HELP!!! - I NEED POST OP ADVICE!!!
I was banded on 12-20-10 and I brought with me to the hospital : loose fitting pajamas, toiletries, slippers, robe, computer (for down time), gas x stripes. To alleviate pain - make sure to take your pain meds as often as they are recommended by your doctor. Gas pain - Use the Gas X stripes and walk, walk, walk. .the more you walk the better off you'll be. Nausea - Take your nausea meds that your doctor will give you, remember you must make every effort not to vomit to avoid possible band slippage. Hope this helps you!! Good Luck!!

Just had surgery today!
I also had a hernia repair at the time of my surgery. I had no idea before that I actually had a hernia. I always suffered with reflux and just thought it was a normal part of life. Since the hernia has been repaired I no longer have any trouble with reflux/heartburn. Hang in there the gas pains will go away. Try Gas X stripes, they worked well for me.

Mushy food madness
I started my phase 3 diet today... so not very experienced in this part of the diet... but I am able to have 1.5-2 oz of protein and 1 oz of fruits or veggies at a time... so this morning I had 1 scrambled egg, 1/2 oz of turkey ham, 1/2 oz low fat cheese and 1 oz of tomatoes. It was very feeling and I stayed full for several hours. Then for lunch I had a piece of grilled talapia and 1 oz of cauliflower. Tonight for dinner I had 2 oz of beef meat and am full. I'm hoping the weight will continue to come off with this new phase of diet.. if I not I may go back to liquid/mushy diet for a while and then try phase 3 again later...

almost messed up
My surgeon does not allow any carbonated beverages for life... He said drinking it could cause the band to slip. So I haven't anything with carbonation for over a month now. My surgery was on 12-20-10. I would love to drink a coke again, but I know it's best not too so I'm going to steer clear of it. My family still drinks it and surprisingly it doesn't bother me to see them with it. I guess I've told myself enough times that I just can't have it anymore and have come to accept that.

severe shoulder pain
It's gas. Try some Gas X stripes. I had the same pain and they worked wonders. Hope you get some relief soon!

Fluid Pocket???
I went see my surgeon's bariatric team today and seen one of his nurses. I'm 2 weeks post op today and yesterday morning felt some sort of "lump" right under my left breast, pretty much on top on my breast bone. The nurse felt it and said that is something called a fluid pocket and it shouldn't cause any trouble and go away on it's on... she said it's caused by all the fluid giving during and after the surgery. Anyone else had anything like this?? If so, how long does it take to go away?

Accident Prone?
Oh boy am I ever accident prone!!! I've fallen off the front steps to my house so many times that I've actually "learned" how to fall so I don't hurt myself too badly! It's crazy!! I'm hoping once I drop a good bit of my weight that my balance will become better and I stop falling down the steps... It hurts!! LOL

Just need to vent..
Sorry you are having such a rough time. I really hope you are able to get some relief soon. I'll pray everything goes well for you with this surgery and you don't have to wait too long before your able to do the lap band surgery.

Swollen?itchy?hurt? Annoyed
I was banded on the 20th as well and am still pretty sore in my port area. I also have this weird stabbing pain on the right side of my belly button... Dr. did an ultrasound and blood work on Thursday and haven't heard back from him. I'm assuming that means the ultra sound and blood work came back clear... anyone else experienced pain like this? If so, what did it turn out to be?

Banded 12/30, and am hungry already
I was banded on 12-20 and am now starting to feel hungry. The first few days I was not hungry at all, I had a hard time getting in everything I needed too. After about 4 days I started feeling hunger pains, but they were quickly eased with sf Jello or sf popsicle. I've started to really feel hungry (and stay hungry) today.. I know what the problem is though, I'm not getting in all of my Protein and need to work on that. Even though I "stay" feeling hungry if I try to eat something... like applesauce or pureed fruits I am only able to eat small amounts and feel satisfied. The satisfaction however, is not lasting as long. I have an appointment on Monday with my nutritionist and I think I will be able to movie to pureed protein (tuna fish, chicken in a can) and am so looking forward to this!! I hope you get some relief soon from the hunger. Hang in there, it will get better!! I'm 12 days post op and have lost 12.4 lbs. The weight loss is well worth the hunger!!

One week post op appt
I am 1 wk post op today and am down 8.9 lbs according to my scale. I see my surgeon on Jan. 3 for a post of visit. I'm on stage 2 of the diet and am able to have some pureed fruits, sf jello, ice pops, crystal light, yogurt, broths and protein shakes.. I am still swollen some and I still have some pain at the port site.. the incisions are all doing well no problems there and I think the gas pains have finally eased up. I'm also having trouble going to the restroom, I was told to take Dulcolax.. I've taken it a couple of times but it hasn't really helped much. I've noticed when I put on a pair of jeans they fit fine, but after wearing them for about an hour I have to unbutton them because they become tight and uncomfortable... i have no idea what's going on except that I could possible still be swollen some??

Finally Post Op
I'm so excited to finally be "Post Op"!! I had my surgery on Dec 20th and am doing well... besides having gas pains.... I had to be at the hospital for 5 am and my surgery was at 7:30. Everything went well, the surgeon said he had to repair a hiatal hernia I had no idea I had... I had an upper GI done a few hours after surgery just to make sure the band was in place... that was HORRIBLE!! I came so close to vomiting..I honestly have no idea how I didn't.. I guess God was with me!!! I was released from the hospital they day after and have been home for 3 days now.. Each day gets better as far as moving around and getting back into the routine on doing housework. The post op diet is a struggle... I find myself having a hard time getting in everything I need to.... but as each day goes by it is getting easier. I just hope it doesn't get "too easy" and I find myself hungry before my first fill. I go for my post op visit with the surgeon on Jan. 3rd. I'm hoping to have lost some weight by then, but am unsure because I've seemed to have gained since the surgery... anyone else had this problem??? Could it just be from all the gas and fluids from the hospital??? I hoping to see a loss in a couple of days....
