Hello everyone my name is Holly.:) I am 23 years old and am thinking about get the lap band surgery.:) I joined this group to get help from people that know what it feels like to be over weight and unhappy about it. I am currently 235 pounds and i am 5 feet tall my bmi is 44 and I have sleep apnea. I am hoping that if I can get the lap band that it will change my life for good. I am 23 and have not gone swimming in a swimming suit since I was 12. I just want to be happy with the way I look. Maybe if I try hard enough I will finally have the life I have wanted for so long. I also want to thank all the people that have been so nice to me, it means a lot to hear good thing for a change.

Holly, I am 54 yrs old and have been over weight all my life I was told I was obese when I weighed 240 and went to the police academy and actually gained 10 lbs in 1977. Since then I have lost and gained hundreds of pounds and lost my gall bladder to boot. I have researched the lap band for the last 5 yrs or so and have been talked out of it by my family. I recently developed knee problems and have decided that I am being banded for myself and no one else. I just wish I had done this yrs ago. My surgery date will be scheduled for late June or early July good luck and don't worry about what others think , they will back you when you decide it is right for you.

Holly, I am 54 years old, too. Just found out today that my insurance approved me for the lapband. I've very excited about this news and tomorrow I will find out my surgery date. It will probably be scheduled for late June or early July.
