Dr. Subhash Kini - LapBand Newbie

Recommended Posts

I'm 2weeks into post operative, Stage II eating schedule. Having a rough time with nausea but no vomiting (thank God). I'm ready for any Stage eating schedule because I'm tired of the foods I'm supposed to eat. I'm trying to find other ways to prepare those same foods without cheating. Baby food is a total turnoff at this point. I must have suggestions as to how to perk up the foods on Stage II. And I'm totally turned off to Splenda, as by the evening, the after taste is overwhelming.

Otherwise, stitches are good. No horrors there. I'm down 16 lbs. and looking good.

Are you in the mushies stage? If so I ate mashed potatoes, applesause, chucky Soups. What are you eating?

Thanks for replying;

I'm eating yogart, applesauce, SF Carnation Instant Bkfst., Jello, just recently SF pudding, baby food (no wonder the poor things don't want to eat it). I've gotten to the point of wanting to upchuck just thinking about baby food! I'm forced to eating chicken legs without puree (reminds me of baby food), vegetable Soups without puree, bananas without mashing them and spinach. I can eat spinach with powdered potato and a little low fat margarine. My stomach seems to tolerate all these foods without puree. I wonder did I stretch my stomach already?

Hi Sandie,

Check out the nutrition section here. They have recipes for all the various stages. I like to cook, and use lots of spices, so I actually enjoy the mushie stage. I haven't pureed any meets, unless they are in Soups (I make a great spicy lentil Soup with sausages). If you are in the mushi stage, you can also have canned tuna fish. I add balsamic vinegar, but you could also use LF or FF mayo. Scrambled eggs are good. I also like ricotta cheese with LF or FF mozarella & parmesan, topped with tomatoe sauce - and of course, lots of spices.

Joan

Thanks for the tips! I will try to find the nutrition section and see if I can find something that will satisfy me. Frankly, I don't like to cook, but with the new lifestyle change, cooking will have to be one of the things that I will have to change and start liking it! :-)

I'm afraid to start up with too many spices and Tomato sauce, as I'm still in the nauseous stage. These spices are the two things I like the most in food preps. :smile:

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
