  2. You are working out already? Wow...good for you... My dr wouldn't let me do exercise for a month. That said... Are you on solid foods yet? If so are you tracking your calories? Even tho this is a time for healing we still need to be aware of what we eat and drink. Have you gained anything?
  3. Friday morning one of my employees was a no call no show.... Missing work is Not completely atypical for this particular guy as he does seem to use his PTO as fast as he earns it...but not to call with a lame excuse is odd. As the morning wore on I could t help but thinking I should call the hospitals or jails.... But I didn't. He is an adult and can pick up a phone. Yesterday I got a call on my cell from an employee pretty close to him... She was worried as she hadn't seen any Facebook posts since Thursday about dinner time. She called a few people....nothing.... She looked up who's in jail online....nothing. So she started calling hospitals. He had been to the ER on Thursday night but was released. Somehow she got hold of his landlord and asked for a wellness check... He was dead in his apartment. The details are sketchy...but we found out he had been mugged at a gas station on Thursday night going out to get cigarettes. Beat up pretty good and left for dead. They took his money, credit cards and iPhone.... Police came and off to the hospital he went. He was released on Friday night.... But had no phone and evidentially was on pain medication and went to sleep so didn't call anyone.... No family or friends or work... Sometime between Friday night and 9 pm on Saturday he died.... It's just so sad.... And makes you count your blessings and hug your loved ones a little tighter.... Because life is so uncertain....
  4. Its a horrible tragedy.... I am so sorry!! Remember....When a door closes.... A window opens. hard to think about right now but in time you will rebuild and it will somehow be for the better.
  5. I would agree with the others. You need to do whatever you can to get in to see the dr. There is no way for you to diagnose yourself and not doing it could be a crucial mistake. Best wishes.
  6. I took 5 days off from my desk job.... but I wasnt allowed to lift more than 10 lbs for a month....
  7. Everyone has to do what is best for themselves. I too was self pay because my insurance didnt think it was medically necessary.... I was a 55 BMI. The band is alot about changing your habits...something I didnt do after any of my diets... If you can do that you are home free. Best of luck.
  8. fluctuations dont bother me so I get on the scale in the morning and again at night. I tried to do it weekly but I am way to impatient .... This works for me and holds me accountable.
  9. I have been banded for 25 months and maintaining just a few months so am in now way a success at maintaining but based on how the last. 2 months have gone I can see how easy it will be to live with the band.... Nice to see a positive article on long term effects...thanks for posting
  10. Tuna alone is a bit too dry for me too but I mix it with fat free creamy ceaser salad dressing..... It's moist and yummy
  11. I was allowed to shower the next day. Check with your dr to see if he suggests something else
  12. Sounds like a common side effect fom the anesthesia. Hopefully it will go away soon
  13. Wonderful!! You look great!!
  14. Thanks Ladies...we will see what it involves....I think it would be fun....
  15. I use caloriecounter by fat secret on my Droid phone. You can log in on line too and record it as it updates your phone and vice versa. their website on line is fatsecret.com
  16. Sitting at my desk wishing it was Friday... when I received a call from the hospital where I had my lap band surgery in December 2010 and most recently a sonogram after my tummy tuck to see what was causing the bleeding from my belly button. My first thought was they found some dreaded infection or worse yet…tumors… I braced myself for the bad news wondering why my plastic surgeon wasn’t calling… The woman identified herself as the Director of Patient Relations and she was calling to congratulate me on my successful Lap Band journey and ask me if I would be interested in a starring role in their new advertising campaign. It’s just in the works now and it may be print or television…no details are firm yet. After I picked my mouth off the ground and tried to wrap my head around the fact this wasn’t bad news… I thanked her for the call and asked how much it paid. Well maybe not quite that blunt but in a roundabout sort of way…. LOL. She doesn’t think it pays but it may open the door for other things… Like what…. I have no idea. So anyway…. I thanked her for the call, told her I would consider it and she assured me I would be hearing from their creative department. I hung up the phone and the first thought I had was seeing my body on a billboard on the highway…. I spent all this time to get thin and now they want to blow me up…. Hysterical.
  17. Personally I do not get the point of joining a diet program when I have the band, my NUT's and my drs orders to follow, a calories tracker on my phone and my own will power to be successful... I dont need to complicate it.... But thats just me...
  18. Just curious...is Dad paying for your band? Because if he isn't.... I sure would not worry about it. Remember he isn't as educated about it as you are.
  19. ok...i'll ask.....How many calories in a slice of this cake?
  20. My reputable surgeons would want you to wait... it would be a shame to have to have 2 surgeries.
  21. Great post.... no flaming here... I believe the biggest misconception is that people think the band will do 100% of the work... when in fact the band only does about 70%. We HAVE to so the rest.
  22. This isnt their first rodeo so if you have a good practice then will give you all of the financial info upfront. As for the Dr... I would ask him everything under the sun... about pre op diets, post op diets, eating as a bandster, does he have any rules on things like carbonation and straws, what his follow up appointments are like, his stance on fills.... everything from A-Z
  23. If your Dr allows sugar free popsicles you may enjoy because you need to chew them....that and my chewable Vitamins were the highlight of my day. LOL Hang in there!
  24. My PM has been down since yesterday about noon...Maybe Barrister Jorge Antonio broke it.....
