Congratulations, NYdad! My son, his wife, and her sister ran in the one in Raleigh. I should make that my goal for next year, even though I have never been a runner. How did you get motivated to run? I love other forms of exercised, but have never run.

well, That would be a great goal! I have never been a runner myself but I started on the treadmill. My knee's hips and ankles were killing me for a while. I kept at it, started out walking on the treadmill, then I would run for 30 seconds....then a minute....then 1 1/2 minutes... well I kept doing this for a while until one day I ran a mile. I just kept pushing a little more. Every week I set a new distance goal. Now when your are ready to start road running be prepared for a mental set back. I could hardly run 1/2 mile on the road my first time out. Road running is alot different then the treadmill. I suggest starting on the treadmill. Its alot more forgiving then the pounding of the road. I got motivated because my friends pushed me into running this trot. They all said I could do it.(I wasnt so sure). It was something That motivated me to try harder and train so I didnt get left behind....lol... Its one of my greatest personal accomplishments. I know anybody who is in the position I was in a year ago would also be so very proud of them selves. Set that goal, or pick a 5k run and do that! its a great experience. Good luck!
