  1. I just got a revision surgery from band to sleeve. I asked him if my hair was going to fall out again and he told me to increase my zinc. I told him I got plenty of Protein after band surgery and it still fell out from 4 months post op to one year. He said it's not protein, it's zinc. I need to remember to get some next time I am at the store. My hair is still not completely recovered from band surgery over 2 years ago.
  2. I don't think hunger is a feeling. I would consider that head hunger. Hunger is when I can feel my stomach so empty that it aches.
  3. You need to drink low sodium broth. It is so much better. I always check for low sodium ones because if I get regular, they are way too salty for me. If You have a GNC, you can get unflavored whey protein powder and mix it in crystal light or sf lemonaide, or anything sugar free that you like.
  4. Sometimes if the band is left unfilled for a few weeks and they put you on a liquid diet, the band will go back to the right position. Any time you have these night time problems, get into your doctor immediately. It's dangerous! I revised to a sleeve because the band damaged my esophagus from throwing up in my sleep.
  5. You were definitely stuck and it finally made it through the band. You need to make sure you chew your food until there is nothing left to chew. Being stuck is painful. Eventually, it will not go through the band, and it will come back up. Until it does, you will be in pain. that is why you must take itty bitty bites and chew it up until it's liquid in your mouth.
  6. I am very sorry for your loss. My kids grew up without a father and nobody should have to go through this. I think it would benefit this board if you posted your story in more than one place. A lot of people don't come to this section of the board. People need to know that this doctor is not what people think. Your story needs to be told all over this board. You would be doing so many people a favor who are considering this doctor.
  7. Here they call them pharmacy techs. I have no idea what they get paid though.
  8. I know some of what is going on is head hunger. I was at my bf's house a bit ago, and he opened the fridge. I saw a bottle of hershey's chocolate syrup in there and I wanted to squirt the bottle down my throat! Now that is head hunger. The rest of the hunger I have is not in my head. My stomach just growls and gnaws and I feel like I am going to starve half to death. It's' very annoying. I drink Water, and I am getting plenty of Protein in. I am amazed that my stomach growls like this because I am hardly getting any carbs in. Usually when I did the atkins diet, my stomach did not growl. My protein mix has 2 or 3 grams of carbs and I think crystal light is zero. I am so glad I am moving to full liquids on Sunday! I can't wait to feel the benefit of the sleeve and feel full on a few bites of food.:glare:
  9. I am really anxious to be off this stupid but necessary liquid diet so I can really see how the sleeve works. Elizabeth and Susan were not hungry but I am starving most of the time. My stomach just growls and growls. I really hope when I move to full liquids on Sunday, this will improve. This is, by far the only thing hard about this entire process.
  10. Honestly, I would not have liked to have to wait to get insurance approval. Once I decided I wanted the band out, I started calling Dr. Aceves. There is nobody else I would want to do my band. I was 20-30 lbs over weight due to having to have hardly any fill in my band. I was having band complications that I could see just getting worse, not better. I didn't want to fool around getting fills and unfills constantly, when I knew how and why the sleeve works. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Aceves and would highly recommend him, the hospital and the entire staff.
  11. I went by myself. Sometimes it amazes me that I did. I don't like to do anything alone. Anytime I want to do something, I call friends and if they can't go, I just stay home. I still can't believe I got on a plane, went to a strange airport, drove with strangers to a strange hospital, and had surgery where they removed a good majority of my stomach.
  12. You are supposed to get an upper GI at some point in time, but you could have that done anywhere. Honestly, there is no other doctor I would have wanted to do my sleeve other than Dr. A. Whether he was somewhere in the U. S. or in Mexico that's where I would have gone.
  13. Congratulations Angel! That's only a month from now and I am sure the time will fly by! A really good friend of mine is there right now. She had sleeve surgery yesterday. Yay for the sleeve! We are all going to be living happier lives!
  14. Did you go to Dr. Aceves? If you did, we were there at the same time. My surgery was 4-29
  15. All you can do is call and ask . they have their toll free# listed to the right of the screen.
  16. Restless monkey is right. You should tell your doctor because acid reflux with an unfilled band is not a good thing. You can't stay that way or you are at risk for a whole bunch of problems.
  17. Are you completely unfilled? If you get reflux without a fill, you're going to have real problems if you get a fill. Ask your doctor for a prescription for Nexium of one of the other acid reducers.
  18. I mixed crystal light with unflavored Protein powder. If you get some unflavored protein powder, you can mix it in just about anything. There is Hawaiian punch sugar free that's tasty. A lot of people just use Isopure because it's easy.
  19. Yeah, it's nice since Alex created the girl's room for us to talk about anything we wanted. This thread has been a real eye opener for me.
  20. That's good to know. Better to just stay away then instead of hoping the sleeve will force a reasonable sized serving.
  21. Thank you. I will try to convince her to try it. She is convinced all protein powders are going to taste yucky.
  22. I am doing better today with the hunger. I decided to get some extra Protein in and that has helped. I feel bad for Elizabeth and Susan who felt like they had to force liquids. I have the opposite problem. I want liquids non stop, since that's all I can have. I mixed my unflavored Protein powder with a new flavor of crystal light today and made an extra one just now. I should make it through the evening without my stomach gnawing away at me. (I hope)
  23. Hey that's pretty cool. Seriously though, your wife is going to need support when she gets the sleeve. The first few weeks on the liquid diet are difficult. It's nice to have people know what you're going through.
  24. You sound too tight to me. Having a slight unfill does not mean you have to have a lot taken out. The tiniest amount can make a huge difference. Weight loss is not good if you aren't getting adequate protein. Most people start losing again once they get that little tiny unfill. Plus, throwing up a lot is what causes a slip.
  25. Oh I am not big into chips. I was just wondering how full certain things make us with this tiny stomach. Ice cream is definitely my down fall and with the band, I could eat way too much. It just slid right through the band. I know I have to stay away from it. I am really curious though if getting full fast with the small stomach applies to all foods. This is all new to me.
