Hi. Usually there is gas pain in the shoulders and maybe some pain in the abdomen. Other than that, that's all I experienced 8 years ago. Wishing you well!

Banded in 2010.... got down 100 lbs. Had an issue in April 2017, lost all Fluid, gained 50 lbs, now back on track. Looking to lose another 30 before the wedding in Sept.

Working on 8 years myself. I had an issue in April of last year that required the removal of all my Fluid. Went nuts with all the foods I decided to have that I couldn't before. 50 lbs. later I got fluid put back in and now working on getting that 50 off. So far I have about 13 lbs. off. Gotta get back to weight for the wedding.

I have had mine 8 yrs as well and started having abdominal pain at band site and intestinal inflammation. The upper GI found there is no restriction, but fortunately no internal damage. I find out this week what happens next. I also gained after my last child and weigh more than my pre-op weight. I am right there with you.

The very best revenge for something like that is success. Just smile and think about how great it's going to be to walk in to work everyday at your goal weight and she will still be struggling. Be sure to smile and be super nice to her the whole time!

I would say get a second opinion if the Dr maintains that a leak is normal. Lellow (member of this forum) has substaincial documentation on the leak that she experienced, everything they did and the ultimate result. I would recommend looking at her posts/blogs.

Hey everyone! Been awhile since I have posted on here since they revamped the website. Here's the backstory on myself. I had Lap Band surgery on May 21st 2013. My highest recorded weight was 344lbs and after 9 months post op, I'm currently at 243.6 and down 100.6lbs!!! In the last 9 months I have been documenting my journey on YouTube! See my transformation over the last 9 months!!

voldemort reacted to ashlee.819 in No Longer As Frustrated
Last week, I made a post about my frustration with my weight loss (or lack thereof) and today I am still in the same boat. I only lost .4 pounds this week which is frustrating BUT I took my measurements today and I have lost 4 inches overall in the last 2 weeks. I attribute this to the hot yoga classes that I have been doing. It's a lot less frustrating seeing minimal weight loss on the scale when I know that I am losing fat but gaining muscle.

Maybe a new pair of walking/running shoes, new workout clothes, entry fee to a charitable 5k walk/run. These are a couple of suggestions that just further promote your new healthier lifestyle....and what an great alternative to gift cards to resturants....Congrats!

Each additional BMI point is only 5 pounds, gain 10 pounds and that's it you'll get to the BMI you need.

there are two types of people in this world.....
fat people who will whine/moan and make up every excuse NOT to get well (i was one of those for about 3 yrs)..and the other is the fat people who get up off their ass and do something about it.....

My friend is renewing her vows and asked me to send her a pic from my wedding. So I did. No big deal really until I actually looked at the pic and realized that even though I am 7 pounds from weighing the same as I did in 2000 on my wedding day, I am thinner and leaner than I was. It has always been my goal to lol at least as good as I did that wonderful day. I never thought after having two kids I would be looking better. Man do I love my band.

Where are these sites??? I'd like to go there and visit...
I have found that many people will attack you if you are successful...and they are not....after all, it cannot possibly be this easy, when they have been struggling....you cannot possibly be so happy, when they are so miserable...eating everything in site!! Falling off the wagon, needing to "get back on track" all the time....
    Jealousy?
This website - group can be very negative in it's own way...I'm glad I did not discover it until AFTER my surgery....it can also be very confusing trying to sift between what is FACT, RUMOR and OPINIONS...as opposed to actual living experience from other bandsters....
Sometimes I don't care what printed articles are posted, or You-Tube videos....I KNOW my band and what it does to me, what I can and cannot do, what has worked and what has not worked, ALL from my own experience, success and failures....you can tell me till you're blue in the face it is absolutely impossible to defy gravity, but if I'm doing it everyday, I don't care what others may say or believe.....
People will post saying you can't do that with the band...etc, etc, and yet I am doing it everyday...go figure!
But I won't argue with them, just posts MY STORY...that's all anyone can, and should do...
My belief is the band can be a positive, and a negative thing....it all depends upon the person who has had the surgery....the band is adjustable and everyone has a different comfort level......or maybe better yet, fear factor...it is not for the faint of heart, but for those seriously looking to make a life long change and commitment....
Other surgeries there is no adjustment option...it is what it it what it is.....
I read posts here everyday from people who have a healthy attitude, who "GET IT"........then I also read posts from people who, IMO, simply "DON'T GET IT".....they don't have a clue........I hope they find their way..
I'm not talking about Newbies, those banded less than 6 months...that is the learning phase we have all been, or are going through....
Granted, there can and will arise medical complications here and there we have no control over, but other than that..
    WE ARE IN CONTROL......

I was banded in September. On the morning of my surgery I considered running out of the hospital. I didn't. Two days after my surgery I cried and thought "what have I done?" Today, with a few short-lived pity parties thrown in for good measure, I can tell you this was the single best decision I have ever made for myself. I've lost nearly 90lbs, i have my hunger under control, my energy is way up, I hurt less, laugh more, and most importantly I am no longer a slave to food. Follow your doctor's plan, ask him questions, and come here for the best support. Good luck...you got this!
