop eating at least 5 hours before bedtime and even that didn't always help. I slept on 3 pillows and coughed. My weight still remained the same, not losing. I was told that my band is no longer working and that it need to come out. I was in denial and was unfilled again. That felt so good to have the relief so after 3 months, I asked to have a small fill again. As you said, what a mistake. I went right back into his office the very next morning before going to work. There was no way that I wanted to go through that again. Just that one night of hell reminded me of what I went through. I am no longer in denial. It just didn't work out for me but it could for you. Everyone's different as they say.
  7. Well, first you have to find a bariatric Dr. near you and then attend one of their seminars. You can set it up from there.
  8. thanks, I loved my band and hate the idea of losing it. I'm sure my portion sizes didn't help at all, but when the Dr. asked me how much could I still eat, I always told him the truth (a lot). I just made myself stop eating but I was still hungry. No matter how many fills he was giving.
  9. Well folks, I suppose everyone is in the same shoes I'm in. Nobody will post here anymore. There is no reason to feel ashamed. The band just didn't work out. It started out helping with the weight loss very well. I lost 50lbs before the complications and hunger to its toll. Like many others here, I'm looking into the sleeve. Anyone else thinking about being sleeved or has already been sleeved? If so message me if you don't want to post here. Take Care!
  10. Im feeling depressed as well. I dont want to have another surgery either. I keep hearing from the clinic to make better food choices and to cut down on portion size. I thought the band was the tool I needed to help me with that problem. That was one of the reasons I chose to be banded. I've always stayed hungry and still do. I never had the restriction like It was advertised to give you. when I see the Dr. again, I will see about doing liquids longer to get my pouch small enough again to work. I also have to start working out more at the gym untill I sweat, B/C I'm not one that sweat either LOL.
  11. I was told that I have a dilated pouch and was unfilled, but was told to do only 2 days of liquids. I still have pain on the left side of my stomach. worse at times. I'm so fed up but dont want to lose my band either. no weight loss in 2 yrs. It's as if I've developed two stomachs. one above the other.
  12. for gas pains, walk, walk, walk as much as you can do and don't forget about the gas-x that's what helped me.
  13. 2012, U sound as if u have the same problem that I sometimes have. Approximately every other month I get that pain. It can last from 1-3 weeks. Dr.says pulled muscle, but every time? and I can never remember doing it. second Dr. dosen't even know why. I also have been too tight and have a huge dilated upper stomach now. Anyone else have this?
  14. People, I thought we were here to support one another. We are all human and have made mistakes. but to blame one another for a slipped band is like closing the gate after the horse has already escaped. It may be our fault for a failed band, but we need to be a little more understanding. I know I need all the support I can get. I feel badly about not losing all the weight that I could have lost and already feel like a failure due to my own errors and I'm sure others like me may feel the same way :)Much Luv
  15. Thank you everyone for the input. The band did help me to lose weight that I know for a fact I couldn't have done alone. I hate that I may have to lose it. although I'm no longer losing with it, for some crazy reason I feel secure with it being there.
  16. Well guys, I wrote before that I had a Dr.'s appointment today and I think I may give this band one more try. I feel that maybe It was all my fault for not completely following all the rules. I think I ate more than I should have. but I never felt full and always hungry no matter how tight my band was. Always filled and unfilled for 3 yrs. I have been unfilled for the past 2 months now. The good news is that I only gained 1pound. The bad news is that he told me that the band has done all its going to do for me and that I have a dilated pouch. I had 80 lbs to lose and in all have only lost 45. I still have diabetes and still on meds for high B/P and cholesterol. I thought that being banded would get me in control of these things but its not going to happen. He did mention that my option now is to go without a band,be sleeved, or have pypass. I would think that by-pass may be too much since I only have 30-40 more pounds to lose. Please give me some feed back. Were any of you in this situation?
  17. You are not alone. Im unfilled at the moment its been 2 months. I wasnt puking that much but had a lot of night time reflux.
  18. YOU'RE RIGHT JUSTDOLT130, MY DOCTOR ALWAYS ASKED ME HOW MUCH COULD I STILL EAT INSTEAD OF WHAT I WAS EATING. BUT I WOULD ALWAYS TELL HIM "A LOT". THESE POSTS ARE ENCOURAGING ME TO NOT GIVE UP AND TO START OVER. AND BABIGIRL819, THEY'RE RIGHT. YOU ARE STILL JUST STARTING REALLY AND EVERYONE IS GIVING SOME GOOD ADVICE. THIS IS ADVICE THAT YOU AND I BOTH SHOULD HEED TO. C'MON, WE CAN DO THIS!! DON'T GIVE UP.
  19. Thanks Brent, I've been back to the gym since but didn't do any ab exercises. I'm less sore and have less pain in that area, I still think that the pain has a connection with the Band. It's a different type of muscle pain (hard to discribe). I have an appt. tomorrow and hopefully he will order some tests. Thanks for the encouragement.
  20. I am nearly 3 yrs out and I still get that pain every time I start exercising. sometmes mine would last a week and sometimes it would 3 weeks. Dr. says it's a sensitive muscle there that I'm pulling. I went to the gym 3 days last week, and can hardly pull up from the table W/O pain this week-end. You're right, it hurts to inhale.
  21. I've been there as well, but although I was too tight, I still didn't lose a pound(strange). I had to stop eating at least 4 hours before bedtime and being diabetic it was a very hardthing for me to do. Night reflux was awful. I have since had 5cc's removed and I'm feeling so much better because I also waited too long. I need to make a decision quick about adding fluid back in. I may have to have it taken out
  22. THATS COOL, I wasn't sure where you were going with that remark. No Problem!
  23. Well, He said that he was going back to Illinois so I just left it at that. I didn't want him to be placed in an awkward situation or feel that I was prying into his business. I'm just curious as to why now? and since he left so suddenly, maybe someone else heard something that I hadn't heard. This wasn't meant to offend anyone." JUST ASKING"
  24. I was a patient of Dr. Rowitz at Anmed. I went to see him one day with an appt. and he told me that he was leaving. I had no idea that he was going to leave nor did I know why he was leaving. Does anyone have an idea as to why?
  25. Thanks much, I'm not having the pain at this time. As I said before, it comes and goes. I have an appt. in 1 week and hopefully its nothing too serious. I've read some negative things about my old Dr. since he has left that I am really afraid of whats coming next after seeing this new one.
