Gross! My first PB

Recommended Posts

:) So I guess Ive experianced the dreaded unknown and thought Id let everyone know what it was like. Every week I get to add new things to my diet and so this week I got to add baked chicken. Yesterday, I took my second bite of some chicken and all of a sudden started getting the golf ball feeling. I now know exactly why its called productive burping. It felt like I had to burp REALLY bad. It like came from my throat, not my stomich. At first I did keep the food down and just let a few little burps out; but then I knew I had to just let it come up when my chest was getting a tight feeling, so I got to the bathroom and let it happen. It really wasnt too bad. I dont know exactly why I pb'd. Id only had a few bits and what came up was chewed to liquid. It didnt hurt and I pb'd twice in a row and then it was over. The tight feeling and golf ball went totally away and I felt 100% better. I think it would have been a lot worse if I would have gotten the "sliming" effect. I didnt have any of that and Im thankful for that because what Ive read about "sliming" seems really gross. I was too scared to finish my lunch, but I probably could have. The good news is that if I was at a public place, I would have had time to make it to the bathroom, which is something I was always worried about. It was still gross though even though it wasnt bad and didnt really hurt. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
