    help need advice

At 5'5" and 240...with good luck, your skin will snap back. At age 18 your chances are terrific (but not guaranteed.) I think about the tiny little 20 year olds I know with huge pregnancies whose skin reduces and looks terrific in months. I had my surgery done at 46, and was stunned at how well things reduced back into place. I have a few trouble areas, but I don't mind how I look naked at all. I was open to skin surgery, but don't feel I need it. At 18, I think you're gonna look amazing:) Best wishes.

    GONNA LOOSE IT

I’m sorry you are going through this. What is your surgeon telling you as to why this is happening or what you can do to get past this? What are they doing to help you with your fluid & food intake (dehydration must be a real concern) or reducing the nausea? What tests have they done? If they haven’t, start demanding something be done. My multivitamins used to make me nauseous & I often threw up in the morning but after that I’d be fine. But that’s nothing like you’re going through. I’m also surprised by your surgeon saying 10lbs a week is slow. It wouldn’t t even be considered slow if you were in excess of 500lbs. At your starting weight it’s a pretty darn fast rate of loss especially at three months out. I never got that chew, chew, chew thing. Just chew & swallow naturally. At three months you’re fully healed. I hope you can get some answers & a solution soon. All the best.

    Postoperative issues with WLS

Transfer addictions are a consideration. Some minor ones are just very expensive hobbies you always wanted to do (the serious ones can be alcohol etc) You may become fixated on new clothes, specialty equipment or even eyelash extensions 🤫

    Post OP tip

See picture! so I went home on Easter Sunday and thought Premier Protein 1 gram of sugar , 160 calories, 30 protein fit all the requirements, although it did some requirements not all of them so with this surgery you must follow to the letter. the only one true protein shake that I needed was Ensure Max Protein Shake this is considered a clear protein shake and I have been able to tolerate it. the other one I poured a 1 ounce cup and sipped less than 1/4 of it and immediately my stomach did not tolerate it, kept coming back up my throat. so I hope this helps you guys when you are post OP, remember all protein shakes are not created equal.

I have been using the small bowls and plates too. Funny thing is that it is plenty of food on those little plates!

    Mental hunger

I cleared a path from one end of house to the other and I would just start walking when I felt head hunger. Just back and forth from one end to the other for about five minutes was long enough to distract me and then I would go back to whatever I was doing. I also do this while I’m on the phone or if I have any anxiety and according to Apple Watch I get like 30 exercise minutes a day without really trying.

So I was told (and experience it) a little differently (p.s. I'm a sleeve): Its not that the liquids "wash down" food out of my stomach, and makes me hungrier sooner, its that when I have food in there, any liquids I drink will take up the available space and fill me up quick. So much so that I can't eat another bite...and if I do (or take another gulp of liquid) I can feel the material rise up in my esophagus or something and eventually barf. I have found that this phenomenon happens only when I drink AFTER I eat something (i.e., when there is something in my stomach already). But if I down a 500ml bottle of water before I start eating, there is no issue. So I imagine it as food blocking the way to my intestines, and then liquid just sitting on top of it. Anything more added until the food goes on its way will just come back up. For this reason, I don't drink until about 30-40 minutes AFTER I eat, nor do I drink during. But I DO drink right up to the moment I take my first bite. Which is why I rarely order/eat brothy soup with solid chunks in it.

Green Smoothie 2 Weeks post op

So I tried a green smoothie today - 1/2 a banana 1/2 cup mixed berries a handful of spinach soy milk and protein powder - Blended pretty thin. It tasted great but holy heck it hit my stomach like a ton of bricks. I felt nauseous and my stomach hurt so much after like 3 sips. I felt unwell for about 2 hours after and I was at work for my first day back so I wasn't in a rush to leave. Was this dumping? Should I try again with less fruit? Was it just something I can't tolerate right now? That pain though, nope, I never want it again. I have had a great first 2 weeks other than this no pain, fluids in easy - getting in about a cup of strained soup at meal times and I have been feeling great. Anyone else not tolerating smoothies at this stage? Any tips?

Mental hunger? I did not think it was a real thing, until now.
