3/6/09 - Guess who is a big fat liar!

Okay, I stepped on the scale this morning, and up again. What the hell?   Anyhow, I felt smaller, not sure why the scales are up AGAIN. But......I have these jeans I bought about a month ago and they were too tight. I decided to try them on today just for the heck of it. I didn't think they would fit, I just wanted to see if they were any looser, well, hot filley dough, color me happy, they fit!:w00t: I'm wearing them today! Jr's size 10! Love 'em. So, whenever the scales say your fat, just try on a pair of skinny jeans and you'll feel better!   It just made me realize that the scale is a big fat liar! I mean, he really is. He says I'm gaining weight, but my jeans and my body are telling me, Hey girl, your looking good and getting smaller and can fit into a Jr.'s size 10 jeans. So I am excited, no matter what that freak of a scale says!   It all gets down to, are you eating right? Are you exercising? Are you getting smaller? Yes, yes and yes! So the scale is playing with my head these days and trying to convince me that I'm gaining weight, but he failed! I know that I'm not!   Okay, its Friday, its payday, and I'm wearing my skinny jeans today, and its suposed to be in the 80's today. Its absolutely a beautiful day today, so I'm a happy camper. Very good mood. Plus I get off work at 11:00 am today (only working 4 hours) yay! Life is good.   Below is an article I've kept for quite some time, I read it from time to time when I'm feeling down about the scales, so I thought I would post it again. Even though it is talking about deiting with Low carb, which I try to do. Or I eat the healthy carbs (like fruit) I think the article applies to all types of eating.   Wt - naked first thing in am (168.9)   Here we go again... How the hell does your body hold onto weight and still manage to get smaller while you are on your chosen low carb diet?!? You know the scenario: You are on Induction for two weeks, and you haven't cheated even once. You notice that your clothes fit better, that you are stepping a little livelier, and as far as you're concerned, all's right with the world. But then you step on that evil construction of the Devil himself, the bathroom scale, and you instantly feel betrayed. The stupid thing insists that you have done nothing! Sometimes, it even states you have done less than nothing; it accuses you of cheating because it tells that you haven't lost any weight! Well, there area couple of simple explanations to help you get through this trying time. First of all, if it is at all possible for you to do so, throw that insipid Monster Scale in the trash. Or at least put it up somewhere that it is really, REALLY inconvenient to get to so that you won't be tempted to ask it's opinion every single day of your life. Face it. If you are feeling better and your clothes are looser, do you really need the scale to tell you that you're on the right track? No! You don't! Why do you think you do it, then? I'll tell you why. The low fat diet demons have a tenacious hold on your brain. That's right, you've been brainwashed. All your life they have told you through doctors, dietitians, newspaper and magazine articles, surgeon generals and the like, that you give up X calories per day and you will lose a pound of fat. They even go on to tell you how much fat you should lose each week. In the process, they've made you dependent on the Monster Scale to gauge your progress! What a big lie! Even on the diets that "they" advocate, the Monster Scale does not often cooperate. You go back to the Diet Demons and demand to know why the scale does not reflect the torture you have put yourself through for a month. They immediately start backpedaling on the "give up X calories and lose a pound of fat" story, and start talking to you about water retention and muscle buildup. Sometimes, they even blame it on you with questions like, "Are you sure you counted the calories in everything you ate?" (This is delivered with a knowing little smile that makes you want to rip their knowing little face off.) Being the type that is given to blaming things on yourself, anyway, you cooperate with an answer like, "Well….." They pounce on this with "Ahhhh, well.." Then, they launch into one of their scoldings/lash/encouragement speeches. So, get off their bandwagon, already! Then, there's the competitive spirit. You hear about what other people have done on your chosen diet. Yes, Brian went on Atkins a year ago and lost over a hundred pounds. Yes, a hundred pounds in a year is over eight pounds a month, or 2 pounds a week, or .0119 pounds per hour….but, "Hello? You ain't Brian!" And, did Brian ever say that he lost .0119 pounds per hour? No! He said a hundred pounds in a year. This only proves he got on the scale twice; a year ago, and yesterday. Take a hint from Brian. Stay off the scale! The second solution is to understand what is going on in your body in light of the current state of human affairs. Today, all a person has to have to eat every day is money and transportation to a grocery store or, better yet, a nice restaurant. However, your body's survival instincts have not matured in a million years. Your body still thinks you are a hunter-gatherer. Yes, in spite of a million years of evolution, your body still thinks you are going to have to go out and kill a mammoth to eat. The survival instincts with which you are going to have to come to terms are read-only memory. You can't overwrite them. Deal with it. That said, let me tell you what happens when you lose a pound of fat. Your body has been saving this fat for that long hunting expedition you're going to have to go on to track, kill, dress and retrieve that huge animal. It keeps the fat in little pillows distributed throughout your body. When you start losing fat, it doesn't trust you to continue whatever insane path you have chosen that is causing the fat to dissipate. So, when the fat comes out of the pillow, it injects water as a "place holder." Sometimes that water actually replaces the weight of the fat it lost. Sometimes it replaces the volume. Water weighs more than fat just like lead sinkers weigh more than feathers. If you stuff a pillow with a pound of feathers, you'll have a nice big pillow. If you stuff a pillow with a pound of lead sinkers, you'll have a nice (but rather hard and uncomfortable), small pillow. Now, let's say your body removes a pound of fat and replaces the weight with a pound of water. Your weight will stay the same, but you will be smaller. But, if your body decides to replace the lost fat by volume, that is a quite different story. Remember the great big feather pillow as compared to the tiny lead sinker pillow? Well, now think of a gallon of feathers and a gallon of lead sinkers. Try to pick up the gallon of feathers. Piece of (you'll pardon the expression) cake. Now, try to pick up the gallon of lead sinkers. Sucker's heavy, ain't it? So, you will be smaller, but you will have gained weight. Eventually, your body makes the executive decision that you are not going to replace the fat you lost, and it lets go of the water. In the words of Danny Skaist: "When your body accepts the fact that they are no longer needed, the water will be expelled and the cells closed. This is known as the "whoosh." What makes your body decide to replace by weight or replace by volume? I dunno. But I do know that it does not seem consistent to the casual observer. What makes your body decide that you are seriously not going to replace the fat you lost? I dunno. But now you know why it's so important to drink your water, huh? Loss of fat is inextricably related to water intake. It's more than a little foolish to go on a diet that facilitates the removal of fat and then refuse to give your body the tools it needs to do so. Bottom Line: Stop getting on the scale and drink your water. If you stick to your plan and wait for the "whoosh," it will come.

