Has Anyone heard of this??

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of someone being banded, having restriction and not needing fills to succeed? I was banded 3 weeks ago and do not feel hungry at all. Just toying with wishful thinking and pretending I won the lap band lottery;) I know logically I may still have some swelling etc...but just wondering if anyone has heard of this?

Most likely you are swollen.

I have been banded 6 1/2 weeks. Around my 4th week my appetite started returning and now I am back to "normal". I go for my first fill on Monday, and I need it!

I am one of those success stories. I had my surgery in Nov. 2005, lost 106 pounds and have kept it off for 3 years without fills. It is possible of course but it isn't common at all. I have competely changed my life with becoming very health concious. It is very important to me to stay healthy and make the correct choices in my life now. When I had my surgery I lost my appetite and began having to make myself eat. I have gained a few pounds pounds but that is from the gym mostly because I am still in my size 6's. I am not obsessed with the scale anymore as my clothes tell the story. You can do it without a fill but don't try to be a hero. It is there if you need it and I still am thankful that just in case it will be there if I need it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
