    Food Addict

Hi everybody. I’m 18 days post op and so far I had one dumping episode because I ate to fast. But other than that, it’s pretty much smooth sailing so far (fingers crossed it continues to be) very thankful for that. Today I realized more than ever I’m a food addict. And I admit today I’m a food addict. I was in denial. And I always didn’t understand why I went back to eating junk once I tasted it again after a long period of dieting. 🤔 and now today, I wholeheartedly admit I’m an addict! I promised myself that I will never eat junk food again and drink fizzy sodas. Once I go back to eating on bite, I will go back for more. Come on, who can eat one bit of a cookie and leave it in the cookie jar??? Nobody!! Why would I kid myself ??? I can’t allow myself to see me slip back in old habits. It’s not worth it, I feel imprisoned in my body, the layers of fat, hiding the real me. Feeling heavy every day, painful ankles cuz of the weight , social isolation and feeling ugly. It’s not worth it for that taste! Just like any other drug, I have to completely stay away from it and I have to *accept* it. Trust me , these passed couple of days has been hard with feelings of resentment and self pity. How life is unfair .... even flashbacks of eating junk. Thinking about junk food , even thoughts of sabotaging myself with eating “slider foods” I felt bad. The gastric bypass was my last ditch effort , I can’t afford it to not succeed. I hope you guys are doing well on you journey. I hope mine will be successful and stay successful for the rest of my life. Because that’s truly it, it’s a life long battle whether one has to admit or not. When did you admit to yourself you have a food addiction? And what were the steps you took to overcome them? Thank you for reading 🙏🏻

I would take 1-2 small snacks + lunch. If you are on solids: Snack 1: 1 hb egg + 1/2oz blueberries Lunch: 2-3oz dense protein + 1-2oz cooked veg + 1tbsp WF Asian Vinaigrette (or WF Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette) OR if you can 2-3oz dense protein + 1cup of mixed salad (mixed greens, peeled cucumber, rbp, red onion, radish, avocado, gr. tomatoes) + WF vinaigrette Snack 2: 1 string cheese + 1/2oz almonds +/- 1oz Granny Smith apple with or without the peel OR if you can 1 deli meat/cheese rollup with 1-2oz raw veg (baby carrots, peeled celery, cucumber, radish) + 2tbsp Lite Salad Dressing like Ranch or BC (I heart Boar's Head Reduced Sodium Lacy Swiss slices + BH blackened turkey + baby spinach or shredded cabbage and purple onions rolled up in a wrap. Then as I eat it I drizzle on WF Italian Dressing. I usually have 2-3 grape tomatoes, or 1 GT + 2-3 slices of cucs + 1-2 baby carrots.) Boom. You're done. I eat some variation of these things every day for lunch. I "might" have 1 small snack if needed in the afternoon.

Losing hair - 8 days post up

Seriously? I was not told anything at all about hair loss, as long as we eat enough protein. Perhaps your body is just adjusting to your new pouch and the hair loss will stop. I sure hope it will! All the best.

I do Mio and water. Also coworker who had rny turned me onto peach tea crystal light mixed with syntrax lemon tea protein powder. Yum!! Also even if you do soups etc that still counts towards your liquids

Losing hair - 8 days post up

It took about 3 months after surgery to start losing a good deal of hair. I lost almost 1/2 of my hair before I reached my goal weight. It is kind of disturbing while it is happening. I had to keep reminding myself that the hair would return. The good news is that your hair does grow back. Things started looking a lot better after 1 year. I'm 3 years out and I have my full head of hair back. A bit of advice - don't waste money on products that claim to grow hair. No product can fix hair loss while you are on a very low calorie diet. I see posts recommending shampoos and supplements. I took biotin after surgery and it didn't have any effect on my hair loss.

You are self aware and have a good head on your shoulders. When you decide to kick it up a notch, you will do wonderfully. (Three days behind a push mower?! Are you freaking kidding me?! THAT'S a workout routine!!!)

I’m also a compulsive over eater and I think I too need OA. Are there OA groups that don’t require its members to eat a specific diet? Obviously after gastric bypass there are already plenty of restrictions for me at this point (I’m 5 weeks post op). Any advice? I’m craving things and am depressed about not being able to eat without fearing getting sick. Thanks! Megan

    Being "Fat" vs loose skin

Survey says, "Loose skin!!!!!" I'd rather be a melted candle all the live-long-day than be the size I was bwl (before weight loss). I was so sick, and in so much pain it wasn't even funny. It stopped me from living!!! I'm only just now getting to the point of being able to do more things--loose skin and all!