6/8/10

The slight unfill did the trick, slept like a baby last night for the first time in weeks! No acid reflux at all. I wish now I would have had him only take out 1/2 of a 10th of a cc. It probably would have worked and I would probably have better restriction.   But whatever, I'm living with what I have now. I have restriction, just not as good as it was before the unfill. But I just cannot live with the acid reflux. I need my sleep! It was so bad it was coming out my freaken nose. lol.   Today's menu:   bfast coffee with cream toast & strawberry jam (HOMEMADE WITH SF)   Lunch meatloaf (again, homemade and used SF barbque sauce I made) salad   Dinner chicken fahitas, no tortillia orange sorbet that I made - SF   Wt today 147.4

28 months ago I got the band. What a ride its been. Below are my stats - month by month - as you can see, the longer you have the band and the closer you get to goal, the harder its been for me. I'm half way to my goal of 10% - which would put me to 17 lbs and at a healthy weight (with clothes on).   WW scales last night read 163.2 - fully clothed, my scales read 160 - first thing in the am in my bday suit. I go by my scales since that is the way I've weighed all along.   It feels so good to be so close to being HEALTHY. My BMI was at 25.89. I want to get it to around 23. Something below 25. I love my band, but its a tool that I have to work with, not let it do all the work.   Today's menu   Bfast - Iced Mocha - non fat milk   Lunch grilled chicken tossed salad   Snack Apple - peanut butter (1 TBS)   Dinner soup

