A little frightened by some pain this morning....

Recommended Posts

On Monday I went in to see my doctor for my second fill. I have a 10cc band and had 3 ccs in on first fill. He loaded me up with another 2ccs, but I couldn't keep down Water or saliva so he pulled off 1cc and I was fine. I have had NO issues since he did that. He did have a VERY VERY hard time finding the port after the initial 2 cc insertion, as I was already swelling and had vomited the water twice. So he had to push and push to get the needle in. But, seriously, I had no side effects other than tenderness for maybe 24 hours at the site.

This morning however...I stretched and yawned and immediately doubled over in pain. I can't even touch the site without tenderness that causes me to gasp. It is located DIRECTLY at the port site, and not anywhere else. I have not tried to eat yet this morning, but have had coffee with out any issues. So, although its tender!!!!!! I have not called the doc's office as I'm thinking I might have simply done too much abdomenal work (I exercise daily) following a pretty aggressive fill/unfill. Any thoughts??

I would say your instincts are right. After going through that with the fill and then exercising it was probably too much but definitely call your doctors office just to be sure.

Hope it goes away soon for you.

I did end up calling the after hour service to inquire if I should be worried...which of course is a conundrum in and of itself as I was already worried, duh!

They were actually relieved I called, and said its like a port issue due to the 'aggressive' unfill on Monday and that they want me to report immediately to the ER if a fever or increased pain occurs today. They will do a cat scan to lock onto the source of the pain and go from there. At this point, since my husband is a firefighter and is at the firehouse for 24 hours leaving me home alone with the 3 kids, I am waiting to see if I can hang on til tomorrow. Who knows...maybe it will subside or at least reduce. I just thought I'd share, as honestly? What other answer was there but to call the doctor's office!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
