Big downside to having surgery a long way off is that I can't keep my mind on other things! I find myself staring off into space whilst sitting at my cube at work lazily daydreaming about what's to come, and I can't seem to keep my mind focused on what's in front of me. Bad me.

Am I overly fixated? Or am I just excited? I don't have that much experience with excited... Maybe I just need a vacation?

I have always been a pretty focused person, but I am waiting for the word from my surgeon about a date, and I am having a really hard time accomplishing anything at work. I can't seem to remember things, I forget what I am doing, and I keep looking at my cell phone waiting for the call. I think it is just excitement. Sort of feels like it did the week before Christmas vacation started when I was a kid.:)

I'll tell you that my fixation of the insurance company approval, turned into fixation on having the actual surgery. This became a fixation new food & nutrition (I used the early stages of mushie etc to learn about calories/portion etc).

So about 4 months after surgery I was a little worried that I had swapped my fixation on white breads and carbs into a LAPBANDTALK and general lapband fixation.

The good news is that at a little over a year post surgery - life is returning to normal. Actually a new normal- the band is a part of me and we work together. But I dont fixate on it.

How distracted WAS I? Prior to getting the LB surgery in December I was on this site daily sometimes 4 times a day.

Since I had the surgery I have been on a total of 4 times in 6 months! I was obsessed before and distracted. Now life goes on . I'm 40 lbs lighter and much much happier and all my numbers improved. No more BP meds. I fit easily into a size 14 now ..goal is a loose 12...had 3 fills ...this last one really put me in the "sweet" spot...I might be a bit too tight but I'm loosing weight again. Not hungry and loving it!!!!!!!!!BEst to you:wub:

I was really excited and anxious about my surgery, and getting a surgery date. I finally got my date which is Aug 14th! YaY me..lol. I went threw the process and I'm on my liquid diet know. It's been a challenge...but I can do it! I'm 5days into my liquid diet...8 days to go! So yes to get back to the point I think it's normal to be overly excited=) I was very excitied!!!!!!! and thought about it 24 hours a day!! I started my liquid diet at 235. I'm know 224. My first doctor's visit I was 240 so I guess I'm seeing progress. My advice would be not to over eat now so when it's time to diet before surgery you won't be shocked! LOL...Good Luck! May God bless you on your way to a new and healthier you!

I AM THE SAME WAY. ALL I THINK ABOUT IS HOW MUCH OF A CHANGE THIS WILL MAKE IN MY LIFE. I AM VERY ECITED MYSELF SO I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL. HOPEFULLY WE WILL NOT HAVE TO WAIT MUCH LONGER. :crying:

I own my own business and work part time doing counselling for the Dept of Corrections so being distracted isn't even an option.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