How to get insurance to pay for your PS

I found this while searching on the net, so I wanted to save it for future reference. I'm down around 70 to 80 lbs and so far the only thing I'm experiencing is lower back pain. I still have more weight to lose, but so far everyone tells me no need for tummy tuck. But you never know, I want to have all the info I can in case I do require one.     GET INSURANCE APPROVAL FOR COSMETIC SURGERY   Since I previously worked at an insurance company and have discussed what I’ve learned there, I often get inquiries about how to get insurance approval for cosmetic surgery after weight loss. It is possible to have the insurance company approve payment for your reconstructive surgery. The most common type of surgery requested after weight loss is an abdominoplasty. This single surgery can make one of the biggest differences in the body – it removes excess skin and tissue of the abdomen area. This procedure is also often called a “Tummy Tuck.” Do not EVER use the term Tummy Tuck when communicating with your insurance company – they consider this strictly a cosmetic surgery term and they do not like it. Once thing I’ve learned with having worked at an insurance company is that how you communicate with them is as important as what you say. The abdominoplasty is a term used to cover a few different procedures. Two of the terms, panniculectomy and abdominoplasty are often used interchangeably, but the terms actually have some subtle differences.   In a panniculectomy, the hanging or excess skin of the pannus (the lower part of your abdomen) is removed surgically. In this procedure, muscle repair may not be done – in most adults who have had weight changes or pregnancy there is often some separation of the abdominal muscles.   In an abdominoplasty, this excess skin is removed and often there is a repair of the abdominal muscles if there is separation or loosening of the muscles in this area. Hernias in this area are usually covered by insurance, and the repair of these hernias is often done simultaneously with an abdominoplasty.   I think the keys to insurance approval are very simple. It's difficult for one doctor to completely ignore another - so I always try to have my insurance approvals passed on to the clinical doctor in whatever group is in charge of making the decision.   To make sure this happens, I include a lot of doctors' letters in any file that is going to be sent to an insurance company. By this I mean letters from your PCP or General Practitioner, letters from your OB/Gyn, your dermatologist - any doctors you have.Add these letters along with the file and photos that your Plastic Surgeon will send to the insurance company.   Now after a massive weight loss, it is inevitable you'll have lots of excess skin. For that reason, I suggest you make sure that the insurance company understands that it's not cosmetic reasons that you want this skin removed - but for medical reasons.   In other words, you want to make sure that they understand that this excess skin (and excess tissue, especially in the areas of your abdomen, thighs, hips etc - and perhaps even your bust) is interfering with your daily function and life.   The things I would stress would be the issues that occur with excess skin. These may seem gross but they are actual medicalresults of excess or hanging skin. If your hanging abdominal skin is forming an apron of skin that hangs toward your pelvic area, then this may cause complications that can be used as justification for approving your abdominoplasty surgery.   The idea is if you have any of these conditions to make sure that your doctor notes you've been diagnosed or treated with it. Or if you haven't been diagnosed but the doctor knows you are PRONE to this conditions this can be used as justification for getting your surgery before you suffer from these conditions. For example, if a female has been treated for yeast infections from her OB/Gyn, then it is perfectly acceptable for that doctor to note that the hanging skin might make you prone to that condition (even if it has not yet surfaced.)   Letters from your dermatologist noting skin irritations, rashes, infections from your hanging skin or having been treated with medication for these conditions is also a very strong factor in getting approval. A letter from your urologist might mention if you've been diagnosed as having excess abdominal skin that is pressing or your bladder or urethra. This pressure can cause various urological conditions and disorders.   If you’ve been treated by a chiropractor for any lower back pain, any type of alignment difficulties or other conditions that might be affected by hanging or excess skin, get a letter documenting that.   It has been studied that every one pound of abdominal tissue add 10 pounds of strain on the disks of the spine and lower back. The extra weight affects the normal curve of the spine and contributes to lower back pain. In other words, an extra five pounds can add 50 lbs of strain to the lower back. And extra ten pounds of abdominal tissue can add 100 lbs of strain to the disks of the lower back and this is another reason this area common suffers abdominal hernias (this is especially true after changes in weight, pregnancy, and abdominal surgeries).   Your PCP or Family doctor can also be of great help in helping the insurance company to realize that getting an abdominoplasty is reconstructive and not cosmetic. Having this doctor detail the conditions you’ve experienced is essential to getting approval for this procedure.   Insurance companies are often in the business of not approving procedures that they even suspect are not medically necessary but cosmetic. Make sure that your documentation reflects common medical industry terminology (writing panniculectomy or abdominoplasty instead of Tummy Tuck, as discussed earlier) and utilizing the correct codes to document the conditions that you may suffer from. If you have even more significant excess skin that extends throughout your lower body area, then the more severe Belt Lipectomy or even a Lower Body Lift may be needed. This procedure involves a full around-the-world incision that spans your entire body. The surgical and recovery times are also more lengthy in this much more costly procedure and often insurance companies are hesitant to approve a Belt Lipectomy or Lower Body Lift without some significant documentation to show that it is needed.   The CPT code for the abdominoplasty procedure is generally CPT 15831 – The excision of excessive skin and subcutaneous tissue. (This is the code that is on my insurance approval letter for my abdominoplasty.) The code for removal of excess hip area tissue is CPT 15834. With other areas included (flanks, back) it is CPT 15839. If this process includes suction-assisted lipectomy (like liposuction) then it can be CPT 15877. (Note: Insurance companies are notoriously loathe to approve CPT 15877 as they consider it cosmetic.)   It is important to document that the excess skin is not a cosmetic issue but is “interfering with exercise, hygiene and health” and that it is not cosmetic.   The following is a list of common industry ICD-9 codes are descriptive diagnostic codes that used to describe symptoms, in this case relating to excess skin. These can be used in the letters that describe the various conditions and symptoms that are prompting you to seek the surgery.   Panniculitis 729.39 - Skin irritation underneath pannus area Large pannus 701.9 - Redundant skin, lower abdominal area Intertrigo 695.89 - Rashes & Irritation of skin in pannus area Back pain 724.1 - Back pain from diminished abdominal muscle Skin Abcess 682.2 - Can result from excess or hanging skin   This is just some of the information that can be included in the documentation provided to the insurance company. I know I did not want to wait until my excess skin became a full hanging apron, so I knew I had to be persistent and diligent in seeking insurance approval.

