Discouraged
You are doing great... I had a plateau that lasted 3 weeks. Just keep doi g what you are supposed to be doing...track calories, measure portions, drink lots of water and see your dr regularly and the weight will come off.

life duration of the band ? 3 years ?
My dr told me the lapband can and should last a life time as long as I treat it with the respect it demands. So I do.

why did you choose the band? How much weight did you lose?
I chose the band because of all the WLS out there the band didn't rearrange my anatomy or bodily functions and it can be removed should there be problems. It is a long term solution to help you lose but more importantly for me it helps me keep off the weight. No diet has ever done that. It's a permanant reminder of a temporary feeling!!! I lost 220 lbs in 23 months...

Starting to het cold feet'
You are scared and for good reason. Its a drastic decision. For me it was the last resort.... my life hinged on making this work. You are giving up eating as you have known it. I equate it to moving to another country.... you have to learn a new language, a new culture, new foods, basically a new way to live. However the good things is that with the band... the only thing that changes is the way you eat. Your job, friends, family and familar surroundings dont change. Personally I wasnt nervous... I was too excited to be! But everyone is different and take all the time you need to embrace it. Its a journey not a weekend getaway.

Getting close to my surgery date
You are starting at about the same weight I was...and in less than 2 years I am wearing a size 6!!! The time will fly and you will be enjoying your healthy new body in no time!

How do you get enough protein?
My dr told me when I started on solids that I was to eat 3 oz of protien at each meal. He despises the shakes because he feels they do not fill you up like food does and the band isn't meant to be a liquid diet once you are on solids. Of course this is just his opinion but one I adhered to with great success.

Please Be Respectful!
It's a shame people need to be reminded of basic manners but thank you for all you do to make LBT an informative, fun place to visit.

need some positve or motivating encouragement
I do not vomit... I eat with people on a daily basis and I have lost 220 lbs in less than 2 years. My band life is exactly like my pre band life except I make good food choices, track calories, measure portions and go to the dr on a regular basis for him to measure my progress and get the fills I need to keep me honest. Its a commitment and lifestyle change as the band only does 70% of the work. You may be reading posts from people who were not willing to do their 30%!!

Tummy tuck and breast left on Tuesday 12/18
Hi As you can tell by my pics... My port does not stick out to be noticable. It just to the right of my belly button if youlook at the pic. Before my tummy tuck it actually did...althought my husband said I was the only one who saw it.. LOL Since the tt the skin is stretched pretty thin and I can feel it like before but it doesn't look like an egg in all the saggy skin. Hope that offers some explanation.

Ok maybe im thick!
A cup of steak is the same as a cup of ground beef, lettuce, ice cream or popcorn.... But as others have said its best to use a scale for measuring meat. I usually eat 3 oz of protien at every meal.

Life is so uncertain....
I hope to get more details tomorrow..... Just for closure and so I have something to tell his co workers.... They are going to take it hard. Just a waste of a young ...he was 32... Life over a few bucks.... I know there was nothing I could of done... He was just in the wrong place evidentially at the wrong time... But it's still so tragic. I hate to say but I am thankful he was single leaving behind few... as his parents had passed and he had no wife or children.

Leave denied by work
If you used FMLA for your surgery then a follow up appointment MAY be covered if they don't want to get picky. But the more obvious question... Is it possible for you to get a dr who isn't 3 hrs away? Then you could go on your lunch hour or before or after work....
