  1. Misty, I have the band too, but I can eat way more than a fourth of a sandwich. I don't want to be so tight that I have to worry all the time about pbing or damaging my stomach. I am wondering how much a person with the sleeve can eat, and if it is upsetting to them to not be able to eat even a bandster size meal. That's why I asked Mac. I already know how much WasA can eat, because she told me.
  2. WasA, can you answer this person's question? I am not sure why a band would erode this soon, unless the surgeon made a mistake from the beginning. Your thoughts?
  3. Nancy, Time will tell how well your daughter will be able to keep the weight off. Everyone in my support group who has had RNY past 3 years, really struggles to keep it off. They all exercise like crazy and do the best they can making good food choices. When they all gained weight at Christmas time, they all said at last support group that they can't seem to lose it. I know my daughter is 3 years out and has gained back 40 that she can't seem to lose. There are so many people in this town who have had the RNY and the 40 has turned into 80 down the road, and so on.
  4. I hate pumping my own gas. I feel for ya. I have to do it when I visit my dad in AZ. Here in Oregon, it's against the law to pump your own gas. Unemployment here is one of the highest in the nation, so they don't want to put people out of jobs. Donna, did you get your fill? I can't remember when you said it was going to be. I am afraid to have anymore put back in, but being able to eat as much as I want is not a good thing for me.
  5. So where do you think the O is coming from if you're not stimulating the clitoris? I really want to understand this for some reason, even though I would never try it. I am way too scared that it would be painful.
  6. Mac, do you ever feel sad when you want to eat more than the sleeve will let you? I don't have that problem with the band, because with the fill I have, I can eat a normal size portion. It's willpower to take half the food and put it in a to go box, not the band. My friend is getting a sleeve, and I told her WasA said she could only eat 1/4 of a sandwhich. That made her sad. She asked how soon she would be able to eat the other 3/4. I mean, it has to be hard to go out to eat and not be able to eat even as much as someone banded can eat.
  7. I really don't like fried anything. I just realized that. Every time I eat an onion ring, I pull the onion out and leave the breading. Same with fish and chips. I can't think of anything that I eat fried that I don't take the outside off I have to go to a baby shower this weekend. I plan to take an appetite suppressant to help me avoid cake. I have no willpower to watch people eat something I love, and chocolate cake calls for heavy artillery.
  8. It's hard to get the fiber in that we need with the band. Fiber One cereal has about the most fiber in anything you can eat. All those fiber caps, benefiber, etc, can't compare to the amount of fiber you can get from a serving of fiber one.
  9. I hope someone comes in here to answer your question. I am not in the medical field, so I don't have an answer. Maybe you should start a new thread to ask this question . This question needs a thread all it's own. It's an important question. It does sound like something went wrong with his surgery.
  10. Yes. He has the little band like I do, that only holds 4 ccs. Our surgeon has decided that band was too small for him to begin with. Plus he has fallen in love with running. You are exactly right. I was too tight and did not know it. I was fine in the daytime. I never pbed or threw up or whatever you want to call it. food never got stuck. Then I started puking in my sleep. When I had the esphagram, the barium just sat in my esophagus and never moved down through the band, until part of my fill was removed. It sure made me wonder how long my food was sitting in there. That is when I really started wishing I had known about the sleeve to begin with. You can be tight and not even know it, and do damage to yourself.
  11. Congratulations Mac! I am afraid to get rid of all my fat clothes. I have this fear that my band will fail, my stomach will erode, and I will not be able to get a revision surgery. I have always been a worrier. When I was a freshman in H.S. I wondered what I would wear for senior pictures. I tried fried pickles. I was surprised a restaurant here had them. They just tasted like pickles. Kat has not checked in. I am wondering how DD is today.
  12. right, but I had my banding on a fri and went back to work on monday. I had no recovery to speak of. I know that won't be the case with all this scar tissue around my port.
  13. You already know which doctor I will be going to. I have been thinking about it a lot lately, how to arrange the time off work, see my dad, and get the surgery all at once. It's kind of a juggling act with my dad's situation. I am sure I will not be able to go back to work as fast as I did with LB surgery.
  14. I was a self pay too. I would have never heard about the sleeve if it weren't for this board. I wish I had gotten it from the beginning too, but I only found out about the band from going to support group with my daughter who had RNY. After I was banded, I found Lap Band Talk. I am glad Alex started the sleeve section of this board. I think more and more people will be getting revision surgeries. RNY is not a perfect surgery either. I have lost count of all the people who were morbidly obese got down to goal, and have gained it all back. The dumping does not last for everyone. Plus they stretch out their pouch. I don't have a problem with my band right now, but I always wonder when I will. I do have a problem with restriction too, and this is just another diet I am on long term. I can eat anything I want right now. I am going to get a fill in the beginning of March but it scares me. I want restriction back, but I don't want to go back to puking in the middle of the night. That is what scares me about the band. You really don't know you have damaged your stomach until it's already damaged. That's why I think cutting it off is the answer. Cut it off and I will be good to go, hopefully! I have been thinking of ways to come up with the money lately. Another problem is taking time off from work. When I was banded, I had surgery on a fri. and went back to work on monday. I don't think that will be possible with a revision, when I can literally see the scar tissue sticking out of my side near my port. YUCK!
  15. They said they were reading this from something posted on FB. I really don't care, but it's good to know that. It makes me want to be more careful that's for sure.
  16. Donna here's hoping you and I get the perfect fill. Being too tight is dangerous, and it scares me to think I was too tight for a long time without problems with pbing and food getting stuck. Waking up from a sound sleep coughing, choking, and puking is not fun. It's scary. On another note, on the View this morning they read something on the air about Face Book. Apparently, when you sign up for FB, you give them the right to use anything you write or any of your pictures, however they choose to.
  17. There are a lot of people who say they are happy with their bands, but yet have lists of foods they can't eat. So many bandsters fight constipation because they aren't able to eat fruits or veggies. I think there are a lot of people who are happy with their bands because they are thinner, but will still admit that they can't eat normally. I know Jacqui stresses eating a balanced diet, but for some bandsters, that is fairly impossible.
  18. What do you do if you get a leak? And how do you know if you develop one?
  19. I wish there were more people who posted who have had their bands for years and years. It would be nice to know exactly how many years the band is going to stay in place without complications. I do know someone who has had his band for 8 years, but he can't tolerate any fill what so ever.
  20. It stands for productive burp. Basically, a pb is when you burp and food comes back up with it. For the most part, when we talk about pbing, it's not just a burp. It's throwing up. It's just that you throw up the food that is stuck, and not stomach bile. It seems no matter how tight I have been, I have always been able to eat bread. This is not a good thing. Actually, there never has been a food that I can't eat, as long as I chew it up until there is nothing left to chew.
  21. Someday your surgeon will be my surgeon!
  22. Looks like we all need a fill. I am so happy to be able to get one, even though I have to wait until March 2nd. I was afraid after all that throwing up in the middle of the night, my surgeon would not let me have one. After speaking to him at support group, he feels like I could have a little one, which won't bring that problem back. I really hope that problem does not come back, because it was so weird to be able to eat anything I wanted in the daytime, have nothing ever get stuck, and find out I was too tight.
  23. Unfortunately, Dr. Watkins hasn't been around lately. I would like to see his answer to your post.
  24. I am 100 miles from Costco, but I will buy it there the next time I am out of town. This is good to know!
  25. I like that. Right sizing of the stomach. All I need is enough to sustain me, not all that excess that causes me misery. I am happy that I got a band and lost weight, but I feel like I have a ticking time bomb wrapped around my stomach.
