I have BCBS NC (State health plan) I didnt have to do a supervised diet. They just needed the 2 year weight history. They approved me in 2 days. Very easy to deal with. Good Luck!

  6. I'm a good bander Monday-Thursday, but for some reason the weekends are hard for me. I find myself starting over again on Monday trying to get the weekend gain off. I had a baby shower to go to this weekend with lots of food and wine. I'm determined not to overdo it. Am I the only one that goes through this? any tips?

Here I am 6 months post op (had surgery 12/9/2010) I weighed in at 242 this morning (AGAIN) I had a fill last week that brought me to 5.75cc's. I am feeling more restriction than I did before, but I dont think I'm quite in the green zone. I notice WAY more restriction after working out. For some reason I'm really tight after whether I go to the gym or just walk around the lake. My body is definitely changing for the better. Although the scale is stagnant, I'm surely losing inches. When I went for my fill last month the nurse took my measurements, I lost 4 inches from my waist since the 3 month post op visit. My hips measured the same but I'm not too worried about that since I kinda wanted to keep some of them. I want to keep some of my curvaciousness. My problem and I readily admit it....weekends! I can do a stellar job working out, drinking water, counting calories and eating healthy during the week, but the weekends, I seem to throw it all out the window thus starting over again on Monday. What is up with that? I dont go overboard, but my efforts are not as dilligent on the weekend. But, this weekend, I'm going to break that cycle. I have a baby shower to go to and there is going to be bbq and all the fixins, cake and a bunch of other stuff..including wine. I'm determined to be a good lapbander and stay on target. I'm detemined not to see the scale up on Monday morning. Are the weekend hard for you too? Any tips?
  8. You have gotten some good advice from the previous posters. Tracking your food, measuring and weighing it, try changing up your workout routine (in particular incorporate some strength training), make sure you getting enough water as well. Going to the nutritionist really helped me see what I was doing wrong with my eating. Perhaps you could try that. Sometimes shaking things up a bit is all thats needed to get the scale moving again. Good luck to you!
  9. I think that what your supervisor said was highly inappropriate! Good luck on your journey! Keep up posted!
  10. Good for you Dave!! Congratulations!!
  11. Keep up the good work!
  12. Thanks for that GREAT post!!
  13. Today is my 6month anniversary too!! You are doing WAY better than I am though! Congrats!
  14. Today is my 6 month anniversary of being banded and I drink wine...never had a problem. I think most doctors advise against it because of the calories. Congratulations!
  15. Congrats to everyone! Ya'll are doing so well! As for me, I have been feeling like something is stuck in my throat all day. I had a fill a couple weeks ago which brought me to 5.25cc. I felt fine afterwards but maybe its now getting tighter? I havent had anything to eat, just coffee. Is that what restriction feels like. I'm almost 6 months out and haven't had that feeling before. Congrats again!
  16. Thanks for that inspiring post! Congrats on the 56lb loss! Amazing!

Hang in there and take it one day at a time. You can do it!
  18. Good luck to you! Congrats on making it to the gym!
  19. I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. Keep your head up, things will get better.
  20. Great story! Congrats to you!
  21. I agree that greek yogurt is great. I have recently discovered it and I love it. Chobani is the best kind!
  22. Congrats!! Good Luck to you in the future!
  23. You may not need another one in 2 weeks. A 5.5 fill seems mighty large! I had surgery in December and I'm only at 5.25 right now.
  24. Good morning everyone! Hope you are doing well. Its been a while since I posted here so let me catch you up on what's been going on. I went for my 5th fill last week, I now have 5.25cc's in a 10cc band. I think I'm getting very close to where I need to be. I have lost 3lbs since last week. I usually lose after a fill anyway because I have to do liquids on the fill day, soft food the next and regular food the next. I have not had a stuck episode or any throwing up (Thank God!) I try to be very careful about chewing and small portions. When i first got my fill (yall may think this is crazy) I timed how long it took for water to go through my band....it took 4 seconds when it used to go right through before.Am I the only one that does this? I stay full longer on less food now. But it's not the 4-5 hours that will signify the green zone. I have been trying different things like greek yogurt and more protein rich foods. Greek yogurt is great and has 14-16 grams of protein depending on the flavor and if I eat it for breakfast, it keeps me until lunch. I think I, like some others, thought that the weight would just fall off after surgery. I have learned that is not the case. I also thought the band would prevent me from eating. That is not the case. I was always told it was a tool and I am convinced of that now. Now when I eat, I take my time and stop at a certain point. If I'm still hungry after a few minutes, I will eat a little more. But most times I find that I'm full. Its hard to tell that when I'm constantly shoving food down my throat. 6/9 will be my 6 month anniversary, and I have lost 47lbs. (weighed 244 this morning) Even though I have been losing slow, I feel better, I look better, I enjoy working out, and I'm in a size 16 comfortably!! Hang in there everyone!!
