Do you ever stop losing?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if you can stop weight loss if you feel you are at your ideal weight, and who decides your ideal weight? How do you maintain a healthy weight? I have never maintained a weight it has always fluxuated with me, alot. Also do they care if you used to be anorexic does that make any difference in there deciding if you are a canidate?

I don't know about the anorexic part, but I do feel that they would just let some saline out of your band and monitor you if you got too skinny. My doctor is wonderful and keeps very close tabs on his patients.

I just kind of lost slower and slower until it finally stopped. Now I maintain with no change in restriction.

Thankfully I stopped at BMI of 22 rather than say, 29. I am perfectly happy to call this goal.

i think they would be concerned about the anorexia. I am sure your dr would be interested in knowing how long ago you were anorexic and what type of treatment you got. Also, this is something that should be discussed during the psych. eval.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
