    First Surgeon Visit

For me I started my journey at the end of February and today is my FINAL required pre surgery doctor's (pulmonology) appointment. I'm hoping they will not require any additional testing and so that I can contact my surgeons office today have them submit my info to the insurance company. We'll see! Best of luck to everyone!!!

Haven't had surgery yet but how about those sites that send you clothes? Not sure if they are worth it, or if it works like I'm thinking but, maybe that would be a good way to try new clothes as you lose? Here is a site that has some tips: https://www.bariatricbody.co/post/12-step-guide-for-shopping-buying-and-making-your-clothing-wardrobe-work-after-bariatric-surgery

    Sick of Liquid Diet

I’ve been there I was losing it, everywhere I looked there was food. It definitely suck but I promise it gets better and makes that first day of purée foods a blessing. I’m 12 days post op and I had the same feeling. TRUST me it gets better and I know it’s easier said then done but it will get better.

That totally makes sense. I don't either, so I hope I don't have to do the apnea test. We'll see.

    Caffeine limits and guidelines

I was told to avoid caffeine for the first 30 days due to the potential diuretic effect, and they wanted to make sure I got enough fluids. Now almost 9 months out, I am back to my normal caffeine habit, 2-4 large cups per day.

    Are Protein Drinks Legitimate?

Thanks. I agree. I hoped coming here I might find a spark, you know? Something to inspire me to a greater commitment. MY "want to" and my willpower are weak. In my past I have made up my mind to do some difficult things and achieved them. My want to is just not strong enough. Like you say, I can do some things and I'm working on those. No bread for a few days. Lean protein from drinks and turkey bologna and low fat cheese. Salads. More water consumption. I want to turn the corner and go all out, but I am unable to. Part of it I suppose is my love for diet Mt. Dew.

    Why am I hungry

I have also been ravenous since my surgery last Monday, but I can't stomach the sweetness of the protein shakes anymore so I've been having skim milk and water or crystal light. @Creekimp13 thank you for your explanation - many people have told me it was head hunger, but I didn't believe it was because I would literally eat a boiled unseasoned chicken breast right now if I could.

    Concerned about vegetables and fruit

When you are a year or two out, vegetables and fruit that's low on the glycemic index (most berries) are a great way to fill up if your appetite returns. Don't worry!

So mad at myself for regain

Remember your why. Why did you want this back in 2014? For me it was not only my physical looks but other things. I couldn’t bend down and tie my shoes without having to breathe in between. Bending down like that cut off my breath. Another thing and this May be TMI, but I couldn’t hardly wipe my butt when I went potty. I remember sitting on the toilet crying because I couldn’t reach. I couldn’t walk or stand more than just a few minutes without my lower back burning and aching. Diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family. These are my whys. So you’ve gained 40 back. Thank God it’s not the 101, right? Start back with the protein shakes, maybe substitute a meal a day for one and when you’re comfortable with that substitute two meals a day with a shake. I lost 26 pounds in 3 months prior to surgery from that alone. When you want a snack in between, have one. But make it something healthy and filling like a banana or cottage cheese. You’ve done this before. You know what to do. All you have to do now is, just do it. Sending you positive vibes and hopes for your success!!! ❤️
