I weighed in at 196 this weekend! Life is good! I can barely eat anything, I’m losing weight so fast, I’m a pound per day basically. How long does this initial weight loss last?

    Lost / Gained 100 Pounds

So far you're maintaining an excess weight loss of 100 lbs two years out of surgery (if I read one of your previous posts correctly). In the eyes of a WLS surgeon that makes you still a success. Wherever you'll go: don't take the road to self-hate and "feeling like a failure". Believe me. A lot of people on here do understand. They might not post much or at all, most of them are not even on here but they are out there. No one can question that who've looked at the many papers dealing with long term success rates. Many patients regain weight, some lose it again, some not. I had a temporary regain years ago when I stopped smoking and then again when my band had to be unfilled because of worsening reflux/GERD. It does feel horrible but "feeling like a failure" gets you nowhere. On the contrary, extra self-care and self-compassion seems to work way better than scolding yourself. And even if it doesn't - at least it feels better.

If you have the time I have not found any pre made shakes that i think are great - You do not have to buy the pre made you can make your own - Powders of protein and vitamin powders and almond milk or other high end healthy milks - Fruits and a nutra bullet- I find the different milks from whole foods or sprouts to be a much better shake But it takes time and energy Advantage is you can pump them up big time with as much protein and vitamins and fruit as you want -

Before the surgery I loved the protein water in all flavors. After the surgery I couldn’t tolerate them. I like the muscle milk, chocolate and vanilla, I like making coffee and mixing it the night before, refrigerate over night, and cold chocolate coffee for breakfast is the best! Bulletproof unflavored protein powder is good too. I’m about to switch to plant based protein powder and hoping to find one I like too.

You are a monster! Amazing job. My stats are approximately the same as yours but it took me a year. Although, I cant say that ive been perfect like you though.

I used premier after my sleeve surgery but find my stomach won’t tolerate them after my recent revision to bypass. I highly recommend trying these samples. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/syntrax-nectar-protein-powder-trial-sizes-17-flavors-to-choose-from?vec=eyJ2ZVRwIjoiRk9SVU0iLCJ2clRwIjoiTU9TVF9QT1BVTEFSIiwidnJJcCI6IjEifQ%3D%3D my favorite is the chocolate truffle and I tolerate them very well. I would be Leary of a one per day vitamin. Iron and calcium will counteract each other in certain doses. Also check with your team as they may require you to start on chewables. I take the bariatric fusion. Bottle says take 4 per day but my dr assures me that if I take two twice per day I will get the same results. I like that I don’t need any extra d3, iron or calcium with these. good luck!

    What the Prep...

I stocked up too. I wanted to be prepared, especially since I knew I shouldn't be lifting big cases of vitamin water or protein shakes and things of that nature post op. Overall, I was glad I was prepared. BUT... The only caution I will give to others pre-op who are reading this thread... be careful not to stock up too much! There were several things I had and liked pre-op that did NOT sit well with me post-op. For example: Chocolate Premier Protein Shakes and Premier Protein Water. I liked and drank them pre-op. I hated them post-op. I forced myself to finish the chocolate shakes, but I gave the protein water away. And that stuff is expensive! I also didn't like the bariatric soup mixes I bought and some of the goat cheese crackers Still have them, but they aren't getting used up. The protein oatmeals are way too much for me to eat, so I don't eat those. Luckily my daughter likes some of them. I bought WAY too much jello and Popsicles. Still have the jello, but the popsicles were taking up valuable freezer space so I threw them out. Oh... and I have an abundance of tuna/chicken packets which I will use, but I was using them much more in pre-op diet mode and I am sick of them now.

Hey 👋 Your stomach capacity may change over time. So the first 6 months may feel different from the next 6, etc etc Ah to be young and in love...You and your GF don't have to be on the same diet, but you do have to stick to yours. DO NOT switch to her diet unless your Surgeon agrees. So this is a where real life sneaks up on you and sadly can't always meal prep... When eating out, I ALWAYS ask for the plainest preparation possible (burgers: everything on the side no sauces, chinese food: just the meat and VEGETABLES- you knew that was coming 😅, mexican: no rice, chips or extra sauces & cheeses, etc.) This way i can try to estimate the cals in the food easier The hair loss is called Telogen Effluvium, consult- Dr. Google Body Dysmorphia likely will stick around maybe therapeutic treatment exist but I find photos help immensely because you can actually compare the differences Good Luck💚

Girlfriend. You've just described a slippery slope. You are seeking it preferentially. And it's lighting up your brain like heroine. When a food does that to me, I flag it and red light it.
