Lemon water or crystal light?

Hi,

I am on stage 2 soft foods but not allowed to have any fruits until stage 3 which is in 2 more weeks. I am entering my 5th week post-op but really want to add fruit to my water. I like crystal light but sometimes it tastes too sweet. I think my taste buds have changed. I thought about buying lemon flavored crystal light but havent because i want to use a real lemon... . I love lemon in my water but wander if its too much for my sleeve. I am struggling with taking small bites/chewing well mushy food. I really try to count 20 times before i swallow and place my spoon/fork down before i find that sometimes the food just makes it to the back of my throat and i cant help but to swallow (weird i know) . I have a burning sensation from time to time in my right chest/breast area. Would like advice about if its safe to add lemon to my water and how to really focus on eating slowly and chewing well. I havent vomited/slimed but dont want to damage or stretch my pouch. Normally i am able to get maybe 5-6 bites before i fill like im about to pop!!! Thanks

I've had no problems with lemon water... and yes... taste buds do seem to be hijacked post surgery... but no worries... stuff starts tasting better down the line...crystal lite was way too sweet at first, now I love it!

I know all doctors are different with their diet plans but I can't have citrus or anything acid for the first three months. It has to do with acid contributing to ulcers. I haven't tried crystal light yet but am going to try one that is not citrus flavored.

On my paperwork, citrus is the last thing added at I think 4 months out. Which stinks because I like to drink a lemon-kale-cucumber juice that tastes like lemonade to me.. without the lemon, it just tastes like lawn clippings. So I'm drinking up now before my surgery since i t will be a long time for me until I can have lemon again!

I haven't had the surgery yet, but the only way I can even drink water is flavor it, I don't like flavored water because it is to sweet, so I put a little bit of the flavored water in it my container of water and its perfect, maybe you could take the lemon crystal lite and put just enough to flavor it to your liking.

I love to drink crystal light, but I only drink it half strength because it tastes too sweet to me.....try using less crystal light. For instance I put a 2 quart packet into a gallon of water...sometimes I think that even tastes too sweet so I dilute it some more. As for lemon in my water. I LOVE lemon and I use to drink lemon water all day everyday for six months. I went to the dentist and got my first cavities ever! I went from NO cavities to 6 cavities. So no more lemon water for me...lol
