I was always a big beer drinker. I have drank twice since surgery and didn't like it. I had vodka/cranberry. I am used to being able to handle my liquor-- but I only had a few and got REALLY drunk! I was disappointed because I like to relax and hang out for the evening and I was too drunk to do that. I really don't feel like drinking any more because of that. Maybe I need to find a drink with a very small % of alcohol that won't affect me so quickly.

OMG... I have ONLY been a beer drinker and I will die if I can never drink beer again. I will have to find out if it will ever be ok for me to have one after some time has passed.

I don't remember when, but I do know I stay away from carbonation.

So no more beer, but I now love Malibu, OJ, pineapple and grenadine.

Also a nice Riesling (light white wine) is nice too.

I noticed you like the Malibu (rum). You have to try the coconut Malibu with the V8 Fusion/light. OMG! it is sooooo good.

Time for a bit of a confessional for me.

I had my surgery on a Monday, that Friday I went out and effed up on something that I didn't think I would have issues with.

I had about 6 ounces of dark beer that took me more than an hour to finish.

That night I was pretty bloated in the stomach and couldn't expel gas very easily.

Now I definitely learned my lesson, but I fear that this lesson may have some consequences? Is it possible that could have dislodged the band? I go for my first fill on Sept 15th and I'm just scared I may have already screwed things up

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
