Hi everyone :) I was wondering if I could ask for some help please? A quick introduction to my weight history. SO from a young age I was always overweight. Primary school I was the chubby girl, in high school I was the fat girl and in university the weight piled on even more until I got to around 16 and a half stone where the weight maintained itself. Then in the year of 2016/17 I went on an extreme diet and exercise regime where I lost ALOT of weight by myself, in the beginning it was great I felt in control and very motivated but then by the end of 2017 I had lost too much weight, I was severely depressed, lacking in nutrients, I had no friends and my weight plummeted to 6 and a half stone :(. Then in February of 2018 something just snapped in me I was tired of being constantly anxious and avoiding food so I just started eating EVERYTHING I had banned and BOOM by the end of 2018 I was back up to 17 stone again!! I understand that my body needed the food but my anorexia phase went straight into binge eating and I have been struggling ever since :( all that hard work for nothing but I was so miserable I just wish I hadn't taken it so far! Now I want to have WLS (I am going to therapy) and have been in contact with a surgeon here in the UK who is lovely, I want to take my time, heal my mind and body but I am just so down with my relationship with myself and food at the moment :( Can anyone offer any advice please? The surgeon believes the mini gastric bypass would be the best route but I would need to select the package with the 12 phycologist sessions. How has everyone's experience been after surgery? I just am afraid of going back the way I was, I never want to be like that again but I am feeling horrible at the moment :( Thank you! :) Char

Well at seven years out I still have that pattern. I eat very little at a time and am routinely hungry again in a couple of hours. Stick to healthy choices. Eating will never be the same way it was and that is a good thing. It feels like punishment now, but after a little bit of time you just don't think about it and accept it. Your focus changes to other things besides food and life gets pretty great.

Swimming takes a little while but helps. If you don't have swim fins, invest in a pair. They help you have a better balanced workout.

Thank you so very much!!! It feels really amazing to hit that goal. I just posted a video of myself showing the progress from losing 100 lbs. (238 lbs. to 138 lbs.) I'm spinning and it's only a minute long but has some before/after photos. It was a fun way to document this entire journey the last 9.5 months.

You don’t WANT that feeling to go away. That feeling goes away and you lose awareness. More immediately, it depends on how much you’ve overeaten to gauge how long until the nausea fades, and it’s different for every person. When I overeat (the difference can be as small as half a bao) it usually takes me 15-20 mins to level out. One tip: do not try to drink water to “wash it down”. That trick does not work anymore. You just have to ride it out and next time you’ll pay a lot more attention to that limit-approaching feeling.

I am still pre-op but I can sort of relate. My mother & I live in the same house & we’ve been having it out ever since I told her I wanted to take this journey. I had plans on telling her at the absolute last min but it was recommended to meet w/ your surgeon for the first time with the person who would be around w you immediately following surgery. Well she sang a diff tune during the appt when the surgeon kind of “put her in her place” abt the crazy notions she had abt other ppl who’s journey’s that have been unsuccessful & the dangers. She’s not healthy AT ALL. Breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, constant joint pains.... so I know better than to really take in everything she says 🤷🏾‍♀️ but she’s my mother & I know, if needed, she would kill for me but in this situation, I’m looking forward to dealing w/ this on my own. She’s not going to be of any help AT ALL. I had a revelation a couple weeks ago because the first argument we had about the way she “supports” me, I cried & realized this is why they make you have psych evals. They say you may face depression & changing relationships & that sh*t is hard. It was a sadness I hadn’t felt in a long time & I thought she would be happy I’m not falling into another generational curse. I’m preparing myself as much as possible to focus on what I need bc I also know that stress has adverse reactions on health & weight loss as well so I can’t worry about the dependence of anyone else anymore. Newly in a relationship & my boyfriend even told me to come stay w/ him for 2 weeks but I don’t wanna put that on him. Anyway, be strong! You have such a community here & I know we are all rooting for each other. Months/years from now, you’ll realize how much stronger you are for having to deal w/ family the way you have. You’ll be happy that you’re healthy & don’t have to be a slave for the junk that got us in these bad spots to begin with. YOU’VE GOT THIS!

I smoked 20-30 per day from age 17. Quit for pregnancy, quit for 48 hours once later. Quit in forever attempt for 2 years after doing the Alan Carr course before my Mum got pancreatic cancer and life personally and professionally exploded. Then finally quit cold turkey in Jan last year. Built up to it for 6 months after first bariatric consultation. Slipped once after. Got drunk with a good friend and had two ciggies. I liked smoking, but at this stage, having gone the whole 12+ month cycle of ‘first withouts’ (birthday, holiday, Christmas, pub, meal, flaming row, house move) I can look back and see how my brain chemistry controlled me and the habits I formed. Huge force of will for the time it takes for initially chemical detox, then repeated small efforts of resistance while your head tries to tell you you are hungry for nicotine. Patch/pill/other help probably makes sense. I deserve no creds for cold turkey, it was probably irresponsible. However you manage to catch your wave I wish you huge luck. I'm at a loss if you have tried both calorie ranges and hit your macros consistently with no different results. I understand the frustration. What has been you average calories for Jan 26th to feb 1st ? Your gaining and losing the same 4 pounds for 6 months, sounds like you are consistently eating your maintaining calories. Goto you average calories tab. Can you post it like your chart above ? Your chart says you average more fats than protein are you doing keto? Either do keto or low carb consistently.

I've been stuck at the same weight for about 5-6 months. I'll gain about 5 pounds then right back down. I know I mess up my eating sometimes, well a lot. But, I've been going to the gym now and eating less with no change. I thought it was just me
