  1. i am responding because i am going through the same thing. Last night, my friends told me that i should just do this food intake reduction myself and not go through this surgery. So naturally i had a meltdown last night. I know that this is the right thing and now i feel like i have to prove it to myself and to my friends..... I am banded on november 22nd. Please stay in touch.
  2. My surgery is november 22nd and I am also excited and nervous! I start a 14 day preop of protein shakes :frown: on sunday.... ugh! I am sure we can share war stories.

    I like your posts Sandra Dee. I am getting banded on 11/22. Naturally most if not all of my friends are telling me that they are "scared" for me and that this is so serious! So too is being so heavy at just 5'3". I will write more but thanks in advance for your great blogs!
  4. So here I am... three more days of eating before pre-op. I've been thinking about all the foods that I want to eat and then forget about for a very long time. All these foods got me to where I am today. My relationship with food needs to change. My lapband will provide the tool to aid me in losing weight. I have to be disciplined and ready - and I am! What is scaring me are some of the blogs and feeds that I am reading about the pain following surgery. Does the incision where the port is really hurt? Will I be able to get to sleep at night? (Hello drugs!!!) How much gas is there really? The other thing that scares me is climbing the walls during post op and not having anything to eat for the week thereafter. But then I turn it around and hear that it's all worth the pain of a few weeks to be down a dress size and/or more. Seems that most are losing quite a bit of weight between the preop and postop 1 week. Any feedback? Greatly appreciate it. My band date is November 22nd:smile:

    Now that I know my banding date is in 2 weeks and a few days -- November 22nd, I am enjoying and savoring all the foods I probably won't be eating for a very long time. In fact, if I do get to have them down the road, it will be in such small quantities. But I am ready. I am so ready. I want to have fun shopping again instead of dreading the plus size department. I want to enjoy going out instead of coming up with excuses to stay home. I want to love me again!!! I keep asking myself how this happened... as if I don't know. The weight just crept up and up and every five pounds all culminated to where I am today. Why didn 't I diet and get those 5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50/55/60/65/70/75/80/85/90/95/100/105/110/115/120 pounds off before coming to this decision to have the lapband? The journey begins with the protein liquid preop. Oh what fun!!! But just for a short period of time. November bandsters - let's all stay in touch!!!
  6. I am required to have 14 days of liquid protein. Wish my doctor told me that I could have one protein hot meal. This is the beginning of a new life -- new journey. Banding on 11/22. Very excited. I am taking the Thanksgiving week off... I'll probably have to stay doped up all week to forget about the hunger and pain . Any suggestions?

    I am 5'4 and 249. Need to lose 120 pounds. I too am a self pay at close to $18,000. Hearing these stories of no weight loss scares the hell out of me but there are more people that have lost than not lost. I hope I have not emptied my savings for nothing!!! I get banded on November 22nd and pray for speedy recovery and weight loss!

  11. Sure wish I could have Saltines. Sounds like heaven. I start on November 8th for two weeks of protein shakes and then get banded on November 22nd. I'm nervous but thrilled to get this done. Let me hear from you.:thumbup:

    I am getting banded on November 22nd and wondering how I am going to get through a 14 day protein shake regimen until surgery. I don't like milk products and I hate protein powders. Why can't they let you have Kashi cereal which has as much protein and fiber as a scoop of the crap?

  15. Dear Maria: I have found your posts very inspiring - particularly your letter to FOOD. I am being banded on November 22nd and am scared but excited. I have to do a 14 day protein fast - WTF!!! I am hearing of people only having to do three days before surgery.... not fair. Not fair at all. And then like two weeks of liquids. If that doesn't take off 30 pounds (out of 120) I don't know what else would. Look forward to hearing from you ... csolo (Cathy)