I got my fill yesterday, then came down with a stomach bug. OOOO I was sick. So dizzy too. My entire family had it, and it was coming out both ends. Except for me, all I can do is dry heave. I've noticed since I've been banded I CANNOT throw up. I just dry heave. I've read where others say they can't either.   Anyhow, after my fill, it was not long before I started feeling ill. I was a little worried because my fill is pretty tight. Anyhow, I just decided to ride it out, well, I was up a lot thru the night dry heaving, so was my hubby, except he was doing more than dry heaving.....it was an unpleasant night for all of us. My two kids were sick too.   Anyhow, feeling much better today, stomach is still in a few knots, but taking it easy. Sticking with soft foods, like protein shakes and creamy soups. Making sure my stomach is healed. Also I am doing the 5 day pouch test since it was the perfect time to start it (since I just had another fill).   Had to give up the exercise yesterday and will probably not go tonight either, just not feeling that great.   wt - 170.3

Fill #14

Fill #1 - 3/6/07 - 2.2cc's   Fill #2 - 4/17/07 - 3.0cc's   Fill #3 - 7/6/07 - 3.5 cc's (I think it was only 2.5cc's because when I went back for fill #4, he could only w/draw 1.8 cc's)   Fill #4 - 7/20/07 - filled me back to 3.0 ccs - He should have filled me more!   Fill #5 - 8/17/07 - 3.4cc's   Fill #6 - 10/08/07 - filled me to 3.8cc's - the best restriction I've ever had,but still could eat big bites of food, so I figured I needed to be tighter.   Fill #7 - 11/21/07 filled to 4.0 cc's. By the evening could not hold anything down, not even my saliva. PBing all night - horrilble experieince   UNFILL #1 - 11/23/07 - unfilled to somewhere between 2.5 to 3.0 cc's - NO RESTRICTIONS AGAIN    Fill #8 - 1/18/08 Went in and the doc filled me back up to just right under 4.0, according to Flouro, it was perfect. Well, by next morning, could not hold down saliva again, ended up back in hospital   UNFILL #2 - 1/19/08 - Doctor had to unfill me to 3.0 again because of the swelling from all the PBing for being too tight. Again, NO RESTRICTION - :cursing:   Fill #9 - 2/12/08 - 3.5 cc's - was tight for about a week, now feel lose again. grrrr, still have "some" restriction, just not quite enough! Next fill scheduled for 4/7/08 - I hate that it takes sooooooo long to get in to see the fill doc.   FILL #10 - 4/7/08 The doc just added .4cc's, making me at 3.9cc's. I think this might be the one!   FILL #11 - Was scheduled on 6/25/08 - but the doc did not fill me up, I was leaving for a cruise on 6/27 so he didn't want to risk me being too tight, so did not get a fill.   FILL #11 - 8/5/08 Went for a fill, this time the doc took all my fill out and all he could get out was 2.4 cc's. Filled me up to 4.0 cc's, I left, had to go right back because I could not drink, he took out a little over .2 cc's, he said I'm somewhere between 3.5 to 3.7 cc's. - I had great restriction for 2 weeks, but It has now loosened some. I feel I might need a tad more. I'm worried I have a very slow leak.   UNFILL #3 - 8/5/08 - Took a little over .2 cc's out, had pretty good restriction, but still a tad too lose.   FILL #12 - 9/17/08 - Added just 1/10th of a cc - I think I'm somewhere between 3.8 to 3.9 cc in a 4cc band. I am hoping and praying this is the fill that I stop with! I do not have another appointment for another fill, will wait this one out and see.   Fill #13 - 10/06/08 - Doc added about 2/10's of a cc. He took everything out and put it all back in and said I was about 3.7 to 3.8cc's. - which is where he said I was last time.   FILL #14 - 11/10/08 - Doc took everything out and I had about 3.6cc's, which is pretty good. He then filled me up to just under 4.0cc's I believe I'm about 3.9cc's. I ate some canned peaches and set around the office for a bit, made sure none came back up. Seems to be doing good so far. I hope this is my last fill!

