  1. I think he has a great bedside manor. He is shy and people take that for unfriendly. He and I have had some great conversations. He sometimes comes to support group too.

if you're on the post op liquid diet, it's very common. They say liquids in liquids out. After you're on solid food, people tend to go the other direction.
  3. I drink a Protein drink every morning for breakfast. I have never been a breakfast eater and I love my Protein shakes. At least I know I start the day out with 25 grams. I think most Protein drinks are fine as long as they aren't ones with a lot of carbs. You can get in trouble with Protein Bars because a lot of them have more carbs than protein.
  4. I didn't tell a lot of people. I didn't want to hear what anyone had to say regarding my decision. The lap band is a nightmare. Read all the band to sleeve revisions that are on here. I hope you can get your insurance to pay for the sleeve. You won't be sorry!
  5. Most doctors want people to wait about 3 months before introducing fresh veggies, to make sure the staple line is completely healed. You'll find out that the sleeve will help you keep your portions small. You'll eventually be able to eat anything you want, in small portions. You'll have to pick and choose what to eat because if you fill up on bread, you won't be able to eat anything else! Don't worry! We will all help you along the way!
  6. A lot of people like the syntrex nectar drinks http://verticalsleevetalk.com/protein-drinks-powders/1325-places-get-liquid-protein-samples.html You can order samples from this site.
  7. I would order samples of things to try . I'll get the link
  8. I hate to say it but "I told you so!" I remember when you were so afraid the sleeve wasn't going to work for you. Congratulations! It's the best feeling in the world when the size you think you need, is TOO BIG!
  9. BJ I eat junk food all the time. Yes, I allowed treats! I really didn't do anything to break the stall. I tried to stay at 30 grams of carbs per day. There are times like parties or holidays that I eat anything I want. But I go back to my regular way of eating the next day. I started exercising daily 6 years ago at the gym. For 3 solid years I went and exercised my brains out and lost 2 lbs every week and gained it back every weekend. Then I got the band and lost about 70 lbs. I've been a carb watcher since the 70's. I went on the Atkins diet for the first time when I was 13 yrs. old! I guess the difference with the sleeve was since I was not ever hungry and my portions were so small, eventually, I started losing again. I always drop about 5 lbs in a week and then go on a stall for sometimes up to 6 weeks. Then I'll drop again. That's the way my entire weight loss went.
  10. cottage cheese is pretty high in Protein. Have you looked in the recipe section at the ricotta bake? It's really good with a little bit of spaghetti sauce on top. chicken, tuna and egg salad are all also good choices.
  11. yeah, it's pretty amazing how things we take and and think they help, actually cause rebound acid. I am doing much better now. The acid has calmed down quite a bit.
  12. the whole process on how to get off the ppis is on a website c http://thehealthyskeptic.org/get-rid-of-heartburn-and-gerd-forever-in-three-simple-steps The stuff he says to get from the health food store is called HCL with pepsin Read all his articles.
  13. Well I was banded before I got sleeved and lost most of my weight with the band first. I started having band problems and gaining weight back. It probably took me 6 months to get to where I am now. I lost about 22 lbs on the post op diet and then I was stalled for quite awhile before I started losing again.
  14. I am 57 and in a size 6 and a small top. I do exercise a lot but I was doing that way before I ever got sleeved in an effort to lose weight.
  15. I don't think you can do anything wrong, other than take too big of bites or eat too fast. Eating carbs will slow down your weight loss, but drinking water fast will not!
  16. Congrats Mini! The sleeve is the greatest thing ever invented. I am really happy for you and don't worry, those last 20 will come off before you know it!
  17. Try not to be discouraged. You aren't even one month post op. I didn't lose weight fast either, but it eventually came off. Tiffy gave you all the good advice about how many carbs and calories to have per day. Some of us are just slow losers, but I don't know anyone who hasnt' had the sleeve work for.
  18. The stuff people seem to like at Walmart that is a powder to mix with Water is Body Fortress. I like my Protein powder to have 25 grams of protein, less than 150 calories and as low carb as possible. Most of the ones I use are less than 5 grams of carbs. I really like BSN lean dessert. I get it at vitacost.com and there are many flavors. I like the chocolate fudge pudding and the banana pudding. I mix the 2 together.
  19. I was, for a few days. (Alex board owner)and I worked things out through email. I am still having some acid. It comes and goes. I read about some stuff to take from thehealthyskeptic.com that I am going to get from the health food store. It's supposed to restore your stomach while trying to get off the PPIS. It's not an antacid. One is a probiotic and the other is some other thing but the name escapes me at the moment.
  20. I wish that was the case with me. I was really surprised at the results of my bone density test
  21. I am a grazer. I never really feel like eating big meals. I eat a little bit and a couple hours later I eat something else. There are times when I eat a regular sleeve sized meal, and then I am not interested in eating anything for several hours.
  22. Some people are able to drink Water rather easily, and some people have trouble if they don't take small sips at a time. It's really an individual thing.
  23. I don't see why you can't use one of your nutrisystem meals for your dinner. If you go into the food section on the forum, I made a thread on places to order samples of Protein drinks. I would order some samples and find out what you like. Boost is usually very high in calories and carbs. You can use atkins or low carb slim fast too.
  24. I've been diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. Exercise is the only thing that really helps for me. When I don't exercise every day, I start to feel very anxious.
  25. That stuff is really expensive. The once a year injection also can make you feel really sick.
