just keep in mind that rate of weight loss varies widely among people based on so many different factors - age, gender, metabolic rate, starting BMI, whether or not you lost weight prior to surgery, how compliant you are with your food plan, activity level. I was a slow loser and thought there was no way I was ever going to lose all my excess weight, but I did.

Having wls is not at all giving in. It takes courage and the strong desire to be healthy to put yourself through major surgery. We have all struggled with yo yo dieting. Losing the weight only to put it back in plus more. This is not your fault. Some of it has to do with genetics. Plus once we put weight on our bodies reach a set point. It thinks this is the weight we are supposed to be so will literally fight us to get back to original weight. it is great that you are already in therapy. A good bit of our food issues are in our heads. You will do well to get your head straight before surgery. The surgery is just a tool. There is still a lot of work to be done on our part to not only lose the weight but also to maintain. hang in there. You got this and we are here to support you.

Same here and I paid for it with elevated parathormone. A calcium deficiency doesn't show in regular blood work.

    How much would YOU pay???

Medicare covered everything prior and the $4000 covered everything surgery related and 7 days in private hospital private room; multiple tests in Hospital; television, food. no motel just petrol and had to buy my own vitamins and medication after I left hospital all surgeon consultation now covered as well it was an all inclusive package for the $4000- No actual psych clearance needed just a referral and a good discussion with the surgeon and of course all my labs and medical history sent to him it was a very simple process here in Australia... Oh I've had to buy my own protein shakes I know some hospitals give out protein... $4000 is a small price to pay for a new life 😛 & a fast track program! It's 8.5 months since I started my own pre-op diet and I've lost a total of 152lbs and been maintaining now a few weeks at 170lbs...

I can do relate to you. The weird weight gains and slow losses are frustrating. I’ve been using happy scale to track weight loss, so I can see a slow loss is happening. It’s just frustrating because I was losing faster on a higher calorie diet before the surgery than I am now. My nut has told me not to worry and that things will start happening soon. It’s hard to be patient, though. Especially when reading that the first 2-3 months after are when you experience the greatest weight loss. And at almost a month out, I haven’t lost a great deal at all.

    HIIT or normal exercise

HIIT is great and blows away any steady state cardio. What type of HIIT is up to you as there are many. Personal opinion is that you absolutely should incorporate weights into your training. Building muscle is key as we loose body fat. Good luck!