4/5/10

Well, back on the HCG diet - started it again on 4/01.   I did pretty good until Tuesday night (3/30). Had a late dinner and did not make good choices, ate fried chicken tenders, fried shrimp, and french fries, then had two drinks!!! Can you say yuk? Anyhow, by Thursday morning was up 7 pounds. Good news, I'm down 5 of the 7 pounds in 4 days. I know a lot ot it that I gained was water weight, alcohol seems to do that to me.   Anyhow, will stay on HCG until 4/21, leaving for my puerto vallarta trip on 4/22. So I will be taking another "break" for about 4 or 5 days from the HCG diet.   I will "try" and not over indulge in to much fruity alcohol drinks, but can't make promises.   I just love sipping on an umbrella drink by the beach or pool! I love the sunshine, I hate the winter!   Wearing a size 6 - thats right a size 6 capri pant today!!!!! I love it! I am totally loving my legs these days. My cellulite is even disappearing, I still have some, but not near as bad. I really am seeing the changes in my body, the fat is truly melting away. I'm a believer!

12/13/07

I got my power on late last night! Yay!   Now, as far as eating, I'm taking it one day at a time. I called the hospital and asked them to put me on the waiting list so if there is a cancellation before my appointment, I would like to come in. So hopefully someone will cancel and I can get my fill before 1/18/07!   Okay - I did good yesterday for bfast & lunch, had some roasted chicken and salad for lunch, but dinner - well not that I ate that much, but I just ate the wrong things. My SIL cooked her famous homemade cookies (choco chip), well, need I say more. My will power and self control left. I feel like I have no control right now, I feel like I cannot say no to anything sweet, what in the world is wrong with me?   I think deep down I am using my "no restriction" as an excuse to eat whatever I want, that is bull crap, I need to have some sort of control!   Okay, today is another day so I start again.......today will be better, I know it will be!   PS - avoided the scales, just can't deal with them and decided I will just weigh on my 11 month band anniversary next week (Tuesday, 12/18/07). Whatever it says, well, I'll have to live with it. I can tell my jeans are tighter today, so I am up in weight.

A poem I wrote

My new life begins with a lap band placed within I am nervous and anxious and not sure when When will I be at goal, when will I be thin? I tried and tried all my life to please the scales Yes tried to please them, ate nothing at all but to no avail My family thinks I’m crazy, some might think I’m lazy Just diet they say, and you’ll look amazing. No one understands the pain and anguish of being this way No one understands the strain it takes to breathe every day I am thankful for my family and friends you see, But this choice I’ve chosen is mine and for me. So be there for me and cheer me on to the finish line I promise you all I will get there this time!

