Hey! I'm really sick of purees! But it's better than the liquid diet - that was brutal. I wish I never had to look at another protein drink as long as I live. I developed some serious food aversions on liquid because I was feeling so nauseous every time I ate something. So lots of things are cancelled. Moving on to purees. I'm doing much better b ut I still prefer to eat a large variety of food so I'm trying to mix it up a bit. Try some of these if you need ideas! (my favorite continues to be refried beans but I don't think I need a pic of that here) GREEK CHICKEN SALAD: rotisserie chicken, Trader Joe's tzatziki dip, black pepper, garnished with mint leaf (I food process the chicken and the sauce separately then mix them together with a spoon - it leaves just enough texture to keep me from going crazy - not a fan of chicken pudding) I also do regular chicken salad like this with mayo, lemon zest, dijon, salt, pepper; here's a pic of both

    SCARS from Incisions

It's been less than a month for you, I think you need to give it some more time. Mine are starting to lighten now at just under 9 weeks post-op and I'm using something called Bio-Oil.

    hope I don't chicken out

I just had the sleeve done 8 weeks ago and I'm 54 years old. It's never too late. And it's definitely a change of eating patterns and habits as you can only eat such a very small amount, about 2 oz at a time, but you eat about every 3 hours. I eat around 800 calories/day. Good luck with your decision.

Irritating and super frustrating. Good for you on holding the office to the after care plan. I felt like once the moneymaking was done - the surgery there was very little follow up despite the promises. Also I now wonder about my clinic statistics as I had 3 visits post op in 2015. Just where did they get six months 12 months three years data? Medicine in the USA remains for profit.

How long have you been obese?

I have been obese since I was about 12. I remember going to weight watchers at that age. I do think it is completely different perspective wise for those that have been obese their whole adult life. I am shocked now when I see myself, I look small to people that have known me now that I am at a more normal weight. I still worry about chairs with arms and stuff like that but the reality is I don’t need to. Old habits die hard either way.

How long have you been obese?

I am curious as to how many members on here have been obese since childhood, just since adulthood, or just for the past handful of years. How do you think that has shaped your expectations of surgery and your body image? I have only been obese for about 8 years. In my FB group, a lot of the women struggle with getting down to a smaller size because they aren't used to the compliments or they feel uncomfortable. I was "warned" prior to surgery that my brain won't catch up to my body size for a while. I have the opposite issue. I MISS the attention from men. My brain still sees me as skinny, so when I walk past a mirror I am shocked at my large size. I think that has played a huge role in my disappointment in the surgery and my unrealistic expectation that I should lose 50lbs a month. LOL. I am SO ready to be the me I know and miss, and losing "just" 70lbs isn't as big of an accomplishment as others may see it as. I will be proud when I accomplish that final plateau and settle into a size that my brain recognizes. I know this is a very different perspective than those that have been heavy since childhood, for example. Would love to have a dialogue about these differences and expectations.

    I’m losing it

My biggest issues with losing weight is trying to get back on track , I’m 10 months in and I’ve completely got off track. It’s driving me insane and it has made me super depressed!

    Throwing up when brushing teeth

Does anyone gag/throw up a little when they brush their teeth? I do every time and Im getting the bypass next week and Im scared. Any suggestions on how to stop this?

I’m sorry I don’t have any suggestions but I do suffer from the same thing. I do notice that it only happens when I brush the inside of my teeth in the morning. If I brush them late morning or afternoon I don’t have any issues. The thought of not brushing my teeth first thing in the morning is grosser than dealing with trying to to gag tho!
