Question about the Chat Room...

Recommended Posts

Is there any reason why the chat room is always empty. I was just curious because sometimes it's nice to just strike up a conversation with someone and share your thoughts, fears, accomplishments and just daily life with someone that is going through the same thing that you are. :) Not that I sit at the computer all day but sometimes at night I do sit and read the message boards for awhile and click on the chat room and I am the only one there. :) Like I said, just curious! :)

It's always been like that, no one ever seems to use it. I too would like to be able to have a one on one with someone once in awhile, but I guess the only way that can really happen is if you are talking to someone and you both agree it would be easier to switch over to the chat room, then you could both use it, with very little chance of being interrupted.

Kathy, I've often wondered the same thing. Others have brought up suggestions as to how to make it more user friendly.

I have seen some people start threads with "Join us in the Chat Room at _ o'clock Central" or something similar.

I usually check to see if anyone's in there, but when I see I'm alone I get out quick!! Don't want to be accused of talking to myself!

I'm also in Houston, and Dr Spivak will perform my surgery on Monday 10/10 .. I'm getting excited! We'll definitely have to get a chat started up soon! What's a good time for everyone?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
