How do you decrease swelling around the band?

Recommended Posts

I think I have swelling around the band. I had a baby almost 6 weeks ago, and i think that has made me swollen. I was filled to only a 1.5 (I was totally unfilled during my pregnancy) and I still get stuck quite a bit. I've done mushies and liquids for 24 hours but the inflammation is still there when I go for solids again. Any advice on how to decrease the inflammation?

You may be too tight - the whole stress of having a baby (congrats on that ;0) I would stick to mushie/full liquids and contact your doc..

Also, once at support group someone said to eat ice chips

can't hurt - Good Luck - Call your doc...

I would try a few days of liquids and then a few more days of mushies. Every now and then I seem to get some swelling and that is what I do. I never do well with just one day.

Stay on liquids, and I have heard of taking children's liquid motrin to reduce the swelling. Of course, don't take this long-term, but few doses the next day or two probably won't hurt. You should probably call your doctor, though, to see if they want you to come in.

you just had a baby, post partum your body is getting rid of excess fluids. Seems almost natural that you would have some inflamation. You might want to stay on liquids for a couple of days like the other folks recomend make sure you keep hydrated stay away from salts. It might help to walk around a littlebit also. Can i ask a question and i hope I'm not intruding? was this a natural birth? The only reason I ask is that all the bearing down might had slipped your band. You might want to get in and see your surgeon if your symptoms dont improve.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
