I was banded on 10/17, I'm having pain/tightness in my upper back, shoulders,& neck. I'm also having a lot of burping/more like air pockets that i can feel rising up its can be pretty painful.

I did clear liquid for 3 days & have now added Protein Shakes to it also, all together I only drink about 3-4 cups of liquid a day I have taken mylanta for the gas but maybe I should switch to gas x.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ok it sounds like you are having a lot of gas. Are you walking. YOu have to move and walk to get it all out. It's going to take up to a few weeks everyone is different. Also it's a good idea to try a different medication for gas. gas X just may work. Good Luck

You need to walk more to get rid of the gas.

You probably still have the gas they used to expand your abdomin trapped in.. mine lingered for over a week.. it will feel like you need to burp but it's pressure in your body cavity on your esphogas, not coming up from your stomach. It really helped getting up and moving around to help that gas dissipate. it's likely not due to what you are eating.

These are all normal symptoms and will pass in another week or two. Gas X is suppose to help but I think walking is what really helped me and don't use a straw it can cause more gas and bloating.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
