  1. Yes, I can eat quite a bit more now than I could at 6 months. I am at 2 1/2 years post op now. I can eat more now than I could at one year. I don't think I can eat all that much though. I would say if it's solid meat like steak, I can eat 3 oz or a little less. At 6 months, it was more like counting the bites, not counting the ounces if that makes sense.
  2. I did become lactose intolerant for awhile after surgery. I could eat yogurt but milk gave me horrible gas. It's better now. For anyone on the liquid or post op diet, you will have diarrhea until you move to more solid food. liquid in, liquids out.
  3. I didn't see on that site where you could do that. I saw prices that were higher than the $12 a box I have been paying.
  4. Congratulations! It's great that you have such a wonderful foundation that will carry you on when you get into maintenance. For me, I have to watch every bite I put in my mouth. It's so easy to eat a bite of this and a taste of that. I seem to gain easier now at 2 1/2 years. It's easy to put a few lbs on in one day if I indulge at some social gathering. It's me and the gym too, sweating to take it back off. I hope you stick around the board cause I am going to need your motivating spirit!
  5. Tiffy you look so freakin adorable! I am so happy for you. I really wish I could come there and meet you and Tatum in person.
  6. I still get gas. I get more gas if I have something with sugar in it for some reason. Are you on Protein shakes?
  7. I know. I would love to see the article or find out when it will be out. I am sure it if it is true, somebody will post about it when it comes out or if we find out when it will be out. Now that you mention it, I am going to email their office and get some information. I know they would not lie about it.
  8. I am addicted to those things and sometimes wonder if I should give up the 200 calories. I usually just eat half at a time. I get mine from vitacost.com They are 12.00 a box. I don't have a GNC here. Their shipping is free if you order over $49.00 . that's easy for me to do cause I get everything there. They have Vit D 3 with 10,000 mg and I get my Calcium citrate capsules there too. I also get my gaspari chocolate Peanut Butter Protein drinks there. They have anything you could possibly think of, including Biotin shampoo.
  9. You can have egg flower soup or any other soup that is well blended with no chunks. Full liquids is anything you can get through a straw with no chunks.
  10. As long as the spinach is very well cooked there is not a problem.
  11. I heard that Time magazine is doing an article on the top bariatric surgeons in the world. Dr. Aceves is the only Mexican surgeon or surgeon doing surgery in Mexico mentioned in that article. That speaks volumes for him.
  12. Everybody stalls because our bodies just don't like to give up the weight. After your body gets used to its new weight for awhile, it will give up some more. It's just the way it is.
  13. The no drinking while eating is not going to change though. It's too hard to fit liquids in there with the tiny stomach at the same time as solids. They say it will stretch your stomach but I find I just don't have room. I will usually take one sip after I am all done eating,
  14. If you can afford to self pay and go to Mexico, go for it. There is no sense in spending your life on the diet roller coaster if this is available to you. I wish I had done it when I was younger. I think people who are able to have WLS at a young age are so lucky!
  15. I am prone to UTIs too so I understand what you're going through. You need to find a temperature that seems to work. I can't drink it really cold. I prefer room temp. Bottled Water works better. There are a lot of people who complain they can't drink water . People say it's the PH balance that does not agree with our tiny tummies. You need to experiment with the temp and whether different brands of bottled water work better for you. I also do better and am able to drink more with a straw. I can't drink cranberry juice either. It's too much acid for my bladder and it makes me feel like I have a UTI when I don't have one.
  16. Dr. Aceves told me the difference between ad 32 and a 36 is about a teaspoon. I was worried at first because I always heard he used a 32, so I asked him when I went back to Mexicali for my face lift in May. I asked him what size he uses because I've heard different things on the boards. He told me he always uses a 36 to leave room for oversewing . I looked on my records he had sent home with me originally, and sure enough it says 32. I certainly would not want it any smaller. At 2 1/2 years post op, I still eat way less than a child's portion.
  17. Honestly, in the beginning it's pretty easy to lose weight. You can barely eat a few bites and you're full. Some people get mad about this because they want to eat more. After a couple of months, you're able to eat more and you try to eat more and it's extremely painful . You feel like your stomach is going to explode. It's easy not to graze then, because you're so full, you don't want more food. After about a year, you're eating pretty normally, You eat small meals and a variety of foods, and you're satisfied. Head hunger can be another story. In the evenings for me, my head starts asking me what there is in the house I can snack on. So yes, it does take some will power. It's nothing like not having the sleeve though. I really feel that this surgery is the only hope for most people who lose weight and also want to keep it off. We all now how to lose weight. It's living life after you've lost most of your weight that gets a little tricky. It's important to learn new habits that first year. This board is so valuable all the steps along the way.
  18. I wish they would take that band off the market. It's ridiculous to keep putting it inside people when the majority of us have to have them removed. All for the all mighty dollar.
  19. oh Yeah bars are great. They have 8 carbs and 15 grams of protein. They are like a Kit Kat bar. The peanut butter is so good that I can't live without them.
  20. Yes I do think you need other sources of protein besides shakes. They have all the protein that you need, but they don't stay in your stomach very long. At 8 weeks out, there is a long list of things you can eat with high protein.
  21. Only a couple more weeks now until you see your little sweetheart. I am so happy for you! xoxo
  22. I am almost 2 1/2 years out from surgery and really , I am rarely hungry. Head hunger is another story, but luckily I know the difference. If I really keep my carbs low, I don't crave sweets. If I let those nasty carbs into my life, I am usually very sorry. Carbs make me crave sweets. If I keep my carbs under 30 per day, I don't crave sweets.
  23. Yes it does take a certain amount of willpower. Sweet things used to make me sick when I was first sleeved but unfortunately that went away. The sleeve is still the greatest thing though. If I eat a nice dinner and get full, I am less likely to want to snack later.
  24. You have to learn to stop before you're full. It really is true that it takes our brains 20 min to tell our stomachs we are full. I had to learn to eye ball how much I could eat and not eat one bite more or I would be sorry. At that time I could eat one of those tiny little cans of chicken salad. I had to picture the food fitting in that can. That's what worked for me!
  25. The only difference is the majority of us will not gain our weight back but the majority of GB patients will gain it all back. SAD!
