Did they forget to put in the BAND
I'm starting to feel less restriction. I'm a week out now I'm drinking like I usually do but I'm still getting full really fast, well the jell-o cups I eat fill me up for about an hour. I'm not taking any pills, too afraid to get anything stuck, but I'm definitely hungry and able to eat my pureed foods with ease.

in hospital
I've been peeing a lot less since surgery too, I had a hard time going at all for the first few days, but I could. I've had several abdominal surgery's (5 to be exact now) and don't ever recall this happening. I didn't even think to ask my dr about it, I'm just glad I'm not going every 2 hours like I was before. But I was drinking nothing but soda all day now it is just water a little juice and protein shakes.

Carbonated drinks
My dr says no carbonation or alcohol for 6 months, and then only in moderation, very very moderated.

super bloated from fluids in the hospital
Oddly enough keep drinking your water and it will come off in a day or two.

Does anyone gain weight in the first few weeks after surgery?
I was just coming here to ask the same thing, I gained 3lbs overnight. I'm 6 days post op and was a little surprised, when I got on the scale this morning. I'd lost like 5 lbs the first 5 days but I'm up 3 now, its really frustrating when you are starving and the scale goes UP. I don't know what is going on but I too would like to hear if anyone has any ideas.

Not pooping??
I have this problem as well but it is normal for me to go a week with out going. I actually had to take 2 does of laxative over 2 days to get any action pre op I started 2 days early because I knew this would be an issue, it always is.

Advice needed, please.
Yeah your dr is a dick. Unless you had bypass 30 pounds in 6 weeks a LOT. 17 pounds in 6 weeks is pretty good, I would either tell your dr to stuff it and lose the nasty bedside manner. I've just been banded this week and I promise you if my dr talks to me like that I will walk out the door and he can go f himself, I'm not paying him thousands of dollars to be treated like crap. Everyone loose weight at their own pace, you can't be bullied in to it. If that were the case then there would be no fat people anywhere.

Eating what I want
I say if it works for you do it. If you are happy and satisfied eating small amounts of what you want you are going to be much more successful in the long run than denying your self all the things you love to eat small amounts of things you hate. LOW is correct average people eat what they want they just have the ability to stop at one or two where as someone like me would eat the whole bag then stop. But once we reach our goal weight doesn't mean we can go back to eating what ever, this will be a life time of change not just a few months till we reach X weight. I think I'll be more like you eating want (mostly I lived on carbs so will have to really cut back on those) I want just much smaller portions of it. I will also be working out and the combo of the two will get me to where I need to be.

Christmas loss
Seeing as I can't eat anything other than mush (hopedfully starting next week) until after the New Year I'm going to be losing. There won't be any little cheats for me, I will actaully go the entire month of December on a liqud diet. I will be ok with it once its's over, but right now it freaking sucks, my family is at a dinner party eating prime rib and I'm at home drinking a protein shake, so I don't make anyone uncomfortable.

Finally!! 100 pounds gone.
Congrats to you, that is an amazing milestone. I can't wait to be where you are. I love reading the success of others, makes this crappy time seem worth it knowing it can be done.

AHHHH what a relief...
That is good to hear this is what makes me so nervous about getting fills, the dr not hearing me if I tell him my band is too tight. What is PBing? I'm trying to learn the lingo, was just banded on Tuesday.

pain and uncomfortable
I was banded the 14th and feel, almost, human today. Still really sore, but not pain like I had yesterday, well I did just take some narcs about 30 minutes ago becuase my gut is killing me, I think I did too much today. Yesterday I thought I made a mistake and today makes me think that I may be OK. I was actually counting down the days until I can eat real food. I want and egg roll in the worlds worst way.

Taco Shells
Yeah, I love taco's. I'm hopeing that I'll still be able to eat my favs Tasty Taco's (any one from Des Moines will know what I'm talking about) once and awhile. They are to die for by they are a little doughy.

nausea post op
I'm in the same boat, was banded the 14th was ok yesterday but today, I'm nausious, I can feel my esphogus spazem when I try and take a breath. I can barely drink anything with out wanting to barf. I just tried to eat a cup (prepackaged cups) of jell-o, got about 1/2 of it down (in about 10 minutes) and I feel so full that I want to puke again. Not sure if that is normal or if I should call my dr.

does anyone else get these thoughts?
I've actually had 2 people tell me I should give lab band a try. They are co-workers and both had great success with it. I got a lot of preinformation on it and they were the ones to give me the final push to do it. But they were not strangers. At first I was so offended I wan't to cry, but once I got over that I reailzed that I'm fat as hell and they are just trying to help. I was banded 2 days ago, it sin't worth it yet still pretty miserable but I have afeeling in a few weeks/months it will be

Overnight in Hospital?
Everyone in my clinic has to spend the night. For all the complaining I did I was glad I stayed, I got IV pain meds and IV fluids. My hospical only has private rooms, so I've never had to share a room with someone, thank goodness.

pain and uncomfortable
I was banded yesterday as well and I'm in pain my but stomach isn't bloated, like it was yesterday. Was on a morphine pump overnight at the hospital, now I'm happy I spent the nigh, but my 3:30 this afternoon I was given my first does of liquid pain killers. It was nasty and I drank too much Water and that made me even more miserable. I also itch like crazy, from the morphine.

Overnight in Hospital?
I have no health problems, I have HBP, but it is very mild and very well controlled with my meds, and I've only been on meds for 3 months. I just prefer to sleep at home in my own bed. I've spent the night at this hospital before and lets just say I got less than stellar care, being one of 3 patients on the floor you would think that I would have better care but it just made the staff lazy. The only reason I'm doing it there is becuase it is this is where the dr goes, and it is the only dr my insurance covers. Other wise I'd have gone to the other clinic in town.

Anyone being banded tomorrow?
Todays the day for me too, I go in at 1:00.

Overnight in Hospital?
Does/did anyone else have to stay the night at the hospital? My clinic requires it, not only that but I have to spend the ENTIRE next day there as well. Was told I wouldn't be discharged until 3:00 or 4:00pm Wednesday (surgery is Tuesday). The late discharge is so we can take yet ANOTHER "class" on what you can and cannot do post op. I'm really annoyed that I have to stay the night, I've had more invasive procedures where they were pushing me out the door as they were trying to wake me up. I don't get it.

The BIG secret!!
I didn't tell anyone, other than my husband, I was doing this until I had my approval. That was only 4 weeks ago. But my family, mom, dad, sister, maybe my brother he's been on his honeymoon so he may not know. LOL! My immedeiate co workers know, and my 2 best friends but I haven't told other friends and don't know that I will. I kind of feel the same way, like I'm cheating, and that people willl think less of me. But I'm here to tell you, know that surgery is 2 days away, this isn't the easy way out, we are all working just as hard as everyone else, some of us just need a little more support. I won't lie if someone asks me but I'm not volunteering that info either.

What was your very first DR appointment like?
My first (and only) meeting with my dr was good, it was about 20 minutes and he went over the procedure asked some questions about my health, I asked him about a bening tumor I have in my abdomen, he was concerned for a moment before he realized that my dr had consulted with him about it because he didn't know what to do with it, so he already knew what it was and where so I didn't have to have further testing, thankfully. My dr also went over the sleeve and the bypass, just to make sure I had all the info on all the options. He answered all my husbands questions and made him much more relaxed about this. I was already good with doing this. Don't be nervous, it should be painless, if its not, you might want to consider finding a different dr.