FILL #15 - 08/10/09 - Added about 1/10th of a cc. I think I'm right at 4.0 cc. Wt on the morning of my fill was at 165. But was very bloated from steroids I was on for the previous week.   FILL #16 - 8/31/09 - My last fill lasted 2 weeks then I felt wide open. Went in for another fill, this time he did not take any out and just added 2/10th's of a cc. I think I'm just a little more than 4.1 cc's in a 4.0 cc band. I feel great restriction so far. I'm hoping this last. I'm sick of fills. lol. :w00t: - I could tell my fill was wide open, I was starving all the time, wt at the time of fill was 170! grrrrrrr   FILL #17 - 10/30/09 - completely drained me, checked for a leak - no leak YAY - added 4.6 cc's - I feel like he didn't add anything, feel wide open! Hungry all the time   FILL #18 - 11/09/09 Doc did barium swallow test - I think he thought I was full of it. He saw what I was talking about and agreed I was way too loose. He added 2.5cc's. I feel restriction again, but not a real tight restriction. I have no idea where I'm at these days and I really don't care anymore how much CC's I have, I just want RESTRICTION!!!!!!   Fill #19 - 11/23/09 - I had a some restriction, but not enough, the doc added 3/10ths of a cc. I feel pretty good, not too tight, which means it probably will get looser. I will ride this fill out and see what happens. Very discouraged at this point.   FILL #20 - 12/28/09 - did not take any fluid out, just added 4/10th's of a cc. Still feel lose, but on the fluro it showed I was tight, so we'll see how it goes.........

only 4.9 lbs until I reach my original goal!

on 1/18/07 when I received my band, I set a goal to weigh 145. Well, I'm in the 140's now and only need to lose 4.9 lbs in order to reach that goal.   I've now decided I want to get to 135, but first I want to reach that goal of 145! I've already reached my doctors goal of 155. I've also already reached the goal of no longer being overweight. Its taken me over 3 years to do it, but I've done it! Or almost done it all. I'm just one happy camper today!

Fill #21 - Lets see if it works.........

Now that the doctor has quit taking all my fluid out every time I get a fill, the fills are slowly but surely getting tighter. Fill #20 did pretty good, but still too lose, so I just had fill #21 and I'm having a hard time drinking my shake. I have to slow down a bit on it, that is GREAT! My fingers, leggs and toes are all crossed, hoping that this fill is the one that works - I am hoping to keep the restriction! I am to be on liquids for the next 48 to 72 hours. Just had fill #19. I've decided that I am making an appointment for the first of next year - something is not right. I should not still be getting fills. I will see how the 19th fill does, I do have some restriction, but not enought. 5/3/10

Thought I would come by to post in my lonely journal. lol.   Anyhow, took a break from HCG for most of the month of April, not sure why I did it, just felt I needed a break.   The good news is, MAINTIANING my weight. Down in the 150's which is my doctor's goal. My personall goal is 145 or maybe even 135.   I started the HCG again this month and will do it until the end of the month and then will end it. I should be close to my goal by then.   I am very happy with the fact that as soon as I began eating more than the diet required, I didn't gain. It seems that the resetting of your hypotholamus (sp) is what the HCG is supposed to do, it seems it might have worked because I am not gaining. I didn't lose either, but I didnt try. I just ate normally, protein first and then the rest of my meal.   I will post more this month with my results. I plan on stopping on 5/30 then I will do a 3 week maintenance plan according to the manuscript and then 3 weeks slowly reintroducing the starches and carbs into my diet. Then I will be leaving for my cruise.....If I still have another 10 lbs to lose after my cruise I might do one more round.   It feels so good to be in a size 6 and being so close to my personal goal! Also, I'M NO LONGER OVERWEIGHT according to the charts. I'm a normal weight. Wow, first time in 22 years I'm normal!   Thank you Mr. band and thank you HCG. Together they have acheived miracles for me!   I also want to say that I owe most of my progress to the band! The band helped me lose 80 lbs! HCG is just helping me get to my personal weighloss goal. For some people they can get to goal with the band by itself, but for me, it just wasn't happening - I was sooooo close to goal, but yet sooooo far.   The last 20 lbs is by far the hardest. I tried Weight Watchers, low carb etc and just couldn't lose the last of my weight. So I decided to give HCG a try and it worked for me, very happy with the results if I havent mentioned that before.   Anyhow, I just don't want to confuse anyone especially newbies that they will have to go on some special diet with the band, that IS NOT THE CASE.   Follow the band rules, proteins first, no drinking with meals, exercise 30 minutes a day, stay up on your fills, etc. You will do great! And then when you get to final stage and having problems lose the very last 10 to 20 lbs, thats when you might think of trying something new for your body. But until then, I recommend eating the lap band way. It does work!

