  1. I’m currently going through the process for a sleeve revision (tests, insurance clearance,etc.). Originally I was thinking duodenal switch (DS) or SIPS/DS loop but now I’m also looking into the possibility of a revision to bypass. I lost the majority of my weight with the band in 2010, revised to sleeve due to band slip in 2014 but never felt any restriction with the sleeve, and now have gained back almost half of my original loss following a hysterectomy about 2 years ago. I think I will likely be able to lose at least some if not all of my excess weight with any of these revision options but am most concerned about keeping the weight off long term. Any recommendations based on your own revision experiences would be greatly appreciated. Every time I think I’ve made a decision on the right path forward I start to reconsider again and need to make a decision soon. Thank you!
  2. Dr Snyder also did my band in 2010, revision to sleeve in 2014 and I literally just left his office to discuss various options available now (revision to bypass, mini bypass, DS, SIPS (DS loop)). Dr Snyder does revisions from sleeve to bypass or mini bypass himself and one of his partners, Dr. Metz, does revisions to DS or SIPS. Right now I’m considering all of my options.
  3. I’m a band to sleeve revision now looking at DS loop. I’m just getting started with the tests, insurance, etc. How are you doing so far?
  4. I’m not the OP but looking at something similar and I WAS successful with the band (lost 115 lbs and was within 15 lbs of my goal) until I had a major slip and revised to the sleeve. I never had restriction with the revision to the sleeve but managed not to gain weight for 2 years until 3 years ago when I had a hysterectomy. Now I’ve gained back 50 of my original loss and am exploring a new surgical alternative after trying many other things for the last 3 years to get back on track. Looking at GB or DS now.
  5. I'm looking at a revision from sleeve to DS loop too. How are things going now? Also, you mentioned you were self pay - do you mind sharing the cost? I'm looking into insurance but might end up being self pay too. Thanks and I hope you are doing great!
  6. I had the band in 2010, revision to sleeve in 2014 due to major band slip (couldn’t even drink water with empty band), and now having acid reflux and weight gain following a hysterectomy in 2016 and looking for options to revise again. Anyone else have a similar situation and any success with insurance approval?
  7. I’m looking Into the same thing now. Band in 2010, sleeve in 2014, and now another revision to ??? Due to acid reflux and weight gain post hysterectomy. Any recommendations regarding the next surgery choice and insurance approval based on your experience?
  8. I’m looking into the same thing as the OP. Band in 2010, revision to Sleeve in 2014 due to band slip resulting in the inability to even drink water, and now looking for another option due to acid reflux and regain after a hysterectomy in 2016. I never felt restriction with the sleeve and didn’t lose much after the sleeve and now am half way back to where I started on my WL journey. I’m going to call my WL surgeon to make an appointment to see what my options are at this point and to see what is needed for insurance to pay. If anyone else with a similar experience has any words of wisdom to share that would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I swear I tried every protein shake available and could barely choke down any of them so I make my own. I use the Any Whey flavorless protein powder from GNC and my favorite recipe is: 1/2 banana, 1/2 c milk, 1/2 c ice, 1/2 T starbucks cocoa powder, 1 t fiber powder & 1/2 scoop any whey protein powder and blend well in blender.
  10. Call your doctor. It could be a blood clot.
  11. They gave me 3 different meds for nausea and it stii didn't help. It only got better for me after I was able to stop taking all the meds.
  12. Source of Life liquid multi. It looks nasty but tastes fruity and lots of B vitamins for energy - love it!
  13. Thank you for all the great responses. My biggest fear is that I would be so tight I couldn't even drink water. Chloe - I live near Denver as well, live @ 8,000 ft, work @ 5,000 ft and am traveling to the middle of nowhere West Virginia. Thankfully it is only for 2 days so hopefully I will at least be okay with liquids.
  14. Has anyone had troubles with their lapband while flying? I have a business trip coming up soon and am worried. I think I am at perfect restiction right now so hate to have any removed but will be in a remote area for 2 days and am afraid I might have troubles. I can currently eat about a 1/2 c of solid food or 1 c of soft food. I will only be gone 2 1/2 days and am trying to decide if I need to have a little fill removed just in case or just take my chances. Anyone have any suggestions based on personal experience?
  15. My favorite is the series of Zumba dvds.
  16. I'm getting bored with my usual meals and looking for some new food ideas. What did you eat today?
  17. I weigh weekly because the daily fluctuations would drive me crazy & I only see my doctor every 6 weeks which seems like too long to wait. Down 41 lbs in 3.5 months.
  18. I am 3.5 months out & eat .5-1.5 cups 5 times a day. I have lost 40 pounds so far. I make sure to get in at least 65g of protein & 64 oz of water daily but don't really track calories or carbs. I usually eat .5 cup of food per meal right after a fill (just had my 3rd, now 5.5 in a 10cc band) and once I am struggling to keep the quantity per meal to a cup or less I know I need another fill. Working for me so far.
  19. I have found additional vitamin B, beyond what is included in the average multivitamin, helps me with my energy level.
  20. Laurajean1, you are not alone. I felt very little after my 1st fill, after my 2nd I thought I was at perfect restriction but then about 3 weeks later it faded away & I have been struggling just trying not to gain for the past 5 weeks. Going in this week for fill #3 hoping this will get me where I need to be. Best of luck & hang in there.
  21. Try myfitnesspal.com (there is also a smart phone app if you have one). You can put in your current stats & goals and it will tell you what to do ( food & exercise) to achieve them by tracking daily.
  22. I am so not a morning person but have found that is the only time that works for me. I also noticed I have more energy throughout the day if I exercise first thing in the morning.
  23. My doctor said as you lose weight your center of gravity changes causing temporary balance issues unti you adjust - so it might be more physical than you think.
