Post Op Day 10

I've had a really rough week of pain and gas. I've been having serious doubts as to whether this was a good idea or not. So of course, this morning I woke up in pain again. I downed my vitamins, and my Protonix, and my gas x, and hoped for the best. I also decided to put on a body shaper to hold in my stomach a little bit. It actually felt pretty good.

So, I was out of protein shakes and I decided to re-up my membership at Costco and go get some Premier Protein. The place was packed and I had to walk all the way to the back to get a bag of chicken for my son, then all the way back up to the front for the protein shakes. I was starting to get tired. Finally I made it out and the gas pains were just killing me. But then I noticed on the way home that I really started burping...a lot. I got home, had a little bit of yogurt and all of a sudden, I realize I'm feeling so much better! I'm drinking my water and I'm feeling almost (almost) normal. I even lifted weights today, which I haven't felt like doing all week.

It's funny how when I'm feeling my absolute worst and the idea of getting out and walking around seems insane to me, it really is the best thing for me. I'm thinking I may go out for another walk since it's so beautiful outside.

So tomorrow morning when I wake up, and I feel horrible, I'm going to read this and force myself to go walk outside for a little while. It's got to do me some good.

I'm glad you are feeling better. We all have a bit of buyer's remorse after surgery. It is normal, but it goes away fairly quickly. I'm one month out and I'm still getting used to my new stomach, but I love it. Premier Protein is the shake I use too. I couldn't find strawberry at the Costco in Fairfax, but I got chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate is way better in my opinion. I just won't drink the vanilla anymore.

Here's a tip for when you get to the pureed foods stage. I went online to Blossom Foods and purchased frozen pureed foods. They come in 5 oz containers which is the perfect size for my new tummy. My favorites are chili, chicken enchilada, and cheese ravioli. They are pretty good nutritionally too with a good amount of protein and between 100 – 200 calories.

Feel free to read my blog at http://jfabulous43.wordpress.com/. I’ve been writing a lot about my wls journey.

Ok, that sounds intriguing. I start pureed food next Wednesday. Of course, I've been obsessing over what I'm going to eat. I'll have to check out Blossom Foods and your blog!

Glad to hear you're out and about! I wondered how you fared. If it helps, during the first few weeks I also had serious doubts and felt lousy all the time. Don't overdo it, especially with weights. It's a day-to-day thing at this point.

Wish I had known about the Blossom pureed foods! I just got advanced to a full diet, and it's heavenly!

The following is what I pasted from another topic but I wanted to add after going to the ER because of the Virus I was wishing I never had this done and what was I thinking...Now that the virus has moved on I feel good about it and it is getting better everytime I put a smaller shirt and pants on. LOL

I had my sleeve on Feb 27th and I haven't had any problems with water or juices. I can drink all I want. Fat Free milk goes down without any problem. I take a few gulps at a time and wait a few minutes and no problem with finishing a 8 ounce glass. Everything I eat I chew well over and over. I haven't started my protein yet and got sick from my vitamins. That’s a lot of vitamins...the Flintstone with iron give me indigestion sometimes. I plan to try the protein this week. I feel pretty well considering. I did get a pain in my lower left side just across and up a little from my belly button after walking too much. After reading the forum I find out this is pretty normal so I would take it easy on the walking. The pain is getting better every day. I don't know if my going on has helped but as time goes by I will update this forum. Have a wonderful day. Oh by the way be careful after the first week because your immune system is very low and you can catch a virus very easy..I did and had to go to the ER because of fever and diarrhea which caused dehydration. They did a CT on my belly and all was well...it was a crazy virus going around that a lot of people were getting and lasted about three days.

I had the same pain (I am 14 days out). Doc prescribed malox and a prescription for carafate. They worked wonders. No more pain.