Day 2 of my new fill, so far it is the best fill I have ever have. I always thought I had restriction, but I feel this one more than any other fill. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this is the one, this is the fill that I've been searching for, could this be the "sweet spot"?   Yesterday, had a WW smart one meal, chose speghetti since it is soft. Well, I had to work to eat it and only ate 1/2 of my meal, then I finished the rest for dinner.   I drank water last night before bed, and I had a hard getting it down before I went to sleep. It was iced cold water and that usually makes me a bit tighter. I don't think I will be doing that again before bedtime. lol.   I'm actually having to chew my food these days, thats a good thing.   Weight this morning 168.7 - so its going down......It better keep going down if that scale knows whats good for him!   Now on another note, NOTE TO MYSELF - GET OFF THE COUCH, PUT THE REMOTE DOWN, STEP AWAY FROM THE "COMFORT" AREA AND GET YOUR BUTT TO THE GYM!!!!

I returned back to work this week from my 5 weeks off due to my hysterectomy.   It seems to be kicking my butt! So tired, but I'm hanging in there. I cannot wait to be back to normal!   I've been struggling the last year trying to lose the last 20 lbs. I decided to do something different and I joined weight watchers. Well, I have 1 week down and guess what, I gained 4 lbs by joining ww. I stuck to the plan to a T. Needless to say, I am very frustrated. I decided I will give WW 30 days. If in that 30 days I don't lose any weight, I'm done! So I'm trying not to get too frustrated, but I tell you, I am.   Next week I am hoping the doc will release me to exercise, she said it was still too soon this week, but she did say I can go for a leisure walk, just not hard core brisk walking and no lifting anything.   Now that I am back to work, I can keep my blog updated more.   Wt 174.8

2009 goals

I don't believe in resolutions, however, I do believe in setting some goals, writing them down and setting a plan in action to reach those goals. I don't believe you have to only do them in Janaury, however, I usually set goals ever month.   I decided to set a yearly goal, and assess where I am every 2 or 3 months. This way it will keep on track to reaching my goals. I'm only going to list a few of them on this blog, the ones that have to do with my band.   1. Lose my final 30 lbs this year. I will do this in 2009. I need to plan my meals better and get back to the band rules. Proteins first!   2. Exercise will become a big part of my life in 2009. I have a membership, time to start using it more than I do!

3/24/09

Last night was my weight watchers meeting and guess what the freaken scales said, NOTTA, nothing, NO LOSS AT ALL. I weighed exactly the same as last week. 167.6! What the heck? I exercised 6 days last week, I ate pretty darn good and I didn't lose 1 freaken ounce? What the *&$%#!!!!!   Okay, so the scales say I didn't lose but my clothes say differently, they are looser, fit so much better and some of my jeans, I must wear a belt! So am I worried - NOPE, am I upset, well, a little. I really wanted to see some movement. According to my scales, I've lost, but according to the WW scales, I haven't. We'll see what next week says. All I can say is if they tell me I didn't lose next week, someone is getting slapt. Thats right, I'm jumping over the counter and slapping one of those skinny little receptionist.   The old me would have come home and just ate and said "what the use", but the new me can see the changes that my body is making and feel the changes that my body is making and I like it. So, do I care what the scales say? Well, a little, but I know they are liars so I am going to keep plugging away doing what I am doing because I know that changes are happening!   Last night after dinner, I headed to the gym and did a very hard workout! I did cardio plus upper body strength training.   Todays menu:   Breakfast   1 cup of sliced strawberries - 1 pt 1/2 container of WW yogurt mixes with granoloa - 5 pts   Lunch 4 oz talapia - baked - 3 pts salsa, cilantro - 0 pts 2 Whole wheat tortia - 4 pts (fish tacos - yum)   Snack 1 mandarian orange - 1 pt   Dinner - WW meal - 6 pts   Exercise - tonight is my night off, none tonight. :cursing:   Wt - Naked on my scales in AM 164.3 WW Scales - 167.6

20 days until Banding!

Wow, 20 more days! I can't believe it. Next week, I'll be in the teens!   I'm enjoying a diet coke this morning. I know I won't be able to have it after surgery, and I have pretty much given them up. But this morning, I wanted the "last diet coke". I guess you could call it my farewell drink. I am enjoying every sip of this coke. Its a strong, cold drink, I love it! I drink it and my eyes even water. Man, its good this morning.   Eating has been pretty good. Last night we were at my sister in laws for dinner, I did really good, No bread on the meat....EXCEPT, she brings out the dessert.   I ended up having 2 tiny choco chip cookies, then a spoonful of this chocolate pudding dish she made. In the past I would have eaten 5 or 6 cookies, and a big bowl of the pudding. So, I think I did okay.
