Well fellow sleevers I did it! Sleeved on the 8th. Observed til the 9th and discharged home on the which was a cautionary measure. Dr Clark is awesome. I left preop about 9:30 am and awakened in recovery 11am. Received dilaudid in recovery Of course I had gas pain, but no where near when I had the band put in. I hadn't been n my room 30 minutes before radiology took me down for barium swallow. Results were good. Back to the room where I began the dry heaves and up chucking gas bubbles. I had terrible nausea even though I was given Zofran, Pepcid and nystatin preop. Needless to say until he nausea wore off , it was difficult. I continued to take iv pepcid and zofran post op. I was discharged the next morning still nauseated but home. I slept a lot on the 9th to allow my body to heal. Today I finally felt I could drink Water and I have had almost two cups so far today. Oh yeah and passing gas thru the other end, which is good thing. I'm on my way now, looking forward to a healthier me.

Awww thanks everyone. I asked to be knocked out last night and woke up at 6am. By noon I was discharged and now I am home. Doing better no nausea for two days. Able to sip liquids ok. Ate half Protein Shake but ewww.....not ready for that taste sensation yet. I'm just so tired. Came home to a dirty house. Wow what happened it was clean before I went in? So my hubby and daughter are cleaning up as we speak. Hoping a good nights sleep will give me more energy tomorrow.

well its official....band removed, found no hernia and little scar tissue....and now I am sleeved. supposed to start walking tomorrow...but I already am, about 7 minutes so far...goal is supposed to be 10 tomorrow....should be OK. really hurt in the beginning, the morphine wasn't touching the pain, so they changed to dilotin...much better, not even using it right now. might even let me leave after two days vs the standard three! my advice to anyone and everyone is BRING A HEATING PAD! I cannot stress how much it has helped!!! thanks for all the support...and good luck to all of us!!!!!!

I only had to do clear liquids the day before and obviously nothing after midnight or the day of surgery. So, I'm pretty sure it won't be too bad if you "messed up" one out if 3!

I ate what I wanted up until 2 days before surgery then cut back to clear liquids the day before. Just avoid the foods that enlarge liver. No onions, garlic, cranberries etc. Good luck!

My surgery is the 16th. Its Protein Shakes and 1 lean/ green ,meal a day for 2 weeks pre-op. Post-op its Clear Liquids for 3 weeks then full liquids for 3 weeks. After that is mushy for another 3 weeks. I'm going on memory but I think that's right.

I revised on 5/22 so about 5 weeks out. My band was all good for the first year then all went to hell for the next two years. I'm down 16 pounds since my sleeve and I love it! No issues and it was seamless for me since I already knew what to do and what not to do. I'm greatful that I have the sleeve now and wouldn't change it for anything since I know this time I WILL get to goal!

I am having my revision tomorrow too. Due to having to work today, I had to do the colon prep yesterday and have been on Clear liquids only since then. Did anyone else have to do a colon prep? What's the point of it? Seriously, they leave the pyloric valve and don't touch the intestines. After thinking about that all day and feeling like I am going to starve, I found out that my surgery isn't til 2pm tomorrow! I will be on Clear Liquids without a functioning band or sleeve for over 48 hours. UGGGHHH!!!
On the positive side, I can't wait for the sleeve and the feeling of fullness I never got with the band (except for the tightness when the pouch was full, but the rest of the stomach was growling).

Hynita reacted to BringingSexyBackToTX in PCOS
Hello! I'm new to this forum and my surgery is scheduled for mid-July. I decided to do this after struggling with my weight for 20 years. When I was 23 (20 years ago), I "got" PCOS ("Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome") and gained 50-60 pounds in about 6 months (which is a typical symptom of when women initially "get" PCOS) and then more after that over the years (I think the extra weight was from depression and laziness stemming from the weight). Until PCOS, I had a great shape. The doctors didn't know much about PCOS then and it took about 6 years and 7 doctors to finally diagnose me correctly. Unfortunately, there is really nothing they can do for PCOS but "kind of" treat it (off-label) like Diabetes. I have tried every diet, potion, pill, etc over the 20 years and work out (aggressively) and my weight has fluctuated but my lowest is still was a good 40-50 pounds from where I "should" be. I've decided to do the LapBand after talking with a friend and seeing her amazing results. She is 3 years out and has lost (and kept off) about 80 pounds and looks AMAZING! Like a size 4/6?
I'm writing all of this to ask if anyone else on here has PCOS and if they have had success with weight loss post-WLS regardless of their PCOS. I have read that when/if you can lose the weight, the PCOS will be resolved.... but that is the Catch 22, isn't it? So if any of you ladies on here have any success stories regarding PCOS and WLS - I'd love to hear them. There is a small part of me that is doubtful that this will work given the last 20 years... but then again, I've never done anything this drastic either. The doctors seem to think I will lose the 40-50 I want to lose and quickly. I hope (and pray) so! Its funny - when I go to see the doctor, they keep saying that I'm "small" and that I have a "low BMI". Hum... weird to hear since I don't identify with that for the last 20 years.
Thanks in advance for any success you can share! This forum has been very informative and encouraging.
