Did anyone try a last-ditch effort at weight loss with diet/exercise?
That's what I'm doing right now. My family was freaking out about surgery, so I told them I'd give it one last ditch effort. If I don't lose at least 3 lbs a week for the next month, then I'm having my surgery. If I lose more than 3 lbs a week consistently for over a month, then I have to call off surgery. That was the promise I made to my mom. I can't help but secretly hope I fail at the diet and exercise. I'll let you know how it goes.

Stitches Infected (Caution: Long)
It IS ILLEGAL for them to refuse to treat at any ER. If you want, you can report them. If you remember the nurses you can report them to your state nursing board, as well as the doctors. There is also a reporting agency for hospitals and doctors. I'm really sorry that they treated you that way. Keep your head up.

Sick. Sore throat, and low grade fever
Fever's gone. I just want an answer from my surgeon today, because some of my family is driving 8 hours to be with me after. I guess I'll call back.

Sick. Sore throat, and low grade fever
If they cancel my surgery, I really don't think I can afford to go through all these tests again. Or put my poor hubby through this emotional rollercoster.

Sick. Sore throat, and low grade fever
I'm excited about getting sleeved Thursday. But I woke up this morning with the sniffles, a sore throat, and fever of 100.1. Do you think they'll still sleeve me if I'm the same on Thursday?

What are you most looking forward too after surgery?
I can't wait to: Feel better about my body. I miss the one I used to have. Have a towel fit around me. Knee high boots Chase my son around all day at the park and not feel like I'm dying after. Go on a hike with my husband Not have people ask if I'm dieting if I don't order dessert at a restaurant Not have people think "why is the fat girl ordering dessert" if I go out Go ice skating again. I seriously miss this, but since I've grown larger I have a hard time with it. Better sex. It's good now, but it will be better when I feel better about it. Dressing my age again. There aren't that many plus size clothes that make you look like you're 22. lol. Working a ten hour shift without horrible back pain at the end of the night. Seriously, I came home crying the other day. Not good. After a few years, getting pregnant without all the complications I had with my son. Being the confident, sassy woman I was, but I've been trying to get back to this for awhile now.lol.

I JUST NEED SOMEONE TO LISTEN (PLEASE HELP)
I don't know the answers to your questions as I haven't been sleeved yet. But I'm so sorry your hubby is being so unsupportive. This group has been a huge source of support for me so far. We're all here if you need us.

antidepressants and the sleeve?
Ok. So went to my OB yesterday, thought I was having a negative reaction to birth control pills. Dr. now thinks I have PMDD, and wants to start me on an antidepressant. I've never been on one before, but my friend was, and she gained weight like crazy. I'm wondering how they'll be with the sleeve, and if there's one that won't cause me to gain weight? Thanks

Tattoos
Thanks!! I currently have one on my right shoulder, so you guys have given me hope that that one will still look okay once I'm at goal. I think I will wait until I'm really close to goal to get the other one though.

6 months post
Thanks. You are inspiring!! I hope that my results are as good as yours 6 months out, then I'd be 10 lb. from goal!!

Tattoos
I was wondering if you got tattoos while you were heavier, did they look the same when you lost the weight? I was debating on getting a tattoo but not sure if I should get if after I hit goal or now. I can wait, but I'd like to get it done in the next six months. I know a tattoo won't stretch because we're not gaining weight, but will they shrink? Thanks

5 days PRE-op
Hi all! I'm 5 days pre-op. I will be sleeved Thursday morning. I was freaking out about this a few days ago, but have calmed down a lot. I'm actually excited. I think it's because now on day 9 of my pre op diet, I'm not hungry anymore. I like this feeling. If this it what it feels like having the sleeve, I will be so happy. I still cook for my family, even though I'm not eating. This was really hard at first, but now it doesn't bother me. I hope this lasts forever. lol. I am so grateful to all of you on here who ask such wonderful questions, and have such wonderful answers to questions. My family was not supportive in the beginning of my journey, so you all were my only support system. This was fine with me. However, armed with some of your collective knowledge, and facts from my doctor, now my family has accepted this decision. lol. My mom is even excited for me. If I do well, my husband may even have it done. So I"ve got to rock my sleeve! And I think with the support of this group I can. Thank you all again for your support and knowledge, I am in awe of all of you and your amazingly positive attitudes!!

