    Estimated Weight Loss?

Exactly. My surgeon told me 60-65% of excess weight was what to expect. She recommended sleeve for where I was (around a 40-41 BMI when I had my first consult) and for the fact you are unlikely to have dumping issues or absorption issues. However, before she made the final decision I had to do an endoscopy to show that I didn’t have reflux issues or that would mean bypass. As Luna Girl said, you have to commit to follow the plan and change you eating habits. I did not stray from the pre-op or post-op diet stages, and only ate the things that were appropriate for each stage. Now I’m not going to lie - I’ve had a cookie here or there or a small ice cream a few times - but I log everything and I have one on occasion as a special treat - I don’t eat 6 cookies in one sitting - actually, I don’t think I’ve even had 6 cookies in total since surgery! And I was probably 5 months along before I had any of those things in small doses. Surgery is a tool - not a magic bullet - and I think sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of that. The last thing I will say is that my only regret is not doing this sooner. You’ve already done the hardest part in taking the first step - stick with it and good luck on your journey!

    Estimated Weight Loss?

The estimates are based on averages. Some lose more, some lose less. I honestly believe, if you embrace your drs plan, and change your relationship with food, you will be successful. Good Luck!

    THE DREADED STALLS!

it's the infamous "three week stall". Almost all of us experience that. In fact, if you do a search on this site of the three week stall, you will find about 17,000 posts on it (and no, I am NOT kidding!). Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days. It'll break and you'll be on your way again. It usually last a week or two - but for a few people (a minority) it last for three. And just so you're prepared, you're likely to hit a few of these on your journey. It's a common part of weight loss...

    Weight gain

I'm 2 1/2 month post op. I've lost a total of 36lbs since surgery day. I get frustrated and even little sad when I get on the scale and it's saying I just gained almost 5lbs in 3 days. How does that happen?

    THE DREADED STALLS!

Very, very common and you’ll likely experience at least another one while you’re losing. Think of them as your body taking a breath from all the changes & stress - surgery, reduced caloric intake, change of diet, change of activity levels, etc. Just like when you sometimes need to close your door & take time away for yourself in times of stress so does your body. Some say increase your calories &/or your exercise. I never changed a thing & stuck to my plan - why make more changes to stress my body more. The stall always broke. Yours will too.

    Sick from protein powders

Oh ok. Also keep in mind, or at least this was true for me, I was told not to worry too much in the first few weeks about getting the entire amount of protein or even water in. My surgeon, and the paperwork the dietician provided, said that many times it's hard to meet those goals in the beginning weeks but that was ok. I imagine once you move on to puree, or whatever comes next for you, that you will easily be able to get your protein from other sources aside from the powder/liquid protein drinks if those are truly an issue for you.

    Daily Calories

I'm 13 months out from surgery and my calorie intake varies wildly, anywhere from 1100 to 2000 calories per day, with the vast majority of days in the 1300 to 1600 range. I'm still losing weight though, hit my lowest weight in 35 years this morning.
