Diet Post op questions
My bariatric options class through Kaiser finally got a surgeon to come talk to us about post op diet. He said we would be on clear liquids for 4 days, regular liquids for up to 12 weeks, pureed foods from 12 wks to about 5 mos, then start shredded foods. He also said absolutely no gum, corn or grapes, and no drinking through a straw. So my question is, is this right? Am I going to be on liquids for 3 mos. and pureed for another two months after that? I don't think I could do that. I thought it would be around a month or two tops before I could start shredded or soft real food. Please let me know your experiences, and what your doctors gave you for a timeline. Maybe I"m wrong and this is normal for this procedure. All I know is if it's going to take almost 5 mos. to be able to eat real food, I'm going to be really frustrated.

Chinese food soups
In my options program they aren't really talking about post op diet yet, which freaks me out a little. I also tend to be obsessive, just because I would like to be somewhat prepared. I was wondering what egg drop and wonton Soup count as for post op diet. liquid? mushies? If I wanted to eat the wanton soup would I have to puree it? Are either of these well tolerated? Trying to create a post op diet for myself without eating the same stuff for every meal.

Haven't lost a pound on my diet
I'm losing inches I think. I had to suck it in to button my pants last week, and now they're loose, but the scale isn't reflecting that. I think perhaps I just gain muscle faster than I lose fat. My silly body

Haven't lost a pound on my diet
The person in charge of the program says that it's up to the surgeon, who I won't get to talk to until Feb. 20something. Frustrated, and wishing my body would just cooperate already.

Haven't lost a pound on my diet
I've been following my diet they gave me through Kaiser's options program, increased my exercise, and haven't lost one lb. I'm dissappointed in myself. I've also switched bcp twice since I've started, so perhaps my body is still trying to get used to the new hormone combination. Anyway...did this happen to anyone else? Did they still sleeve you?

I was wondering about sizes post op
Thank you! I am rather curvy, I remember being a size 12 the last time I was 150lbs. I was wondering if sizes had changed that much in 5 years. lol.

For those with sleeve post pregnancy
I'm wondering for those who have been pregnant with the sleeve, if you were able to lose the pregnancy weight? And if you gained a lot during pregnancy? I'm also wondering if you had any complications? Thank you.

pro's / con's to being honest about having surgery
I told my in-laws today, mainly because my MIL had the lapband a few years ago, and I figured she'd understand a little. She didn't. She was very negative, although that's probably related to her regret at getting the band (she hates it!). I told my sister in law because her and I used to do biggest loser competitions between us to keep motivated, and I would feel like a horrible cheater if she wanted to start another after I'd gotten my sleeve and I didn't tell her. She was very interested and supportive, so we will see. I told my mom a few days ago and my husband knew when I started the bariatric options classes that I'd be having something done. I haven't told anyone else yet though, and I don't plan to tell anyone else unless they ask.

I was wondering about sizes post op
Thank you all. I'm also wondering if my goal should be maybe a little lower in case of rebounding, so I'll settle around 150?

Vitamins?
Post op are gummy vitamins ok? I know that sounds funny, but I'm currently taking an adult gummy vitamin and wondering if I can continue it after surgery.

I was wondering about sizes post op
So. true. I just want to be able to run after my son and catch him. lol. If I can do that I will be happy. I would like to look hot too, but that may just have to be the added bonus

I was wondering about sizes post op
I was wondering what size you were when you began maintenance? I was also wondering what size you were at 150lbs? I'm thinking of making that my goal, but I can't remember what size I was when I was that weight. I'm currently 245lbs. and a size 20 at 5'3" and wondering if even 150lbs. is a realistic goal at this point. Thanks!

Birth Control after VSG
I was hoping to have the Paraguard IUD reinserted before surgery, but I had severe complications with my first one, so hmm... guess I'll just have to grill my surgeon a little more.

Birth Control after VSG
I was wondering how long before surgery people had to stop taking birth control pills, and how soon they were able to resume them after surgery? I am currently on Yaz if that makes adifference. I just don't want to get pregnant right now, and I'm EXTREMELY fertile if not on them. Just a little worried that 9 mos. post op I'll have a little blessing

wondering if you would share your results at 6 mos. post op?
I was hoping for some motivation. I realize that everyone is different, but I was hoping you could tell me your starting weight (or size), and your weight(orsize) at six months post op. I would really appreciate this. Thank you!!

Questions about protein supplements and weight loss pre-op
Thank you, I'll go try some. Can I ask how was the surgery?

Questions about protein supplements and weight loss pre-op
I'm not due to have my surgery until sometime in March, but I have Kaiser insurance, so we have to do the classes first. They require us to start our vitamin supplements and protein supplements so they're a habit by the time our surgery gets here, but they also expect us to lose at least 10% of our body weight before we have surgery. I have started a new birth control pill, so I'm grateful I haven't gained anything, but I'm wondering how I'm supposed to lose almost 30# by march...any tips or advice? I am on a 1400 cal diet, I'm just not losing more than 1/2 a lb. a week. Also, they require us to take the protein supplements, but I seem to have trouble digesting the whey protein, any recommendations?