Strawberries
I miss strawberries, the smell of them makes my mouth water. How soon after the sleeve can I eat one? I usually eat them mushed up with a teaspoon of splenda (or frozen). I was planning on eating them when I get to mushie stage, but don't know if that's a good idea. Thanks for your input.

6 months post
Can I ask what you have done to get such amazing results? I know sleeve, but are you extremely low carb? How much do you exercise? Do you count calories? I'll be sleeved next week, hoping to have results as great as yours. I'll be at the same starting weight. Thank you.

4 Weeks Post-Op - Sleeve
I ordered the sample nectar packets, and found a few I liked. I can't handle the chocolate strawberry and vanilla flavors(ew), but I do well with the fruity flavors (lemonade and crystal sky). I've been able to handle the Isopure clear flavors, but they're not for everybody.

New and Starving ;)
I'm right there with you. Day 7 of a 14 day diet. I've found that the more protein I get, the better I feel. I've been buying the Isopure clear zero carb drinks(40g protein), and drinking 1/2 in the morning, and 1/2 in the evening. That makes me feel alot better. I'm so hungry when my husband made a veggie sandwich I was drooling, and he put cucumbers on it(HATE cucumbers)!! I must say though, Day 7 is definately better than day 3. Day 3 I was waking up in the middle of the night from hunger pains. Good Luck!! We can all do this!!

How soon were you allowed to go home after surgery?
My husband is taking time off to help out. I just don't want him to feel like he should be in two places at once to take care of us.

How soon were you allowed to go home after surgery?
I want to go home the same day, as my son will be spending the night at my moms. Or at least the next day, so my hubby won't feel torn between being with me at the hospital, and being with my son. I just don't like being in hospitals if I don't have to be.

Post op diets
Ok. My surgery is in 11 days, and my surgeon hasn't told me post op diet yet. I will call tomorrow to double check. How did your post op diets go? how many days clear, how many days full liquids, when could you move on to pureed or mushies? I know every surgeon and post op plan is different, and I will be consulting mine, but was hoping for your experiences.

Surgery in 3 days
All I can say is I'm 11 days away from surgery and scared too. I was so freaked out, I sat down and told my husband what my medical wishes are in case I have complications and am unable to make my own decisions. I'm not so worried about hair loss, but I am scared to death of failure. I am young, so no one in my family understands why I want this now. But I can't chase my son at the park. I can't stand on my feet for a full 12 hour shift, like I need to. Probly TMI, but I am so turned off by my own body at this point, that my marriage is suffering. I also know that after this surgery all of these things will change. I will be able to go on hikes with my spouse without feeling like I'm going to die going up a hill. I can keep up with my son. I will be able to stand on my feet without having them swell up at the end of the day. I know that this surgery could potentially lengthen my life, but I am still scared. And I think as rational human beings, this is normal. Because we have researched this enough to know what could go wrong. But we know that this is still our best option for a better future. PS. I also projectile vomit with barium, but there has to be something else they can give us right?

How soon were you allowed to go home after surgery?
I'm really worried about this, as I have a two year old at home. I'm hoping they'll let me go home the next day, but don't know if this is realistic or not. Please let me know when your doctors sent you home. Thanks!

Wondering why...
My dr. calls for two doses of Milk of Mag. the day before surgery. By that time I will have been on full liquids ten days, clear three, so my question is... why the milk of mag? Is it for those who've cheated? Because if you've had no solids for 14 days, there should be nothing to flush out right?
