No it was not painful. To be honest with you, I was surprised to learn, doing preop prep, that I had gall stones. The doctor recommended taking out the gallbladder during lapband procedure. I did recall one incident, two years ago, when I had extreme adominal pain. Went to ER and they were not able to diagnose the problem. I now suspect it was due to gallbladder problems.

My gallbladder was removed and since then I've noticed better digestion and bowel movements.

I was banded yesterday:thumbup:, June 17 and everything went well. Dr. Chua, in Milwaukee, WI, is an excellent surgeon! He found out I had galls stones and my gallbladder was removed during surgery. Minimum pain after 2 days is at # 3. No gas/shoulder/neck pains yet. Just a little soreness. I thank God that he brought me this far and I will do my part to work toward completing my weight loss goal.

  5. I'm being banded on the 17th as well. Preparing to purchase everything needed for diet and feeling very excited and thankful. If you've done the research and followed your doctor's and staff advice, you'll be ok. Take a deep breath and meditate on ALL the good things about to happen. BE BLESSED--
  6. My band date is JUNE 17TH with Dr. Chua in Milwaukee, WI

Just wanted to share in your joy and expectation of being banded. I, too, will be banded on June 17 and I am so thankful. Today, I spent 3hrs with pre op testing. ALL IS WELL--take care and I wish you the best!

I'm 54 years old and will be banded 6/17/09 and I don't feel that I'm too old. In fact, is seems like the perfect time to really start living. I wish you well and you begin your new journey.
  9. Congrats ! I will join you on 6/17/09 as a bandster. It's been eight months since I started the process and everything has gone smoothly. I am very excited and thankful for my new beginning.
  10. Just found out that I'm scheduled for my lapband on 6/17/09 !!! I'm not required to go on the 2 wk pre op diet but I did complete 6 months of supervised nutritional program. Wish you the best.
  11. Holly, I am 54 years old, too. Just found out today that my insurance approved me for the lapband. I've very excited about this news and tomorrow I will find out my surgery date. It will probably be scheduled for late June or early July.
  12. I found out today after meeting with the dietitian that I will see her monthly for 6months.
  13. I live in Milwaukee--just met with my dietician a few days ago. Will meet with psych next week. Once approved, Dr. Chua will perform surgery at Aurora. Anyone out there insured under Wisconsin Badger Care Plus through United Health Care? If so, do you know what their criteria is for getting authorized? I contacted UHC and the rep stated she could not give me the info.
  14. After I meet with the dietian and psych next week, I will have a better idea as to when I will be banded. I hope it won't be six months or more. I wish you the best with your upcoming surgery. Let me know how it goes. I'll be praying for you.
  15. Do you live in Wisconsin and have Badger Care Plus HMO (standard plan) through United Health Care? If so, what steps did they require you follow before getting lapband approval?
