Loosing My Hair And Needing Some Input :(

this is my first ever blog lol not sure how it will come out but hear goes everything .so I'm extreamly frustrated im 3 1/2 months out from my vertical sleeve surgery and my hair is falling out. im not talking a few strands hear and there im talking clumps when i wash it then when i brush it the next batch of clumps start and my tears are endless. its been almost 2 wks of it and i can feel the difference in the thickness of my hair, I'm seeing thinning spots and i feel like total crap about it! when i signed up to get the surgery done that was one of my worst fears, losing my hair. the doctors had told my that with the sleeve it very rear, less of a chance then with the gastric so i was very happy about that. now 3 1/2 months later and I'm worried sick about it! I've bumped my protein up to about 80 grams from my shakes and i do eat a little through out the day. i was taking my vitamins once a day now starting today twice a day, taking the vitamin b12 sub-lingual and the biotin. the nurse keeps assuring me that I WILL NOT GO BALD but in all reality how can all this hair fall out and i not? it so scary my hair is my everything, I've always had long beautiful hair lol so I've been told. on Friday I'm going to go get it cut i figure less weight pulling at it the less it will fall out? i wish i would have taken a picture to attach to this of what I'm talking about if I'm able to go back and do so after my next shower I'm going to. if there is anyone out there that can help me out i would greatly appreciate it!!

I was taking Biotin & my NUT told me it wasn't necessary. I stopped taking it & noticed more hair loss, Sooooo I'm taking it again, as I feel it helped slow the loss before. It takes a while to get in your system, but I know it works for me! Hope your hair loss slows down. & I hear it's less noticeable with short hair, but I have always had my hair short. Easier to take care of. Good luck.

As you know stress is also a cause of hairloss. Our bodies perceive periods of quick weightloss as stress too. Even though we know that our weightloss is a good thing, our body sees it as the big famine has hit. So,try to de-stress in other areas of your life and certainly get your required protien in. Their are several good vitamin and mineral formulas that are specifically for hair and nails. Eating jello is good too, as you may know. I may not be sleeved yet, but I am a nurse.

My Dr. said it will happen so expect to lose some hair. Maybe you can get a cute pixie cut or experiment with wigs, many ladies wear wigs till their hair grow back.

Wigs? does it really get that bad?

I too have very long hair. I've been taking biotin and scheduled for sugery in 6 days.

Try not to stress because I know from personal experience stress can make it very bad.

I don't know if i would go so far as a pixie cut (personally) from long hair unless that's something you've always wanted but shorter hair will definately take the weight of and common sense says it will help. IMHO.

I hope it improves.

I am in the same boat. Somedays I expect to get out of the shower and look like Mr. Clean so much is coming out. Everyone says not to stress, but I really don't want to be bald. I also take Biotin, my multivitimans, special shampoo yet it keeps coming out:(

Nioxin shampoo is what alot of cancer patients use, I am taking Biotin and also using Nioxin, and take all your vitamins, so your body gets its nutrients and doesnt got in shock mode so extreme.
