    Two Weeks In....Good News!

I went to my first post op check in and am excited that already I am able to get rid of Metformin. My glucose level is all normal and Im 30 pounds down. Im so encouraged by the way my body is responding to the surgery. Working on my energy level but just thankful for the wonderful advice I've gotten here as a "lurker" and for this surgery. I feel hopeful about my health and more in control of my destiny then ever before.

    1 week post op -19lbs

I had my post op visit on 2/22/18 and everything went really well. I am down -19lbs since my surgery on 2/12/18. [emoji6] My doctor said to focus on hydration and exercise. [emoji108] I am happy with those results and trying to push myself into a healthier mentality. Like getting up to exercise, drinking water everywhere I go, getting to bed at a decent time, resisting the foods that got me here, etc. I really want a Philly Cheesesteak.[emoji31] [emoji23] Sleeved on 2/12/18

    Skin care

It helps get rid of the dead skin cells, increase blood circulation. I can hardly see my stretch marks unless I look for them. Heck, the exfoliating is even helping my one raised scar flatten out and not be so ref and angry Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

That's a lot of weight to lose in your first 10 days! Sounds like things are off to a really good start. Nah, you don't really want that cheesesteak, you just think you do. It's also good that you're working to establish a routine. That will be helpful later on.

    Having a History of Gerd

I have Gerd. I was on Protonix 1x per day 40 mg. He made me get EGD done. Then there was an dent is my stomach. Had to go to a specialist and have another EGD. He said at one time my spleen must have been enlarged at some point. I did have horrible reflux. I take protonix 40 mg 2x a day, and carafate 4x a day and finally i do not feel like a ate a ball of fire! Discuss your concerns with your dr. People are people...they're gonna think weird crap about everything. As the song goes....you can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself. My loose skin is goofy. Yep, I look a little like melted cheese. LOL But I look dang good in clothes these days, and even a bathing suit...so that's pretty cool:) My hubby is all about thinner me...then again...he was all about fatter me, too...so that hasn't changed much. In new relationships, I can see where it could be awkward, but people are pretty understand really. Everyone has something, you know? Cleanliness is no issue. Just shower. And ultimately, if it bothers you....there's skin surgery somewhere down the road if you want it. It's kind of a nonissue for me. Others might feel different.

    I'm torn. Gastric or Sleeve?

Thank you for your replies. I was always so against bypass for me. But I'm actually leaning towards it as of now. Crazy. I'm excited regardless. A new journey :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Taste changes

Food *tastes* the same...but my preferences have changed significantly. Also, food does not offer the same "relief" that it used to offer. Not sure that makes sense, but the "drug of choice" effect of food is missing, somehow. It's bittersweet. You're glad it's gone, because you know food shouldn't be a coping mechanism....but you're also going....what in the hell do I do for a coping mechanism now? it's disconcerting.
