hey all,

i just started eating 2 days ago and found that some food after swallowing it gave me the worst chest pain for about 15 mins, is this normal?

also has anyone found that if they stop exercising the weight piles back on?

anyone got any ideas for lunch and tea recipies?

unfortunantly i havent found many recipies on the net.

any advice would be great!

There are a lot of Lap Band Recipe books on the market or I would think you could you a high protien book. I eat a lot of chicken salad with FF mayo. My weight had not changed if I stopped exercising but I am only doing it about 4 times a week. I need to step it up!!!

I started eating solids this week and found that I am still eating too fast and maybe not chewing well enough, which causes pain in the center of my chest. When I slow down, take small bites, and chew well, I'm not having the pain. When were you banded, Skuzie?

I love my band! Dr. Groves is an excellent surgeon in my opinion. I went to the grocery store Saturday and it was so liberating to buy a few things that I know will last me for days because my portion sizes are so small. I really felt free from my appetite.

i live in Tasmania, Australia, and my surgeon was Mr Wilkson whos part of the obesity centre in Hobart, fantastic, i had a lot of pain, but thats only because i stubb my toe and the world is over!

in aussie dollars i was out of pocket $1600, including anathesic. Health fund and medicare covered $800, so not sure in us dollars.

i spoke to peoples at work and found that at 4 and 1/2 weeks i should be on mushie food, like old peoples, at least no more chest pain!

i did get an infection in the big cut, but its getting better, i thank everyone, theres not much help and advice here.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
